The Director of Operations for Cannabis processing will lead development and implementation of overall operations and business practices. WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Support all post-harvest processes (including drying, trimming, and curing) across all cultivation facilities owned and operated by Jushi. Includes 85% travel.
- Create, improve, implement, and ensure quality standards and procedures for all processing operations
- Analyze existing workflows and assist in the design to transform effectively meeting or exceeding operational expectations
- Develop & update process documentation, work instructions and other tools to support execution
- Develop innovative, timely, and cost-effective production line concepts that align with timelines, company goals, and improve upon existing operations.
- Continually research and engage manufacturers in order to provide processing operations with cutting-edge automated technology and innovative processes
- Implement automation in all processing operations in order to increase efficiency, decrease costs, and effectively meet production goals and quality standards
- Provide coaching and direction concerning operational and personnel issues in the processing department
- Ensure product quality from each specific facility; making sure it is maintained while processed, cured, and packaged
- Support local operations in monitoring employee progress; coaching, training, and developing employees in the accomplishment of their duties and goals through personal and professional growth
- Create, implement, and continually review systems for operational efficiency, noting problems and/or redundancies and recommending solutions to better streamline operational efficiency and quality
- Create and manage approved budgets in relation to processing and automation across all facilities
- Assist with data analysis, conclusions and presentations related to current and future operations
- Support regulatory compliance activities including authoring and review of study reports, and SOPs
- Support National Team as necessary in relation to all merger and acquisitions from assessment to implementation
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Bachelor’s degree in Management, Engineering or any related field required; MBA preferred
- 5+ years of management experience in field-based project management for a company with multi-site presence
- Willingness to travel up to 85%.
- Strong knowledge and experience of post-harvest processing of agricultural/plant material on a commercial scale
- Business acumen with broad understanding of the business model, science, facilities, engineering, process development, supply chain, quality, compliance, regulatory, and information technology expectations for cell therapy.
- Background in manufacturing strongly preferred
- Experience in strategic planning, risk management, and change management
- Strong problem solving, synthesizing, and analytical skills
- Ability to create detailed project plans and high-level milestones across cross functional teams to ensure projects are on track

About This Role:
The Brand Lab is seeking an exceptional Processing Director to lead the vision, strategy and execution of production goals. This is a highly impactful role that works closely with all members of the Executive Team and works across all facets of the manufacturing facility.
Processing Director
The Processing Director facilitates and supervises the process of commercial concentrate production. The Processing Director is required to critically assess biomass, actuate respective production goals and develop and oversee each stage of the process to materialize these goals. The Director is responsible for gathering critical data to evaluate each process and present weekly productivity reports to Executives. The Director is required to maintain compliance with state guidelines and manage operations in accordance with company standards to meet production goals. This position is responsible for the development of standard operating procedures for each machine and station, and integrating proprietary processing techniques to maintain a competitive advantage amongst cannabis processors around the world. The process director is responsible for providing a clear plan of action for employees to reach established goals set forth by management to attain department bonus potential. The ideal Processing Director will have experience in process chemistry design, process related research and development, laboratory equipment troubleshooting, analytical chemistry, laboratory design, understand terpene and cannabinoid properties and behavior, fluence, preservation techniques and separation chemistry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert recommendations on specific marijuana product formulations to meet the needs of patients and strategic approaches set forth by the executive team.
- Oversee daily laboratory activities for extraction and processing of cannabis products.

Duties & Responsibilities

ROLE:
The Director Cultivation will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling and coordinating the activities of Cultivation and Post-Harvest team members, in accordance with all occupational safety and health standards established by OSHA, as well as all state, federal, and local regulations. The Director of Cultivation will oversee all daily operations for the various facets of a large-scale grow operation. This position will be instrumental in creating and defining how the grow operations will seamlessly and efficiently run in regard to seed, harvesting, cultivation and extraction.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
- Responsible for the day-to-day duties of planning, organizing, directing, controlling and coordinating all activities for team members.
- Manage all aspects of production, including: forecasted costs, control production schedules, production budgets, material resources, staffing resources, process improvement and reporting.
- Responsible for ensuring best practices in regard to pest control, fertilizers, crop monitoring, propagation and more.

OVERVIEW
The Processing Director commands efforts in production and logistics management within a processing facility. JOB DESCRIPTION
Director of Processing, Full-Time, Hagerstown, Maryland
Purpose
The Director of Processing is responsible to oversee the entire extraction, post extraction processing and edibles manufacturing operation at Kind
Therapeutics. This individual is accountable for successful extraction oversight including hydrocarbon, CO2, Ice Water, Heat/Pressure, Ethanol and distillation. Post extraction processing to include operating vac ovens, vape cartridge filling and edible production. The Director of Processing will be required to manage a departmental budget, achieve KPI’s and lead the processing team. New product development is expected, with a focus on developing and launching new concentrate and edible SKUs. The Director of Processing provides supervision of all personnel in the department, maintains appropriate staff to hit KPIs, and is responsible for developing a multi shift department. METRC administration, employee training on machine operations, understanding of best manufacturing practices along with people and process management skills are required.
Critical Duties and Responsibilities
- Improve and oversee all Processing Departments (Extractions, Post
Extraction Processing and Kitchen).
- Accountable for all MMCC compliance requirements and METRC administration.
- Ensuring all staff has received proper training, coaching and oversight for successful machine operations.
- Supervises personnel and holds staff accountable to production schedules, SOPs, employee handbook and MMCC regulations.
- Assisting with disciplinary actions when assistance is required by the direct management of the Processing Departmental teams.
- Actively engaged in process improvement that includes creating and revising existing SOPs, production log documentation and flowchart creation.
- Works with the HR department to effectively manage employees, including recruiting and directing staff, disciplinary actions, managing personnel to achieve production schedule, engaging quarterly staff reviews and resolving any employee issues.
- Ensures that QC/QA processes are instituted and followed for consistent concentrate products.
- Works closely with COO to create and implement quarterly and annual
Lab plans and budgets.
- Research and develop concentrates and edibles SKUs to increase brand recognition and market penetration. Has an awareness of current product trends in other markets to ensure the company’s products are considered premium. Works with consultants and engages as Project
Manager to oversee projects to develop new concentrate and edible products.
- Works with the Director of Production on packaging requirements for the company’s weekly product needs.
- Handles other duties as directed by COO.
Systems
- Proficient in METRC, Leaflogix, Leaflink, G Suite, and Slack on a daily basis. Systems are subject to change, must be competent in computer systems.
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of cannabis extraction experience in a commercial licensed facility that includes hydrocarbon, CO2, ethanol and distillation.
- A minimum of 5 years of management experience leading a large team of employees and manages a team in accordance with State compliance regulations, Company policies/SOPs and best manufacturing practices.
- Expand the lab into 7 days per week with multiple shifts per day.
Accomplishes and executes on planning to achieve operating capacity at the lab.
- Manage the department to the business plan and budget, communicate issues in advance and is a solutions oriented manager.
- Production scheduling and develops a team to accomplish goals and
KPIs.
- Build departmental budgets, works with Accounting to maintain supplies and Facilities to keep machines online.
- Works with a sense of urgency while maintaining professionalism in the workplace.
- Communicate with the personnel, management, and the MMCC, solid written and verbal communication abilities, provide presentations as needed.
- Understands the importance of the cannabis culture and end user needs.
- Pass MMCC Processor agent badge and employment requirements.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- BA/BS degree in business, chemistry or other similar programs preferred.
- Extensive work experience in similar operations can waive degree requirements depending on experience.

The Manager/Director of Extraction is responsible for leading and maintaining extraction and processing for cannabis-derived products. This position involves leading and implementing production-scale extraction processes. The main processes to be developed and/or optimized are distillation, crystallization and chromatographic purification of cannabinoids.
