The Role
We are seeking a dynamic, proven leader to join our senior management team as Chief Financial Officer. As CFO, you will run Fine Fettle’s financial department and work as part of the Executive team to plan, project, and assess future capital needs and financial impact. This position will report directly to the CEO.
The Work You’ll Do:
- Oversee all financial operations for the company, including accounting, financial planning and analysis, tax, treasury, and investor relations
- Manage and contribute to capital planning and evaluations processes; provide advice, insights and recommendations for appropriate capital structure
- Manage/Implement budgeting processes for all departments and ensure the continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting department budgets

Great Lakes Kush, a caregiver owned start up cannabis company in Lansing, MI is currently looking for a CFO. GLK or Great Lakes Kush is looking for someone with at least 5 years of experience in accounting and the understanding of cannabis tax regulations. A CPA is preferred but we will consider applicants who do not have this if they have adequate experience or currently pursuing their CPA or CFA.

We are a holding company controlling a variety of cannabis subsidiaries and other assets, including product, brand, real estate, and culvation asset. We are located in the city of Arcata in Humboldt County, the cradle of the cannabis industry in the United States. Our approach to the industry is one of aggressive growth through M&A.
We are looking for an experienced CFO. Interested candidates should have 10+ years of Finance and Accounting experience, including M&A experience. We prefer candidates with portfolio management, capital raises, investor management, and manufacturing and sales environment experience.
We are flexible on the work location as long as the candidate is located in California and can pass a Livescan background check.
Position Overview
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO)is a key member of the senior management team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. The CFO:
- works collaboratively with the Executive Team to identify opportunities to increase the value of the company through partnership, investment, mergers and acquisitions; and
- contributes to the company’s yearly and long term business planning process, conducts analysis, and provides strategic financial advice on the overall direction of the Company and each individual project;
Strategy, Planning and Management
- Develop finance organizational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction and establishes functional objectives in line with organizational objectives
- Assess and evaluate financial performance of organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts. Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plan of organization.
- Identify, acquire and implement systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information.Evaluate departments and make suggestions for automating processes and increasing working efficiency.
- Increases job knowledge and skills by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations
Financial Analysis, Budgeting and Forecasting
- Establish finance operational strategies by evaluating trends, establishing critical measurements, determining production, productivity, quality and customer service strategies, designing systems, accumulating resources, resolving problems, and implementing change
- Develop organization prospects by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities, projecting acquisition and expansion prospects, analyzing organization operations, and identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction and systems enhancement
- Develop financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities and staff requirements, identifying monetary resources, and developing action plans
- Develop and maintain monthly operating budget and annual company operating budget.
Accounting, General Ledger, Administration and Operations
- Supervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases and financial software. Provide regular maintenance and backup of all accounting systems and supervise company financial staff.
- Oversee the preparation and communication of weekly, monthly and annual financial statements.
- Oversee the month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies.
- Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems
Financial Management
- Reports financial status by developing forecasts, reporting results, analyzing variances and developing improvements
- Explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks.
- Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization's plans and operating budgets.
Financial Relations and Policies
- Engage finance committee and/or board of directors to develop short term and long term plans, projections and budgets.
- Represent company to banks, financial partners, institutions, investors, public auditors and officials.
- Remain current on audit best practices as well as state, federal and local laws regarding company operations.

This position is for a start-up cannabis company. The CFO position will begin as an advisory role for Q1 of 2021 with minimal and flexible work hours. Upon financing, by end of Q1, beginning of Q2 of 2021, the agreed upon salary will begin getting paid out. Along with the negotiated salary, there is also the possibility of negotiating sweat equity.
We are looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer or CFO to perform effective risk management and plan the organization’s financial strategy. It is a very important and complex role since an organization can only survive if it actively investigates and safeguards its finances. A CFO must be well-versed in all aspects of financial management ranging from simple accounting to broad investment and banking operations. The ideal candidate will be an excellent leader since all relative departments of the organization will be under their command. The goal is to protect the company’s revenues and profits to achieve full financial control and sustainable growth.
