The Mother-Infant Biobehavioral Laboratory is part of the Stress and Health Research Program within the Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The primary purpose of this clinical research program is to explore the biological underpinnings of human social interactions and to understand how they are altered by biological and behavioral factors such as prenatal substance exposure or addiction, depression, pregnancy, lactation and environmental factors. A second purpose is to understand the influence these factors exert on long term physical and psychological health and disease susceptibility.
Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Study Coordinator in a study of mother-infant dyads with and without prenatal substance exposure to opioids, with or without cocaine, cannabis, alcohol, or tobacco. This person will 1) oversee all aspects of volunteer recruitment of women during pregnancy and retention over 14-month involvement; 2) oversee all aspects of data collection in mothers and infants including conducting psychophysiological lab protocols, surveys, interviews, measurement of maternal and infant substance exposure and/or hormones in saliva, hair, urine and expired air, infant developmental assessments, and acquisition, editing of heart rate variability in mothers and infants; 3) work with other research staff for infant MRI testing, 4) help develop and prepare data collection forms, recruitment brochures and flyers, 5) train and supervise student research assistants, 6) assist with analysis of acquired research data.

The Assistant Clinical and Neuroimaging Research Coordinator will work on a collaborative project of the Padula BRAVE Lab and the Computational Psychiatry, Neuroimaging, and Sleep Lab.
The Padula BRAVE Lab, led by Dr. Claudia Padula, is focused on understanding the brain circuits that underlie addictive behaviors, such as alcohol use disorder (AUD). The primary goal of this research is to understand biological markers that impact treatment outcomes, as well as their modifiability. The long-term goal of the Padula BRAVE Lab is to increase precision and availability of treatment options for those suffering from addiction.
The CoPsyN Sleep Lab, led by Dr. Andrea Goldstein-Piekarski, is focused on translational clinical research and utilizes human neuroimaging, high density EEG, computational methods, and clinical psychology to examine the role of sleep physiology in the development, maintenance, and treatment of psychopathology across the lifespan.
The Computational Psychiatry, Neuroimaging and Sleep Laboratory (CoPsyN Sleep Lab) is currently recruiting for a motivated and compassionate Clinical & Neuroimaging Research Coordinator to work on a collaborative research project between the two labs investigating the relationships between sleep disturbances, brain function, emotional well-being, and substance misuse.
Current projects include:
- An NIH funded clinical trial studying the mechanistic interrelationship between sleep, co-occurring cannabis and alcohol use disorder, and neurocircuit dysfunction during early abstinence.
We are looking for a Research Coordinator to be an active contributor to all aspects of study operations and work closely with the Principal Investigators, Dr. Andrea Goldstein-Piekarski and Dr. Claudia Padula. The right person for this job will be able to hit the ground running and take responsibility for participant recruitment, fMRI scanning, hdEEG data acquisition, and data organization. We are looking for someone who is detail oriented and can trouble-shoot independently while recognizing when to ask questions. Comfort and skill with working with a diverse patient population is essential. There will also be opportunities to gain research experience in additional areas, such as in data analysis, fMRI and EEG pre-processing procedures, actigraphy, basic wetlab training to process genetic samples, scientific presentations and reports to NIH.

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time position of Research Assistant to assist in the day-to-day operations of human laboratory research studies related to substance use being conducted by the Principal Investigator in the Division on Substance Use Disorders. Currently, one study involves examining brain activity using fMRI in cannabis users and another pilot study involves examining stress reactivity among transgender individuals. The selected candidate must be well-organized, detail-oriented, able to maintain the high level of accuracy with minimal supervision, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and able to work with a team. The candidate also must be willing to work with a substance using population and transgender individuals. The selected candidate should be meticulous in carrying out research and enjoy working with human research participants. This position involves multitasking and anticipating laboratory/PI needs. Working knowledge of various software programs on both the Mac and PC (e.g., "Microsoft" Office Programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint is important to this role. The candidate should be willing to learn experiment-running software such as MATLAB and E-Prime and have familiarity with various software programs (word, excel, PowerPoint, SPSS) is preferred. The selected candidate must be willing to work flexible hours; one study involves coming in Saturday mornings to discharge participants from the inpatient unit- usually twice a month for about 1-2 hours. This position involves multitasking and anticipating laboratory/PI needs. Must be willing to handle biological samples and perform blood drawing; training will be provided before being allowed to draw blood samples.
Must follow: 1) all employee procedures as required by RFMH, 2) laboratory protocols, procedures, and laboratory standard operating procedures. The candidate needs to be comfortable working in a human research setting with diverse research participants since the participants include substance abusers and transgender populations. Prior experience with fMRI procedures preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Research Assistant will include:
- Implement research protocols as described in the funded grants, and as approved by the IRB.
- Coordinate the protocols, be responsible for recruitment and screening, conducting telephone interviews, handling screening visits to ensure all assessments/questionnaires are completed, scheduling psychological interviews and physical examinations, performing electrocardiograms, drawing blood samples (training will be provided), collecting urine samples, performing urine drug screens, monitoring vital signs, and scheduling sessions.
- Much of the initial screening will be done remotely via Qualtrics and REDCap.
- Conduct the day-long laboratory sessions on site that includes training participants, carefully monitoring participants during the sessions to ensure that all procedures during sessions are completed, properly entered, and documented, preparing, and providing participants meals according to the protocol, monitoring vital signs, routinely keeping investigators informed throughout the session, and alerting investigators immediately with any issues.
- Run and assist with functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) sessions.
- Oversee admission and discharge of participants to the inpatient research unit and liaise with unit staff members; 6) Make and maintain participant/patient charts.
- Liaise with a multidisciplinary group including psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, staff on the inpatient unit and the MRI facility, as well as other research assistants and administrative personnel.

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a part-time Research Support Assistant to work in a grant-funded behavioral pharmacology cannabis research laboratory who will be responsible for observing and recording research participants' activities in a residential cannabis laboratory.
Applicants should have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, good judgment, and the ability to work without continuous supervision are also critical components of this position. The hours for this position are as follows: Evenings (3:30pm - 11:30pm) and Overnight (11:30pm-7:30am); at least 1 overnight shift per week. May include weekends and may include occasional day shifts (7:30am-3:30pm).
Work schedule is flexible and irregular; may work a combination of daytime and evening, weekday, and weekend shifts, as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include:
- Use computers to record participants' behaviors.
- Communicate with participants.
- Process food requests.
- Assist in operational activities.
- Assist in participant phone screening.
- Data collection, transfer, and entry.
- Assist in regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA).
- Assist in petty cash and credit card handling.
- Assist with vitals measurement (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate, carbon monoxide, breathalyzer).
- Food handling and inventory maintenance.
- Will work under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager and Principal Investigators of the Cannabis Research Laboratory.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree OR 2+ years of experience with computers, behavioral science, and human subject research required.
- Flexible availability required (position includes evening and weekend shifts).
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least two years of experience with computers, behavioral science, and human subject research.
- At least one year of experience with data entry, database use, and research experience.
- At least one year of experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Job Summary
Technician will be expected to carry out experiments designed by the PI and postdoctoral fellows in discussion with the technician. Research projects in the lab focus on novel drug delivery devices, the endogenous cannabinoid system, its role in health and disease, and how the constituents of cannabis (e.g., THC and cannabidiol) interact with endocannabinoids to produce their effects (both beneficial and detrimental). The technician will consult with other research personnel on appropriate lab procedures.

Nature of Work
The Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) has an opening for a full-time position at the rank of Senior Professional Research Assistant (Sr.PRA).
This position is for a Sr. PRA who will serve as a project team lead with the Cannabis Research & Policy Project at the Colorado School of Public Health. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and coordinating the education campaign related to high concentration THC cannabis products based-on the results of a scoping review and additional reviews conducted by the project team. The focus of this education campaign may include messaging related to accurate evidence on the health effects of cannabis, education about safe, legal, and responsible use of adult-use cannabis, evidence-based strategies that prevent youth cannabis use, and prevention strategies for limiting risky use of cannabis.
The Sr. PRA will collaborate with the broader project team on the strategic direction of the public awareness campaign work. One step will be to coordinate a review of the evidence of the effectiveness of educational campaigns and to survey past and current campaigns in Colorado and elsewhere. The Sr. PRA project team lead will also engage with faculty members and others who will be involved in designing the campaign. The Sr. PRA may also lead the selection and supervision of a media vendor to conduct the campaign strategy. The incumbent must have high-level project management experience, strong organizational skills, and be able to balance the input of many different stakeholders across the state including diverse communities and will work very closely with the broader project team to conduct this collaborative work. . This position will also have to coordinate with internal partners and external subject matter experts to develop, implement and coordinate paid, earned, and social media communications for the project’s efforts. The Sr. PRA works within the Colorado School of Public Health, and reports directly to the Dean of the School.
The incumbent in this position must independently perform a full range of professional tasks. The individual must also be able to work with and balance the interests of a multitude of various stakeholders and partners. The individual must have knowledge of communication and marketing strategies, best practices, and tactics in public health. The individual needs skills related to developing evidence-based communication campaigns and understanding of models of behavior change. Additional needed skills include problem solving and the ability to link interventions to relevant evidence. This person must also be able to navigate the challenges of communicating on a controversial issue.

Administrative duties

Assistant Professor, Biological and Biochemical Research
Morehouse School Of Medicine
Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) is developing a Natural Products Research Center (NPRC), which will focus on biological and biochemical research aimed at identifying, validating, and developing therapies from natural based products (e.g., plants, viruses, other natural sources). And the NPRC is establishing a new area of research around medical cannabis and the endocannabinoid system. Hence, the successful candidate will be expected to work with existing and future NPRC faculty and staff, to teach and train students in biochemistry, and therapeutic development and analysis, while developing or maintaining their own independent, yet collaborative, research program. Thus, we are seeking a candidate with (i) expertise in drug development and analysis and (ii) the background in this system to build this new area at MSM. Preferred linked broad research areas that already exist at MSM are cancer, infectious diseases, neurology, or cardiometabolic disease. Finally, familiarity with, and/or experience using, current bioinformatic methods to analyze and visualize data (e.g., proteomic, metabolomic, lipidomic) is important.
The Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Immunology (MBI) has a national and international network allowing a wide array of, and ample opportunities for collaboration in multiple research areas. These areas include immunology, drug development, genomics, complementary & integrative health, natural product-based research, cancer, and infectious diseases including virology, protozoology, and bacteriology. MSM has renovated core facilities providing both basic shared-use equipment as well as specialized services such as microparticle analysis, zebra fish development, and advanced imaging facilities.

Job Description:
The Research Assistant will work on NIDA-funded research focused on cannabis use following trauma exposure among young adults during the days and weeks immediately following trauma exposure. Primary responsibilities will be related to the R01 investigation “Cannabis use following trauma exposure: An observational study of the impact of acute stress and fear response on cannabis outcomes.” The research involves in vivo characterization of experiential and physiological phenomena among cannabis users during the critical first weeks after discharge from medical emergency department visit following a traumatic event. Ecological methods and wearables devices (i.e., smartwatches) are utilized to understand real-time, real-world experiences. Follow-up assessments include semi-structured interviews as well as implementation of laboratory procedures involving psychophysiological and visual attention indicators. Results of this investigation will inform a number of intervention approaches including therapeutic, EMA-based adjunctive intervention, and pharmacological approaches.
Responsibilities may include preparation and maintenance of study record, completion of baseline and follow-up study procedures, completion of training (and setup) with participants on the use of the ecological devices, scheduling of follow-up assessments, driving to participant homes to pick up research devices, conducting closely supervised clinical interviews, and implementation of laboratory procedures that include the use of psychophysiological and substance use screens. This position will need to be able to learn REDCap and enter data as well as learn how to implement procedures for setup of the ecological devices. The Research Assistant may be responsible for basic statistical analyses of data and in preparation of data for presentations. Lastly, this position will work closely with other study staff and the principle investigator(s) with regards to study management, preparation of Institutional Review Board (IRB) documentation, reporting to NIDA/NIH, and other administrative tasks.
This research study is being conducted in collaboration with the RI Resilience Lab at Brown University with Drs. Leslie Brick and Nicole Nugent (Primary Investigators). RI Resilience Lab implements innovative and impactful research with real world implications for individuals and families coping with trauma and adversity. The lab is committed to a culture of collaboration and respect across diverse training and individual backgrounds; faculty are committed to promoting career and professional development for lab members.

Job Description:
This Research Assistant (RA) will support a mixed-methods (laboratory and field-based) study of cannabis and alcohol and cannabis co-use on alcohol outcomes. Activities will include participant recruitment and screening, following project protocol for retention of participants, collecting data, data entry, and general support work of the project. The RA is expected to work with individuals participating in addictions-related research to be assessed during laboratory and field-based research protocols. The RA is expected to screen and assess individuals for eligibility and to collect laboratory data involving the administration of alcohol and cannabis, train participants in protocol for a field-based data collection and monitor that data collection daily. The RA is expected to help with organization and maintenance of project documents and files and help with assembling materials for IRB modifications and progress reports. Finally, the RA may be required to have their own form of transportation, as they will possibly travel within ~25 miles of Providence, RI to conduct brief assessments at participants’ homes or neutral off-site locations. RA will be compensated for the mileage.
Note: This is a fixed term position with an end date of 5/1/2027, which may be extended based upon available funding.
Major Responsibility: Laboratory data collection with research participants. 30 %
Supporting Actions: The RA will be responsible for collection of psychological, behavioral, and cognitive data from research participants in accordance with a standardized protocol involving laboratory cannabis and alcohol administration. The RA will conduct in-person and telephone interviews with research participants and administer clinical diagnostic interviews and standardized tests. Valid data collection requires a clear understanding of project objectives and assessment instruments. The RA will be responsible for administration of cannabis and alcohol to participants following standardized procedures. The RA will administer the study testing materials including assessment battery, computer-based behavioral tests, clinical diagnostic interviews, urine drug and pregnancy tests, and other biological indicators of alcohol, tobacco, and drug use in accordance with standardized research protocol. The RA will be responsible for scheduling and meeting with research participants and administering the study assessment protocol and sobriety evaluation at the end of the study visits. The RA will administer informed consent to study participants and will ensure that informed consent forms are collected and securely stored. The RA will be prepared to handle potential adverse reactions and intoxication following appropriate training in protocol procedures and seek guidance as per the study protocol. They will ensure that data are collected in a timely and complete manner and will reviews data packets for compliance with research protocol. The RA will ensure that study protocol is executed with great attention to detail and following exact study procedures. The RA will ensure that all study assessments are conducted with a high degree of reliability, accuracy, and in adherence with the study protocol. The RA will be responsible for understanding and implementing all study procedures related to participant safety and confidentiality. Excellent communication skills are necessary for interactions with the research team and study participants. Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently are necessary to implement the study protocol correctly and efficiently.

Supporting Actions: The RA will be expected to assist the PI in programming and monitoring screening logs and surveys in Qualtrics and smartphone-based ecological momentary assessment (EMA) surveys. The RA will also track participants during the EMA portion of the study using detailed logs; and correspond with participants regarding compliance. The RA will train participants in mobile data collection procedures and conduct daily tracking of survey completion to monitor participant compliance. Finally, the RA will need to travel to a participant's home or neutral location to conduct data collection.

Supporting Actions: The RA will be expected to post advertisements (virtually and physically around town), field contact attempts from interested participants, manage screening, and schedule eligible participants. In addition, once enrolled the RA will be expected to keep in regular contact with participants with the goal of retaining them in the study, including reminder calls, texts, and emails.

Supporting Actions: The RA will be responsible for tracking research participants, scheduling study visits, and arranging transportation for participants. The RA will disburse and record participant payments in a timely manner according to established protocol. The RA will maintain complete and up-to-date records on participant study completion and monitor participant status. Other administrative duties include generation of internal reports on project progress, tracking of study supplies, and calibration of basic research equipment such as digital breath analysis devices. Provide assistance to the PI and project coordinator in preparing IRB submissions and assist with continuing review materials for the various agencies that provide monitoring and oversight of the study (NIH, FDA, DEA).

They will be trained on cleaning statistical data including running computerized error checks on data sets, checking raw data for errors, and identifying data irregularities.

), 12-month, fixed-term academic faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head.
The primary purpose of this position is to manage the Global Hemp Innovation Center’s (GHIC) hemp germplasm program and conduct applied breeding and genetics research in hemp (
Cannabis sativa L.). Crop and Soil Science is one of the largest departments within the College of Agricultural Sciences, comprising 50 on-campus and 24 off-campus faculty, 8 departmental staff, 20 seed service professionals, and more than 100 students. College of Agricultural Sciences faculty are committed to enhancing student success by engaging students in quality academic, research, internships, global studies, and other experiential learning opportunities.
Position Duties
70% Research
- Research topics may include but are not limited to: 1) phenotyping hemp germplasm; 2) conduct research on hemp germplasm preservation; 3) conduct research on the development of synthetic hemp populations associated with improved fiber, grain, or chemical/essential oils types; 4) conduct collaborative research on hemp with other researchers in the Department of Crop and Soil Science and or/other departments in the College of Agriculture and other OSU Colleges affiliated with GHIC; 5) collaborate with researchers from other institutions including the USDA National Plant Germplasm System; 6) design and conduct participatory research projects with growers and other stakeholders; 7) develop improved hemp germplasm; and 8) develop an efficient system for maintaining and distributing hemp germplasm.
- Develop and obtain extramural funding for the support of research activity through grants, gifts, and contracts.

Conduct outreach activities targeting GHIC stakeholder groups that are most relevant to the incumbents’ research program.

The primary purpose of this position is to manage the Global Hemp Innovation Center’s (GHIC) hemp germplasm program and conduct applied breeding and genetics research in hemp (
Cannabis sativa L.). Crop and Soil Science is one of the largest departments within the College of Agricultural Sciences, comprising 50 on-campus and 24 off-campus faculty, 8 departmental staff, 20 seed service professionals, and more than 100 students. College of Agricultural Sciences faculty are committed to enhancing student success by engaging students in quality academic, research, internships, global studies, and other experiential learning opportunities.
Position Duties
70% Research
- Research topics may include but are not limited to: 1) phenotyping hemp germplasm; 2) conduct research on hemp germplasm preservation; 3) conduct research on the development of synthetic hemp populations associated with improved fiber, grain, or chemical/essential oils types; 4) conduct collaborative research on hemp with other researchers in the Department of Crop and Soil Science and or/other departments in the College of Agriculture and other OSU Colleges affiliated with GHIC; 5) collaborate with researchers from other institutions including the USDA National Plant Germplasm System; 6) design and conduct participatory research projects with growers and other stakeholders; 7) develop improved hemp germplasm; and 8) develop an efficient system for maintaining and distributing hemp germplasm.
- Develop and obtain extramural funding for the support of research activity through grants, gifts, and contracts.
10% Outreach
Conduct outreach activities targeting GHIC stakeholder groups that are most relevant to the incumbents’ research program.
- Organize, host, and present at field days.
- Present at stakeholder- and grower-focused conferences and events.
- Communicate research through conferences, workshops, webinars, project websites, social media, and bulletins.
10% Scholarship

At OHSU's Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences, we perform research and innovation for a health workforce to improve workers' lives through biomedical and occupational research.
The successful candidate will work on various projects under Steven A. Shea, Ph.D., Director of the Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences with immediate supervision by senior research staff. This research aims to understand the effects of disturbed sleep and circadian rhythms on physiology and pathophysiology in humans. In particular, we investigate the adverse health effects of shift work, the mechanisms underlying the morning peak in adverse cardiovascular events (myocardial infarction, stroke), and how sleep and circadian rhythms may contribute to racial disparities in health. Dr. Bowles also examines the impact of the growing consumption of cannabis including those with increased concentrations of THC among other increasingly available cannabinoids on sleep and circadian rhythms. These studies will lead to interventions designed to improve night shift-workers' and vulnerable populations' health, safety, and well-being.
Function/Duties of Position:
Responsibilities include running research projects in human volunteers, including 1) the development of recruitment materials (e.g., online and print advertisements and surveys); 2) medically screen volunteer research participants over the phone and in-person; perform data collection using a variety of noninvasive physiological monitoring devices (e.g., EKG, blood pressure, breathing, sleep, core body temperature); 3) set up, test and maintain equipment; and carry out administrative tasks as needed (e.g., preparing and submitting Institutional Review Board documents). The successful candidate will also be responsible for data analysis, assist with literature searches, prepare posters/presentations, and help with grant writing.

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a part-time Research Assistant (Laboratory Monitor) working in a grant-funded behavioral pharmacology cannabis research laboratory will be responsible for observing and recording research participants' activities in a residential cannabis laboratory.

Research Assistant - Cannabis Study
Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine
Three (3) research assistants will assist investigators from PCOM's School of Professional and Applied Psychology (clinical department) with a three-year study of outcomes in individuals beginning medical cannabis therapy. Funding of these positions are contingent upon the continued funding of the grant/contract.
The positions will require full-time, remote work at one of three medical cannabis dispensary study sites in Enola, PA (1 position), Chambersburg, PA (1 position) and East York, PA (1 position). Travel to internal study meetings at PCOM will be required at times.
This position is based at PCOM (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Screen, recruit and get consent from study participants.
- Work with dispensary staff to identify potential participants.
- Obtain study-related data from participant dispensary records.
- Schedule study visits.
- Collect study-related interviews, surveys, weights/heights and assessments.
- Enter data.
- Conduct literature reviews.
- Prepare materials for submission to external funding sources.
- Prepare materials for IRB review.
- Maintain study databases and participant tracking systems.
- Request or acquire equipment, surveys or supplies necessary for the project.
- Attend project meetings.
- Attend site visits and other meetings as necessary.
- Prepare reports for study investigators and funders.
- Participate in study-related peer-reviewed publications.
- Monitor the project budget.
- Perform related responsibilities as required.

Our lab’s goal is to better understand the full range of psychological, neurocognitive, physiological, and genomic factors that influence health and risk behavior in order to develop interventions to increase healthy behaviors, decrease risk behaviors, and ultimately decrease morbidity and mortality, and increase the quality of life. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
The Senior Professional Research Assistant/Lab Manager will have a variety of responsibilities including administrative, human resource, data management, undergraduate mentorship, and scholarly aspects of a portfolio of multiple federally funded transdisciplinary research studies. Tasks on a day-to-day basis include but are not necessarily limited to:
- Application review, phone screening, in-person interviews, and coordination with departments and human resources for all team member hiring.
- Onboarding, training, performance review and ongoing human resources including mentorship, planning team-building events, and conflict mediation.
- Supervision of our center’s undergraduate program, including student orientation, independent studies, independent research projects and applications to outside funding, outreach to underrepresented students and diverse departments (ex. computer science, engineering, integrated physiology).
- Maintenance of center’s media presence including multiple websites, Twitter, team and PI photography, and managing press requests
- Lead center’s data management team in secure, standard methodologies of automated data transfer and storage, development and implementation of novel technological tools, recruitment and supervision for team members, and training and support for all team members in REDCap.
- Liaison to administrative staff in two departments and collaborators from other departments and institutions, Institutional Review Board, Research Computing, and other entities.
- Monitor budget projections for externally funded studies, maintaining spending tracking sheets, reporting monthly spending trends to PIs, devising short- and long-term spending goals/strategies.
- Contribute to grant applications at all stages of development and facilitate submission to CU’s Office of Contracts and Grants for submission to NIH.

The candidate will assist in the day-to-day operations of studies in the Substance Use Research Center at the New York State Psychiatric Institute. The start date for this position is planned for summer 2020, though is dependent on the resolution of the COVID-19 situation. We are looking for candidates who can ideally commit two years to our team.
The candidate will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day lab procedures and ensuring the smooth operation of the Cannabis Research Laboratory. Responsibilities include telephone screening for inpatient and outpatient laboratory research studies, carrying out study procedures, collecting data, and submitting and maintaining IRB protocols. The candidate will also be responsible for scheduling physical and psychological interviews, scheduling hourly staff, managing and training volunteers, and conducting laboratory physiological measures (blood pressure, electrocardiograms, blood draws, urine sample collection and drug testing).
Duties also include maintaining accurate and comprehensive records of research sessions, data entry and organization, managing petty cash payments, and ordering laboratory supplies.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a social or biological science. Organizational skills, attention to detail, good judgment and the ability to work without continuous supervision are critical components of this position. Need to be willing to work flexible shifts, including evenings/weekends. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are essential. Must agree to be certified in phlebotomy.
Preferred Qualifications:

POSITION SUMMARY
The Research Assistant will be a critical part of the Conception Nurseries team. You are responsible for participating in the design, administration and monitoring of the clinical studies. Consults with R&D team based on the progress of research projects and coordinates analytical reports to support the findings. This position will report to the Director of R&D.
Keys to Success in this role include:
- Ability to produce and analyze data and synthesize into detailed reports that allows for improved decision making.
- Ensure compliance with protocol and overall clinical objectives.
Detailed responsibilities to include…
- Work with the R&D team to identify areas of growth and additional revenue opportunities while exploiting the existing opportunities related to cannabis tissue culture. Researches and monitors existing client base and industry developments and identifies potential new product opportunities.
- Optimize revenue through analysis of improved methodologies for direct regeneration, and micropropagation.
- Maintain product vision and execution. Formulate strategies and plans for research.
- Utilize analysis tools and tracking systems that enables the product to hit revenue targets.
- Executes research for new products, products enhancements, and product redesign. Evaluates the potential of products in design.
- Troubleshoot when necessary to optimize culture growth and address problems immediately.
- Write and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
- Organize data and develop detailed reports regarding the outcome of experiments in a timely manner

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years' experience in agriculture and laboratory.
- 1 year experience with propagation.

Research Study Assistant

Summary:
This position works with the Northwest Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center (NW MIRECC) conducting world class biomedical research.
The NW MIRECC develops novel and improved treatments for major behavioral disorders afflicting veterans, directing major resources to support research, education, and treatment for neuropsychiatric disorders highly prevalent among combat-exposed returnees including posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and blast concussive mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). This position will interact with a multidisciplinary group of clinical and basic investigators, as well as other clinicians, social workers, fellows, volunteer research participants, community partners, scientific collaborators, and Department of Defense components, locally and nationally.
This position support translational neuroscience research; treatment of PTSD and trauma; treatment of common comorbidities such as repetitive blast mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), alcohol use disorder (AUD), cannabis use disorders, chronic pain, and cognitive impairment; and design and implementation of clinical trials.
Responsibilities:
Under minimal supervision and guidance, the research study assistant will:
- Schedule participant appointments and coordinate study activities with MIRECC staff
- Assist with recruiting research volunteers
- Create, modify, and maintain study data collection documents and files
- Record, organize, verify, transcribe, and upload research study data
- Prepare and organize regulatory materials for investigators and staff
- Inventory and resupply study specific materials and kits
- Participate in research study visits and procedures
- Accompany study participants to various research procedures
- Conduct vital signs, ECGs, psychometric testing, and phlebotomy
- Use physiologic monitoring equipment, such as pupillometry and actigraphy
- Process/test urine, blood, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)
- Ship and track human biological samples
- Maintain confidentiality of participant and study records at all times
- Serve as protocol resource for participants and staff
- Perform other related duties as needed

Under supervision of the neuromedical core manager, incumbent provides general laboratory and research support to staff at the HIV Neurobehavioral Research Program (HNRP) and Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research (CMCR). Assist in collection research specimen via phlebotomy and logs laboratory fluid samples, assists in review of participant charts to identify relevant data, compiles data manually and/or electronically, assists in review of case report forms and performs case report form queries. Sample collection tasks will include drawing the participants’ blood, processing samples through centrifugation and pipetting, labeling each specimen correctly, as well as safely transporting and storing blood samples.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Theoretical knowledge in Biology, Neuroscience, Psychiatry or a related field.
Must possess a current California Phlebotomy certificate.
Previous experience in a clinical/patient based research environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of general laboratory techniques such as pipetting, measuring and operation of laboratory equipment.
Proven ability to recognize specific laboratory results and identify abnormal values such as high triglyceride level (>500mg/dL) or high potassium level (7.0mmL/L).
Knowledge of medical terminology, especially clinical terminology related to HIV.
Computer (PC and Mac) knowledge to effectively use spreadsheets, databases, word processing programs, and electronic mail, and navigate the internet. Experience using MS Office Suite, including Excel and Word and databases (i.e., Filemaker Pro, JMP/SAS).
Experience and demonstrated skill in processing serum, plasma, and lymphocytes from whole blood derived from research subjects.
Proven ability to accurately enter data into a laboratory data management computer program.
Demonstrated ability to retrieve specimens from bio-repository for assays or shipments upon request. This includes conducting a large-scale database search for available specimens.
Demonstrated knowledge of separation techniques to isolate CSF cells and lymphocytes from research subject derived specimens.
Demonstrated knowledge of sterile technique and of universal precautions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of UCSD Laboratory Procedures and requirements for biological specimen handling.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Must have access to reliable transportation.
Must be able to work an occasional Saturday.
Must be willing to work at a large research center focused on HIV and cannabis.
