JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Chief Operating Officer
DEPARTMENT: Executive Management
REPORTS TO: CEO
SUPERVISES: All Departments
SALARY: $90,000-$145,000 DOE
COMPANY SUMMARY: We are dedicated to providing a memorable customer experience and affordable high-quality cannabis products and services, in a safe, secure and professionally managed environment. We’re recruiting a Chief Operating Officer to join our team and to provide leadership and direction to a number of stores through effective oversight of activities that promote and enhance the organization's operational efficiencies and drive long term profitability.
*COO SUMMARY: The COO will manage and maintain control of diverse business operations; including cultivation, production, and retail. We’re looking for an experienced and efficient leader who will be responsible for the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of initiatives relative to the strategic direction of the organization. As well as, someone with excellent people skills, who values the importance of creating a culture where employees excel and feel valued.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide day-to-day leadership, oversight, management, and vision to our entire organization.
- Responsible for driving our company to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow, and business goals and objectives.
- Lead the store workforce management team to drive efficiencies in store scheduling, payroll forecasting, reporting and administration of incentive programs.
- Partner with the accounting department to analyze store incentive programs to recommend changes that will drive top-line growth and/or expense savings and develop and implement department budgets.
- Primary liaison between the executive management team and store leaders to ensure that all information is communicated in a timely, consistent and brand-appropriate manner.
- If necessary; attract, recruit and retain required management team and store leaders not currently in place.
- Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all processes in all departments: Collaborate with the Executive Team and Department Heads to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of our organization.
- Allocate the resources Department Heads need, such as funds, labor, and equipment, to ensure they meet their goals.
- Conduct regular meetings with Department Heads to remain up to date on the status of each area of the company.
- Remains up to date on cannabis legislation.
- Builds a solid network in the cannabis industry through attending networking events and educational events.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- 5-10 years proven COO experience managing teams of employees in a highly regulated industry.
- Experience as a COO in a company, which experienced rapid growth during:
Example: Oversaw a company grow from 50 employees to 250 within three years
- Must have experience hiring and laying off employees.
- Experience managing operations, which deal with cultivation, manufacturing, and retail.
- Ability to think strategically and develop achievable long term goals.
- Strong organizational, project management and time management skills to successfully implement strategic initiatives from initial idea through execution.
- Strong personnel management and retail operations knowledge, including inventory control, loss prevention, retail systems, merchandising, customer service and store budget preparation
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and presentation skills; including the ability to provide written and verbal direction effectively
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and prioritize workload to manage multiple projects with strict deadlines
- Ability to think strategically and develop achievable long term goals
- Able to pass a background check.
