Full Job Description
- Manage team using ethanol extraction, ethanol recovery, butane extraction, filtration, decarboxylation, degas, post processing and distillation equipment.
- Drive scaling of all process operations and labor to support forecasted demand planning and on time delivery of formulated oil.
- Drive process innovation and improvements to reduce operational costs, and improve reliability, performance, and quality.
- Participate in new product development processes and manage associated extraction and secondary processing R&D projects.
- Identify, define, and validate disruptive technical developments and file for associated patents.
- Capture critical and key process data to effectively track yields, machine uptime, through-put, labor utilization, etc., and create visible KPIs.
- Ensure all products have compliant identification labels and are traceable in the ERP system and METRC.
- Manage and optimize timing of batches, ensure proper staging and stock of raw materials and consumables.
- Conduct post extraction processing steps, laboratory testing analysis and assist in company product formulations.
- Create, update, and manage department SOPs for current and future processes, and manage strict adherence to SOPs.
- Schedule and track production equipment preventative maintenance, spares, and calibrations.
- Implement and monitor calibrations on production and lab equipment by establishing and ensuring consistent standards of use.
- Responsible for the management, coaching, counseling of direct reporting personal, and conducting regular performance reviews.
- Facilitate testing with external lab(s), and review/make decisions based on results.
- Review and approve requested materials, equipment, and chemicals for production areas.
- Understand current Cannabis Regulations and work with the Director of QA/QC and Director of Compliance to support internal and external audits.
- Assist with product recall or complaint investigations when necessary
Requirements:
- Expert understanding of cannabis extraction and manufacturing
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating facilities
- Financial budget planning, analysis, and reporting skills
- Ability to write business reports and undertake presentations
- Ability to collaborate and work as a team in a matrix organization
- Strategic planner and a proactive problem solver
- Operates with a bias for action and a sense of urgency
- Strong decision making and judgement skills
- Advanced analytical and modelling skills
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job
- OSHA training is preferred to support a safe working environment
- Post-secondary education preferred
- Highly functional on PC or Apple computer.
- Google Apps: Proficiency with Google Docs, Sheets, Drive, and security and sharing knowledge. Microsoft Office: Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint 2010 or newer.
