General Job Description
The Cultivation Manger is a hands-on position responsible for the oversite and management of all Cultivation Technicians and the day-to-day cultivation tasks. Manager is to ensure the structure and health of each plant is consistent with Company’s standards on a commercial scale and that compliance and cleanliness is a top priority at all times.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Cultivation Manager is responsible for all grow room areas
- Manager is to ensure cultivation facility is safe and in compliance at all times
- Manager is to ensure cleanliness and organization of cultivation facility at all times
- Manager is to ensure the cultivation facility is kept free of pests, dust, dirt, viruses, or other microbials by preventing contamination through proper cleaning, Personal
Protection Equipment (PPE), and biological controls established within the cultivationSOPs
- Perform routine sanitation of tools, equipment, and production areas in accordance with Company’s sanitary practices
- Work directly with the Director of Cultivation to develop systems, processes, and producers (SOPs) for the following: mother plant maintenance, cloning, transplanting, pest management routines, fertilizer recipes, pruning, and light schedules
- Implement all cultivation schedules, policies, and procedures (SOPs) according to company’s standards – including propagation, plant care, IPM, health and safety operations, harvest, and post-harvest
- Responsible for overseeing and managing all cultivation technicians and tasks to ensure that all systems, processes, procedures, policies, and schedules are followed and production standards/goals are met.
- Provide effective leadership to ensure team members understand and are aligned with the Company’s vision, values, and culture
- Work directly with the Director of Cultivation to ensure the rotation of strains through the garden align with the Company’s supply and demand requirements
- Work directly with Director of Cultivation on research and development (R&D) for continual refinement to yield, quality, systems, processes, and workflow
- Prepare and analyze cultivation operations data to discuss with cultivation team and for future improvements
- Maintain, observe, and appropriate environmental controls/parameters
- Immediately address any “red-flags” with equipment or unsafe environments/working conditions to the Director of Cultivation
- Certify accuracy of plant inventory; including strain names, plant tag numbers, and plant counts
- Perform plant and canopy maintenance such as cleaning up bottoms, defoliating leaves, training branches, transplanting, feedings, irrigation events, and Integrated Pest
Management (IPM) according to a set schedule and SOP – as determined by theCultivation Director
- Apply fungicide and insecticide in a safe and effective manner, wearing appropriate PPE
& after ample training and instruction
- Work directly with Cultivation Techs to ensure the structure and health of each seedlings, vegetative, and flowering plants - through observation & adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on a commercial scale
- Inspect plants for signs of deficiency or infestation in accordance with Company’s SOPs
- Immediately address any “red flags” to the Director of Cultivation, which may include suspected deficiencies, toxicities, or pests.
- Check and record accurate data daily, including but not limited to: IPM applications, issues found when scouting plants, runoff, leaf-temp, and any other items required by
Company
- Work in a timely manner and strive to increase productivity through coordinated workflow, efficient systems, and processes
- Labeling and tacking plants using METRC tags
- Assist Director of Cultivation with inspections – whether initiated internally, or through a governing entity using inventory and compliance audits
- Abide by high personal hygiene standards
Education - Knowledge & Experience
- Experience with a startup company
- Experience with developing/adhering to SOPs for implementation in new and existing cultivation facilities
- Three years of responsible leadership experience in management or supervisory positions
- Understand how to manage production workflow
- Experience in running climate control systems or building management systems (BMS)
- Degree in Botany, Biology, Agriculture, Horticulture is preferred

General Job Description
WPL has an immediate opening for a highly industrious and proactive individual to become our Director of Operations for processing and production at our cultivation facility in Adrian, Michigan. Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Operations is responsible for developing and executing strategies that support production and operational processes, staffing plans, compliance procedures, and team member management. In addition, this individual will understand the business metrics, execute efficiently, be flexible and driven, and lead a large team of talented, diligent and effective personnel to ensure that business and operational standards are consistently met.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for all post-harvest activities including, but not limited to trimming, curing, quality control, packaging, product transfer facilitation, testing, waste processing/reporting and inventory control.
- Assess current SOPs, identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions through scaling processes, systems, and people.
- Motivate and lead a high-performance operations team; attracting, recruiting, training, and retaining value added team members.
- Assure daily compliance with company policies including but not limited to: state/local regulation compliance, security protocols, access protocols, facility maintenance, and work schedules
- Develop and lead the Compliance Team to monitor and maintain proper inventory processes, controls, and audits using METRC and ensuring full compliance with all state regulations related to inventory and plant/product tracking and inventory.
- Effectively manage and maintain relevant facility records according to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Work closely with the Director of Cultivation and the Management Team to assure that production, processing and scheduling plans align with the cultivation and product forecast.
- Maintain a strong presence in the facility to effectively coach and support operations teams and cross function communications.
- Set and analyze performance expectations and production goals for the department, including output levels, recordkeeping, and quality control.
- Create work schedules and flow for both weekday and weekend work allowing for adequate coverage for regular and holiday schedules
- Oversee the maintenance and facilities objectives, upholding the highest levels of cleanliness, sterilization, and overall sanitation of the facility’s functional areas.
- Create/implement/maintain post-harvest best practices and compliant/effective standard operating procedures.
- Oversee processing, packaging, testing, inventory, and distribution resources for the site location with continuous improvement and quality reporting as well.
- Perform in-process and post-process quality assurance testing and conduct visual inspections to ensure the product meets or exceeds set quality standards.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the Marijuana Regulatory Agency (MRA),
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA,) Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA,) and Worker Protection Standards (WPS).
Qualifications
- A high-touch, credible, visible leader who could establish instant credibility and inspire the team.
- 2+ years’ experience in operations management and inventory control. Cannabis operations experience is a plus but not required.
- Demonstrated track record in team building and driving operational efficiencies in a light manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable and confident in making decisions and mediating conflict within a team environment.
- Ability to address complex issues and allocate time to execute multiple tasks and changing priorities.
- Ability to identify top talent and train/develop/retain great people.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating a cannabis operation facility.
