Duties include:

The Stanford Prevention Research Center (SPRC) is a consortium of renowned experts who are world leaders in investigating ways to prevent disease and promote health. Their work is focused on identifying the most practical, science-based solutions for addressing some of society's most pervasive and preventable health issues, such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic conditions and to raise the standards of scientific investigation that matters for health. SPRC investigators are collaborating on numerous, long-term projects designed to translate research into effective ways to promote well-being at every stage of life.
Stanford Prevention Research Center and the ASPiRE Center (aspirecenter.org) is hiring a Data Analyst. The Center goal is to build a strong scientific evidence base for effective policies in the retail environment to help reduce tobacco use, tobacco-related disparities, and the public health burden of tobacco, including cancer. Our team works with a variety of data sources, including surveys of adults in 30 US cities who smoke cigarettes daily, surveys about tobacco and cannabis use among students attending community college or 4-year university in California, retail marketing surveillance in stores that sell tobacco, and spatial data about tobacco retailers and school/university campuses.
Working closely with a senior statistician, the Data Analyst curates, manages, and analyzes multiple datasets of varying size and complexity. The incumbent will design and perform statistical analyses including descriptive statistics, regression or other modeling, and data visualization. Position requires flexibility to work on multiple projects simultaneously and familiarity with multiple statistical software programs. The incumbent will develop and execute protocols to clean datasets, assign variable and value labels, and produce documentation materials. Position involves interaction with collaborators at multiple universities and state/local health departments. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate analysis results to expert and lay audiences. Must be able to work independently, as well as collaborate with lab members and other researchers at Stanford and partner institutions regarding development of surveys, datasets and documentation. Opportunities to contribute to manuscripts and attend scientific conferences, as appropriate.
Duties include:
- Work under consultative or self-initiated direction to assess and produce relevant, standard, or custom information (reports, charts, graphs and tables) from structured data sources by querying data repositories and generating the associated information. Distribute and disseminate reports to applicable agencies, researchers, management and other internal end-users.
- Devise methods for identifying data patterns, trends in available information sources using a variety of qualitative and quantitative techniques. Determine and recommend additional data collection and reporting requirements.
- Design and customize reports based upon data in the database.
- Create non-routine databases and their related information summary; develop algorithms and statistical model; and perform statistical analyses appropriate to complex data and reporting requirements.

Assistant Clinical and Neuroimaging Research Coordinator (2 open positions)

The Assistant Clinical and Neuroimaging Research Coordinator will work on a collaborative project of the Padula BRAVE Lab and the Computational Psychiatry, Neuroimaging, and Sleep Lab.
The Padula BRAVE Lab, led by Dr. Claudia Padula, is focused on understanding the brain circuits that underlie addictive behaviors, such as alcohol use disorder (AUD). The primary goal of this research is to understand biological markers that impact treatment outcomes, as well as their modifiability. The long-term goal of the Padula BRAVE Lab is to increase precision and availability of treatment options for those suffering from addiction.
The CoPsyN Sleep Lab, led by Dr. Andrea Goldstein-Piekarski, is focused on translational clinical research and utilizes human neuroimaging, high density EEG, computational methods, and clinical psychology to examine the role of sleep physiology in the development, maintenance, and treatment of psychopathology across the lifespan.
The Computational Psychiatry, Neuroimaging and Sleep Laboratory (CoPsyN Sleep Lab) is currently recruiting for a motivated and compassionate Clinical & Neuroimaging Research Coordinator to work on a collaborative research project between the two labs investigating the relationships between sleep disturbances, brain function, emotional well-being, and substance misuse.
Current projects include:
- An NIH funded clinical trial studying the mechanistic interrelationship between sleep, co-occurring cannabis and alcohol use disorder, and neurocircuit dysfunction during early abstinence.
We are looking for a Research Coordinator to be an active contributor to all aspects of study operations and work closely with the Principal Investigators, Dr. Andrea Goldstein-Piekarski and Dr. Claudia Padula. The right person for this job will be able to hit the ground running and take responsibility for participant recruitment, fMRI scanning, hdEEG data acquisition, and data organization. We are looking for someone who is detail oriented and can trouble-shoot independently while recognizing when to ask questions. Comfort and skill with working with a diverse patient population is essential. There will also be opportunities to gain research experience in additional areas, such as in data analysis, fMRI and EEG pre-processing procedures, actigraphy, basic wetlab training to process genetic samples, scientific presentations and reports to NIH.

- 1-2 years of related hands-on experience in acquiring data that requires a high level of technical skill and attention to detail (including but not limited to functional MRI, EEG, lab-based assays etc.)

- Previous experience in psychological test administration and research design
- Hands-on experience administering structured diagnostic interviews such as the DUKE, MINI, and/or TLFB
- Strong interest of human neuroscience techniques and experimental design including EEG and fMRI
