The Chief Operating Offers of LuvBuds will be responsible for handling all vendor relationships, managing inventory, modeling needs, creating categories, managing inventory and supply chain, working with Vendors, warehouse and receiving departments to optimize efficiencies and to overlook total day to day operations of the company. We offer hundreds of products desired by our 10s of Thousands of customers throughout the country. This person will work closely with our operations staff and work under only our CEO to create the most outstanding selection of quality merchandise priced correctly anywhere in our industry. They will be responsible for customs, tariff management, freight and logistics eventually handing the product off to our receiving department, then to sales and marketing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Development of strong vendor relationships while managing our vast catalog of available products.
- Analyze production schedules and inventory levels to determine category needs, processing daily procurement requirements into purchase orders.
- Secure targeted levels of inventory, cost, quality, and delivery precision to support our customers’ needs and wants.
- Minimize working capital requirements while ensuring no out-of-stock issues.
- Work independently or collaboratively, as needed, with individuals throughout the organization to ensure company objectives are achieved.
- Conduct and follow up on Purchase Price Variance (PPV) activities
- Do competitive analysis assuring we are best priced and ultra-competitive with our competitors. Negotiating with factories assuring LuvBuds has the best cost.
- Handle credits and QA issues with factories assuring we receive all goods ordered as ordered and if not, proper credits are received.
- Resolve supplier issues that arise in relation to delivery dates, quality, specifications, quantity, or cost of purchased goods or services in a timely fashion.
- Work with operations to assure slots are available in warehouse and proper inventory levels are created assuring Just in time replacements to the best of their ability.
- Act quickly to find and implement solutions to any supply issues across the vertically integrated supply chain.
- Possess and maintain a strong working knowledge of ERP systems (Microsoft NAV preferred)
- Complete and total control of inventory from the time it is ordered through shipment.
- All other tasks and job duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business administration, or a related field preferred
- Previous buying and operational management experience, preferably done with Microsoft Dynamics.
Training
- Must spend up to 90 days with company exec team, understand the culture, attain full product knowledge, submerse themselves into our current products and vendors and begin cataloging all available product and pricing available worldwide.
Skills & Experience
- Experience with ERP systems, Microsoft Dynamics NAV preferred
- Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of processing, data, and statistical software.

Company Overview
SMP Cannabis (“the Company”) is currently seeking a COO and/or Master Cultivator to become its second key leader, reporting to the CEO, of its management team located in St. Louis, MO; a brand-new medical market just launched in October 2020. SMP will operate cultivation and manufacturing licenses in MO and is planning further local and domestic expansion. Position Summary/Objective
The Chief Operations Officer (COO) and/or Master Cultivator will immediately partner and contribute to the design of new indoor construction of up to 30,000 sq ft of flowering canopy and a manufacturing facility. The COO will collaborate with SMP’s partners, architects, and general contractors to complete its buildout and immediately begin operations. This is an executive position, but more importantly, this is a get-your-hands-dirty position where no task is too small if it needs to get completed. We expect our leadership to have a positive, problem-solving attitude who focuses on driving the success of the operation at the direct benefit of the patients of Missouri, our employees, and our investors. Accordingly, we are seeking a passionate, driven, long-hour, detailed oriented and collaborative COO to provide strategic leadership, direction, and support to the SMP’s operations. Our principals and management are hard workers who have significant experience investing and managing businesses in cannabis, startups, construction, real estate, and regulated markets.
The COO will focus on developing and implementing goals and long-term strategies as well as guide the Company’s operational strategy, overseeing the day-to-day operations with a high bar and vision for excellence. The ideal candidate has the ability to adapt to our business model and has demonstrated leadership experience, as he or she will be given significant responsibility over the operations of our business and to deliver a best-in-class and innovative cannabis experience. Previous cannabis experience is preferred but not required; however, all candidates should have some familiarity and comfort with cannabis.
Responsibilities
· Collaborate, partner, and facilitate the design of a brand-new construction of up to 30,000 sq ft of flowering canopy and manufacturing facility, working alongside the CEO, partners, and general contractors
· Compose and implement robust Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in areas of cultivation, manufacturing, operations, security, compliance, and HR.
· Interview, hire, and build a team of 50-70 hires to set the trajectory of the success of the Company
· Develop and execute the operations strategy in areas of cultivation, manufacturing and, resulting in a best-in-class products and services, while establishing current and long-range objectives, plans, policies, goals, with executives, staff, and Board members
· Develop and cascade SMP’s organization strategy, mission, and vision throughout Company and to all staff; implement appropriate processes and practices to align personnel with Company goals
· Drive performance measures for the operation across the Company; regularly communicate Company strategy and changes while overseeing the proper execution of established operation procedures
· Oversee the operations of grower and processor and related business services, and advise operational teams on development of strategies, supplier and sourcing relationships, logistics, and other function areas, on all mutual issues and in prioritization of needs
· Collaborate with compliance leader on quality and service standards, quality assurance processes, and compliance on all policies, standards, and values
· Implement strategies for optimal productivity in enterprise operations through operational excellence, process improvement, and consistent resolution of challenges, with attention to quality, staffing, inventory management, and financial control
· Establish process for labor optimization in operations while effectively managing overall variance to payroll budget
· Oversee all aspects of operations with an excellence in quality and customer-first mentality and an intense focus on Company culture and ethics, products, customer service, growth, and brand standards
· Continually assess with technology leader the tech roadmap and implementation and adjust based on customer and business needs
· Manage financial and business planning activities including oversight adherence to business policies, financial budgeting and reporting policies
· Assess business trends and actively support team to drive growth and business initiatives
· Impact key performance metrics through effective leadership, and provide guidance to achieve goals and profitability targets

Qualifications
Education:
· Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required. MBA strongly preferred.
Work Experience:
· 10+ years of consumer products and/or health and wellness, retail, with operational experience
· 10+ years of management experience which must include operations, profit and loss, and customer-facing strategies in a fast-paced, complex, and/or regulated environment
· 2-5 years working in cannabis cultivation, operations, and logistics
· Considerable exposure to retail cultures focused on well-developed standard operating procedures and management and employee training programs
· Ability to understand competitive landscape and trends and execute strategies accordingly

The Chief Operating Officer will contribute to the vision of Smoakland by supporting the Chief Executive Officer, leading and collaborating with Managers and the team. Smoakland is a fast-paced, growing company comprised of "working" leaders willing to pitch in to do whatever is necessary to meet the desired outcomes. The COO's oversight is expected to streamline activities and heighten support the CEO’s intention of growing the business.
Onsite: 100% - no remote work possible. Must be available to work more than 50 hours a week and open to working weekends.
The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for:
- Ability to grow and enhance the business through operational processes, employee and staff capabilities, and financial performance
- Analyzes current and future trends and needs and accurately assesses functional responsibilities, competitive strengths and vulnerabilities.
- Design and implement business strategies, plans and procedures
- Builds and maintains a departmental structure, operating standards and practices that are responsive and adaptable to evolving business needs
- Co-directs the functions of budgeting, accounting, and reporting, financial counseling of leadership team to appraise operating results in terms of costs, budget, operating policies, trends and increased profit opportunities. Analyze revenue, profit and cash flow opportunities for the business and recommend actions
- Ability to anticipate the implications and consequences of situations and take appropriate action
- Hold staff rigorously accountable for achieving their objectives
- Evaluate organizational performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
- Assess inquiries directed to the CEO, determine the proper course of action and delegate to the appropriate individual to manage
- Oversee daily operations of the organization and the work of employees
- Lead employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication
Requirements:
- BS/BA in Business Administration or relevant field; MS/MBA is preferred
- 5+ years of proven experience as Chief Operating Officer or relevant role
- Proven track record of strategic planning and driving revenue
- Experience overseeing daily operations of a business
- Experience creating and refining processes for a high-growth company
- Strong skills in planning, organizing, directing and coordinating a wide variety of activities; developing and implementing,
- Excellent written and verbal communicating skills, fiscal management policies, analyzing data, making sound recommendations and adopting effective causes of action
- Working persuasively and tactfully with supervisors and employees
- Understanding of business functions such as HR, Finance, Marketing, Sales, etc.
- Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
- Experience building teams and hiring/firing

- Experience within the cannabis industry and/or trade associations strongly preferred

Purpose of the COO within COVA:
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be contributing to the overall strategy of COVA’s Operations while ensuring the execution of the strategy. We need this person to put processes in so that COVA is prepared and able to properly scale up.
Core Accountabilities:
1) Strategic planning and execution
- This person will assist with the development of the company strategy by working with the Senior Leadership team to ensure we have a comprehensive plan to achieve corporate goals.
- Working with the Senior Leadership Team, the COO will develop key metrics to assess performance.
- The COO will identify processes that need to be introduced or improved to properly scale the business through rapid growth.
2) Financial management
- Working closely with the CFO and his team, the COO will ensure that we are maximizing revenue generating activities and prudently managing expenses in a rapidly growing business.
- Will also assist with the forecasting function of the business and financial modelling to ensure we are maximizing opportunities for the company (e.g., assessing and optimizing resources the number of salespeople employed at Cova based on the market size and growth rate, revenue producing initiatives and programs).
- The COO will define and implement analytics tools to improve data-driven decision making.
3) Program Oversight
- Cova has an extensive list of initiatives that will either improve operations or grow revenue. These initiatives require executive oversight to ensure the each area of the company understands the scope, timeline and costs associated with these initiatives to ensure successful implementation.
- Cova is currently a subsidiary that relies on support functions of a parent company. In the near future, Cova will be assuming more of these functions in-house. The COO role will oversee the transition of these functions into Cova.
4) People and Culture
- The COO role will assume a primary responsibility in nurturing the culture of the business. The stewardship of the culture will be done jointly with the senior leadership group and Cova employees in general.
Experience We Want to See:
- C-level experience; specifically, within a rapidly growing SaaS based company.
- Someone who leaves and breaths SaaS and how to scale up business operations.
- Experience building and managing various operational area’s (e.g. customer support, billing, account management, training, accounting, facilities, etc.).
- A proven ability to lead teams and manage cross functional groups with an inclusive and supportive leadership style.
- Strong financial management skills.
- Experience in the Cannabis industry is a bonus.
Requirements:
- Valid Passport with frequent travel between the US and Canada.
- Role will be based on either Denver (Colorado) OR Vancouver (British Columbia).

- Executes processes and key performance indicators to measure effectiveness and drive cost efficiencies.
- Designs and implements business strategies, plans and procedures that promote collaboration and a positive culture and vision for the organization.
- Provides strategic input to evaluate potential alliances, acquisitions and mergers, and new lines of service.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience overseeing 10+ retail locations
- MBA preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field required plus 10+ years of management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess strong business management, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to operate on an Executive level as part of a high functioning, results-oriented team.
- Requires extensive proven experience in establishing both long and short- term goals, developing comprehensive business plans to achieve those goals and executing on the business plans. Requires a proven record of exceeding expectations, regarding both financial and non-financial metrics.
