Job Description – Compliance Manager
The Compliance Manager must be a motivated, detail-oriented individual who works well in a small-team setting and is eager to stay up-to-the-minute on New York cannabis regulations. The Compliance Manager will interact with all departments in the company to create an internal system of success for a strict regulatory-compliant production environment. The Compliance Manager will be the public face and voice of the company, interacting with state and local regulatory officials, licensed adult-use strategic partners, and the community, in general.
General Responsibilities
The Compliance Manager is primarily responsible for effective development and maintenance of regulatory operations, including New York Adult-Use Conditional Cultivator (AUCC), Adult-Use Conditional Processors (AUCP), and New York Hemp CBD Cultivation and Processing regulations. The Compliance Manager reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and will work with other on-site management personnel to drive the successful regulatory performance of the company. The Compliance Manager is encouraged to be active in the development of the regulatory framework of the New York cannabis industry.
The Compliance Manager must ensure regulatory compliance of personnel and location with federal, state, and local laws and guidelines.
- Knowledge of New York Hemp and Adult-Use Cannabis regulations, and Health Department requirements; previous hemp or cannabis industry experience preferred, with priority given to candidates with direct experience in regulated market.
- Aid in the development and submittal of critical documentation as required by regulatory agencies.

What You Will Do:

As Inventory and Compliance Manager, you are responsible for providing support, analysis, and recommendations to assist Store Management and ensure operational efficiency of the inventory and compliance processes.
You ensure compliance to all regulations governing the purchasing and selling of Cannabis and Non-Cannabis product and you will partner with the store’s General Manager to oversee all facets of policy and procedures and operational administrative duties in relation to inventory and compliance.
The successful candidate will have two or more years’ experience in retail management.
Sales & Profitability
o Ensures expense controls within the store are met with initiatives and strategies.
o Ensure Vendor/Distributor deliveries and Vendor/Distributor payment pickups are optimized for maximum effectiveness.
o Partner with Centralized Retail Buying Team to ensure all designated category products are in stock based on demand across markets.
o Maintain tracking of all invoices, deliveries, and payments for all products.
o Support utilization of centralized calendar of designated brand demos, trainings, and in-store events with peers to follow a cohesive monthly and quarterly calendar for the store team.
o Partner with Centralized Retail Buying Team to facilitate returns, credits, and exchanges of product with corresponding Vendors/Distributors.
Inventory
o Collaborate with General Manager, Delivery Manager and Store Leadership to enhance the store environment and efficiently execute all inventory and delivery tasks.
o Own all inventory and compliance tasks within the store in adherence to all METRC and BCC regulations.
o Collaborate with General Manager, Delivery Manager and Store Leadership to ensure fast and efficient flow of merchandise from the point of receiving to its various destinations (backstock, sales floor, delivery room, etc.).
o Ensure a neat, clean, and organized store environment.
o Exhibit extensive knowledge of logistics, safety protocols and regulations around Cannabis transportation and delivery.
o Manage daily distribution activity and ensure systems are updated to reflect current data and information.
o Plan proactively to mitigate any complications due to unexpected changes.
o Ownership of Inventory Report generation and distribution by 3pm PST every Monday.
Operations
o Support store goals by training Loss Prevention awareness and overseeing adherence to Loss Prevention practices.
o Conduct store audits on a regular basis and provide General Manager and peers with constructive feedback and obtainable goals.
o Lead the team in shipping and receiving process and complete shipment turnaround process.
o Ensure compliance with all BCC, State and City regulations.
o Consistently evaluate current inventory management processes to ensure they are streamlined and efficient. Communicate feedback directly to the General Manager, Retail Area Manager or VP of Retail.

Qualifications Include:
o Must be 21+ years old.
o Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 2- years’ experience as a Manager in a retail or business environment.

o B.A. preferred, but experience is paramount.
o Experience working in a highly regulated businesses is desirable.
o Uses sound judgment when making decisions.
o Assumes other duties assigned by supervisor.

About the Job:
The Business Administrator will support the executive and leadership teams in general administrative duties, compile, and input data prepare reports, coordinate departmental purchasing, pre-employment screening as well as various other business administrative duties as requested.
This role will also be responsible for various compliance administrative duties including, METRC, tracking, plant and product inventory audits and compliance audits.
Knowledge of the METRC experience in system required.

- Collaborates with Director of Security and Director of Production to identify risks, ensure compliance to OSHA regulations and ensure loss prevention methods comply with privacy and other applicable laws. This includes working w implement training and programs to ensure compliance.
- Works with Site Directors to develop and implement procedures for ensuring absolute legal compliance in all aspects of the company.
- Provides reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested to leadership regarding compliance programs (implementation and results). Reports any violation and/or potential risks to operations and legal in a timely manner
- Oversees any recall and/or health/public safety issues. This includes reporting to government agencies, developing communication to dispensaries and/or consumers, working with the management team to develop a corrective plan.
- Collaborates with third party public relations firm and/or legal for any media responses and communications.
- Evaluates participation in community events and other marketing efforts for risks. Also ensures marketing activities comply with federal and/or state regulations.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field and a minimum of five (5) years of legal experience in compliance, regulatory affairs and/or risk management.
- Experience in pharmaceutical or agriculture industries strongly preferred.
Additional Qualifications:
- Masters' degree or J.D. preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and develop solutions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Proficiency in using word processing software; spreadsheet software; and e-mail systems. Knowledge of the Internet and client relationship management software is also required. Must have knowledge of accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing software.
- Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, strong project management skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality; the ability to work independently and in a team environment; and knowledge of state and federal laws. Must have extensive knowledge of laws and legal issues related manufacturing and healthcare/drug companies.

We are looking for a Compliance Officer to ensure that our existing operations and business transactions follow all relevant legal and internal rules. You will supervise company compliance to support retail, cultivation, marketing and other relevant lines of business involving regulatory compliance. You will insure our compliance training is up to date and provided to all staff. You will also provide advice on compliance to team members. You will conduct regular on sight facility audits based on regulatory requirements; and ensure the monitoring and tracking of various compliance data. You are responsible for the compliance oversight of all employees ensuring that executives, management and employees are in compliance with the rules and regulations of regulatory agencies while also ensuring the all team members are working and adhere to all company guidelines. You must understand the complexity of compliance requirements governing our businesses, including the following types of regulatory agencies: Marijuana Enforcement Division, OSHA, Fire Department(s), City Zoning and Planning Department(s), Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and more. You will ensure compliance with all local, State, and Federal regulatory agencies including licenses, permits, and other authorizations related to compliance. To succeed in this role, you must have excellent communication skills and maintain professional relationships among all departments and various regulatory agencies. You should be familiar with risk management and our industry’s standards. Your goal will be to ensure we operate in a legal and ethical manner while meeting our business objectives.
