The Department of Civil, Environmental & Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder is seeking a highly motivated and independent scholar with training and deep expertise the areas of microalgae cultivation and scale-up. The research assistant will oversee the installation and operation of laboratory-scale photobioreactor systems and design and conduct coccolithophore microalgae growth optimization experiments. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Oversee the installation and operation of a 100-1000 L photobioreactor system.
- Design and conduct coccolithophore microalgae growth experiments in support of project goals and milestones.
- Design and conduct fundamental biological experiments in support of project goals and milestones.
- Assist with the design and execution of alternative cement-based materials science/materials characterization experiments in support of project goals and milestones.
- Work collaboratively with a diverse, interdisciplinary team of graduate students and research scientists, internal and external to the University of Colorado Boulder.
- Collect, prepare, and analyze data for publication in high-quality scientific journals.
- Prepare visual media for scientific and technical audiences.
- Participate in innovation and entrepreneurship training programs, conferences, and workshops.
- Interface with public and private funding agencies and industrial partners, as appropriate.

Senior Professional Research Assistant

We are seeking a highly organized Senior Professional Research Assistant/Lab Manager to join the CUChange research team. Our lab’s goal is to better understand the full range of psychological, neurocognitive, physiological, and genomic factors that influence health and risk behavior in order to develop interventions to increase healthy behaviors, decrease risk behaviors, and ultimately decrease morbidity and mortality, and increase the quality of life. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
The Senior Professional Research Assistant/Lab Manager will have a variety of responsibilities including administrative, human resource, data management, undergraduate mentorship, and scholarly aspects of a portfolio of multiple federally funded transdisciplinary research studies. - Monitor budget projections for externally funded studies, maintaining spending tracking sheets, reporting monthly spending trends to PIs, devising short- and long-term spending goals/strategies.
- Contribute to grant applications at all stages of development and facilitate submission to CU’s Office of Contracts and Grants for submission to NIH.

What We Require
- A Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, neuroscience or a related field.
- At least two years of previous research experience and some managerial experience is preferred. Skill across all MS Word platforms.
- REDCap project design and management experience, some programming ability (e.g., Python, data management pipeline, and infrastructure design) would be highly desirable.

- A Master’s Degree in psychology, neuroscience or a related field
- Experience with HR-related policies and procedures, including time approvals, team member promotions, and exit procedures.
- Solid experience in research and familiarity with NIH-grant funded research.
- Managerial experience.
- Experience with monthly financial reporting procedures.
- Experience overseeing center’s mentorship and continuing education programming and trainees including lab meeting programming, educational workshop scheduling, and invitation of outside researchers.
- Experience in institutional space and resources, including biomarker lab certification, tracking and maintenance of equipment, office and research spaces, online accounts, and software licenses.
- Maintenance of clinicaltrials.gov protocol entries.
- Experience coordinating travel and travel reimbursement.

The University of Colorado’s Center for Health and Addiction: Neuroscience, Genes and Environment (CUChange) has an available half-time Professional Research Assistant and position. We are a motivated team that conducts transdisciplinary research exploring factors linked with health and risk behavior in regard to exercise, Cannabis use, and alcohol consumption.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Assist with study participant recruitment and screening, leading study visits including informed consent, performing blood draw, urine, and breathalyzer tests, conducting cognitive, self-report, and motor battery tasks with study participants, and driving a mobile laboratory (Dodge Sprinter) to study appointments. Capable of working effectively and respectfully with regular Cannabis users ranging from 21 to 70 years old, with a variety of backgrounds, lifestyles, and personalities.
