Position Summary/Objective

The Lab Manager / Extraction Manage
This position is a lead, supervisory position. The Extraction Manager position is responsible for directing the work of others and assisting in the manufacturing lab where the company produces marijuana concentrates. Position Overview
The Lab Manager will be responsible for product development, oversee the extraction process and manage the laboratory team.
The Lab Manager is also responsible for direct oversight of the productivity, tracking and governmental compliance of all cannabis processing and packaging. Must be able to effectively direct, lead and schedule lab techs, kitchen staff and packaging associates. The Lab Manager will provide oversight of all labeling & tracking to ensure that the facility is compliant with OSHA, MED, Metrc and state regulations at all times. Additionally, the Lab Manager is responsible for ensuring all company policies are upheld and all company-provided standard operating procedures are adhered to.
The Laboratory Manager works closely with the Post Harvest Manager, Cultivation Manager, and Dispensary Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Hire and manage all staff needed for the lab, kitchen and packaging departments
- Oversee the installation of AMP’s laboratory and ensure operational excellence
- Implement the state regulated compliance system METRC
- Effective supervision of facility staff using clear communication and frequent constructive feedback; display knowledge, leadership and guidance to all lab employees
- Understand and follow all safety protocols, compliance and SOPS
- Ensure labeling and tracking is executed properly and efficiently in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures & METRC Regulations
- Collaborate with the Cultivation Manager, Kitchen Manager & Dispensary Manager with the production and scheduling of all manufacturing duties, including planning from all harvests and post harvest processes.
- Ensure a steady stream of high quality product is available to our dispensary at all times
- Accommodate influxes of raw product to process
- Ensure facility is consistently stocked with appropriate supplies, raw materials , and packaging materials
- Adhere to company standards including maintaining high ethical standards and professionalism
- All other job duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemistry or Engineering field
- 5 or more years experience working in a large scale cannabis grow facility’s laboratory
- Proficient in various extraction and concentrate/distillation systems
- Proficient in creating a wide array of products including ingestibles and edibles
- Understand and be able to oversee and manage all lab processes
- Self-management and supervisory management
- Analytical skills, adaptability, problem solving and versatility
- Desired work ethic includes being detail oriented, highly organized, positive, enthusiastic, eager to learn and a good communicator

- Develop strategies to increase productivity and production with existing methodologies.
- Oversee preparation of equipment and plant material for extractions.
- Assist in company product formulations of various types with specific cannabinoid ratios.
- Calculate input requirements, assemble, and weigh plant materials and supplies.
- QA/QC duties that require analytical testing for quality and consistency and data review.
- Operate extraction and post-processing equipment; process concentrates and extracts.

Summary/Objective:
The Extraction Manager reports to the Director of Manufacturing and is responsible for managing all daily operations of the Extraction Department, leading a patient-centric team and providing clear direction to achieve Company initiatives. Additionally, the Extraction Manager implements and maintains the Company policies and procedures and ensures compliance with all state and local laws and regulations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Policies, Procedures & Daily Operations
- Creating raw Supercritical CO2 (SCCO2) concentrate.
- Crating distilled, high-purity concentrate for use in MIOs and vaporizer cartridges as well as other products created from extracted cannabis.
- Plan and direct extract preparation, production, and packaging
- Modify menus or create new ones that meet quality standards with approval from the Production Manager
- Preparing of all materials for extraction including trim selection based on best extraction method, decarboxylation, and calibration and audit of all technical equipment before use
- Collaborate with the Ops. Controller to estimate trim needs and labor costs, as well as, ordering all materials & supplies for extraction.
- Coordinate equipment purchases and repairs with the Production Manager
- Ensure compliance at all times with all sanitation regulations and safety standards in the production of all extracted products produced by the Company as set in Company Policy and Procedure Manuals
- Responsible for supervision and development of Lab Technician.
- Coordinate with Production and Facility manager for sample collecting and testing lab execution as needed of all MIPs products
- Maintaining a rigid cleaning schedule dividing focus of duties daily, weekly, and monthly as needed
- Updating and auditing Communication Binder for current information and updates.
- Executing and enforcing compliance of all local and state regulations.
- Maintains accountability of all team members, in relation to specific job description.
- Preparing weekly schedules to ensure there is proper coverage based on the business needs
- Upholding all Company policies and procedures and providing feedback for any potential procedural changes which may occur within the Department to the Director of Manufacturing.
- Coordinate scheduling of all facility maintenance, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and technology with the Production Manager.
- Providing Director of Manufacturing with feedback on inventory on weekly basis.

Training & Development
- Recruiting, interviewing and hiring cultivation team members.
- Making sure that all team members are current on product knowledge and can train their teams.
- Performing annual performance evaluations.
- Executing performance counseling, when needed Attend meetings as needed
Driving Business/Sales
- Ensuring that cultivation is producing sufficient flowers to meet the needs of MIPs and extractions.
- Producing quality product free of pests and contaminants.

- Maintaining strict inventory records of all plant materials, chemicals and equipment used in the laboratory.
- Operating, maintaining, and making adjustments and repairs to laboratory equipment such as supercritical CO2 extractor, ethanol extractor, vacuum ovens, rotary evaporators, stirred reactor, High Shear Homogenizers, and other laboratory equipment.
- Maintaining inventory records of supplies, materials, and equipment, and preparing requisitions as needed.
- Storing supplies and equipment, disposal of waste according to guidelines, and keeping laboratory, storerooms and working areas immaculate.
- Washing and sterilizing laboratory glassware.
- Performing clerical work related to laboratory activities such as word processing, record keeping, filing, and answering telephone inquiries.
- Maintaining material safety data sheets for all department chemicals and products.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a background check.
- The qualified individual must have 2 to 4 years of experience in an extraction lab setting. Cannabis extraction is highly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university, with a major in chemistry, engineering, or a related field.
- The qualified individual will possess a keen interest and knowledge of Organic chemistry, GMP manufacturing, Cannabis extraction, Food science, Process engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biochemistry, Drug manufacturing, etc.

Extraction Lab Manager
At Solstice, the Lab Manager is responsible for the management of the Solstice lab, which includes planning inventory, improving and executing extraction processes, scheduling and managing lab team, and coordinating with the management team to execute a comprehensive manufacturing plan.

Lab Manager Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Operation, training, and oversight of Ironfist Fabrication EX4-502 Extractor and the associated post-extraction equipment necessary per SOP’s product specifications
- Coordination with Inventory Manager and Operations Manager to ensure that materials and labor necessary for finished concentrate generation per manufacturing plan are in place
- Management of appropriate environmental conditions within lab and for all lab materials
- Execution of manufacturing plan to meet specific timelines on a daily, weekly, and monthly horizon
- Development of SOPs to continue to improve consistency and quality – ability to identify key variables from inventory to solvent to process that impact quality and yield
- Ensure accurate and timely inventory in all stages of production, and data collection to assist the Operations Manager in review and analysis
- Work with colleagues, Leads, Managers, and Directors to solicit ideas on how to update/improve processes to be incorporated into the Solstice Way
- Management of hard goods and soft goods inventory and work with the Purchasing Associate to ensure adequate supply line for execution of manufacturing plan
- Monitor and maintain work areas in accordance with relevant regulations and safety codes, compliance (WSLCB)
- Overseeing execution of strict maintenance and cleanliness schedule
- Maintain department ascetics and functionality
