Dark Heart Nursery is recruiting for a Vice President of Sales who will be responsible for driving revenue, managing the sales cycle for the nursery and CPG products, and coaching and supporting the sales team. This role will be responsible for supporting our major accounts, our large-scale commercial growers, and maintaining long term contracts. The ideal candidate must have proven success in achieving sales targets by effectively negotiating deals, and mentoring and inspiring a team. The Vice President of Sales and Marketing will develop and direct our Sales & Marketing department from the ground up. OPPORTUNITY
Papa & Barkley is seeking a Vice President of Sales with the experience and enthusiasm to proactively lead and support the Sales Team in meeting and exceeding top line revenue goals across an expanding portfolio of products in the California dispensary market.
This position will actively engage with dispensaries and our 16-members sales team to cultivate and deepen retail partnerships, expand our market presence, and drive growth. As a senior member of the leadership team, the Vice President of Sales will also develop and execute on sales and account management strategy, oversee the commission plan and structure, aggregate and report on sales data and trend analysis, manage key accounts, and work collaboratively with other departments on cross-functional initiatives.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record as a sales leader in the cannabis industry, possess a driving passion for plant medicine and its advocacy, and engage a coaching approach to leading and managing a team of sales professionals.
The Vice President of Sales will be based in California and report to the Chief Operating Officer. Travel commitments have been sharply circumscribed because of the statewide stay-at-home order and retail capacity restrictions. Commensurate with the lifting of restrictions, travel for this position will increase up to a 20% commitment to accommodate sales calls and dispensary visits throughout the Greater Los Angeles area and key parts of Southern California and the North Coast.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute an account management strategy that effectively deploys resources and identifies and nurtures key accounts.
- Define success and measure performance by setting priorities, establishing KPI’s, and implementing a cadence of accountability that supports the Sales Team in achieving sales goals.

The VP of Sales and Marketing will be a senior member of the corporate executive team, responsible for the growth of the company’s cannabis product sales and strategy.
** To be considered, you must be a proven cannabis sales leader with multiple existing purchasing contacts within the cannabis industry, and have a superior track record as a Sales Director, VP of Sales or Chief Revenue Officer, looking to direct the expansion of an early stage, technologically superior cannabis products company.
The successful candidate will drive the company's achievement of customer acquisition and will lead the success in revenue goals, acting as a role model for company culture and an ambassador for recruiting talent. This position will be responsible for both the tactical and strategic leadership of the sales organization, working closely with the Executive Team on the business to plan and executing strategy.
We are seeking an experienced individual with a minimum of 3 years cannabis sales experience and 2 year cannabis sales manager experience to assist us to increase sales and address customer needs within the state of California and beyond. Territory Sales Manager responsibilities include overseeing our delivery couriers, placing our products on the shelves of cannabis dispensaries through the state, negotiating procurement from cannabis farms and manufacturers and identifying specific consumer characteristics and recommending ways to promote and sell our products. To be successful in this role, at minimum, you should posses an existing book of business throughout California and have excellent communication abilities and be highly motivated to meet sales goals.
Responsibilities:
- Experience creating and operating a CRM sales pipeline management system overseeing multiple sales representatives.
- Recent cannabis sales management experience, having successfully built, hired and led a geographically diverse team of early career and experienced professionals
- Must have experience with securing product placement in retail settings, as well as white label and contract manufacturing opportunities.
- Recent experience operating in an early stage company, with a demonstrated ability to wear multiple hats, respond to evolving demands and react to a constantly changing marketplace.
- Repetitive communication, verbal/electronic, with existing clientele base and identify new business clientele.
- 7-10+ years in sales and 3-5+ years in sales management role.
- A strong motivator and leader and ability to create a team that lives the company’s values.
- Financial literacy at a level adequate to speak to the business needs of the industry.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Develop and establish compensation, training, and sales incentive programs that enable sales staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives.
- Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting, and compile information and data related to customer and prospect interactions.
- Develop and direct the required field sales organization, and assist in developing effective marketing platforms such as social media and other online reputation sites to help drive referrals.
- Oversee the hiring and development of the sales organization, and responsible for the optimal deployment of sales personnel, including coverage models or team configurations in order to maximize sales productivity.
- Create relationships with traditional retail channels and secure clients in that space.
- Define optimal performance measurements and performance management programs required to ensure sales organization success, and align reporting, training, and incentive programs with these performance management priorities.
- Design, implement and manage sales forecasting, planning, and budgeting processes to establish high levels of quality, accuracy, and process consistency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
