As a key member of Senior Leadership, the Chief Financial Officer will report to the Chief Financial Officer and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, job costing, legal, property management, deal analysis and negotiations, investor relationships and partnership compliance and private and institutional financing.
Essential Duties
Executive
- Establish an effective working relationship with the Board and its associated committees.
- Notify the Board of Directors of all actual or potential irregularities, non-compliance, or other problems related to the financial operations, financial systems, corporate processes, or any other matter which may have a financial impact on the company.
- Speak on behalf of the company externally to government regulators, financial markets, funding institutions, media, and the general public.
Strategy and Planning
- Contribute to the strategic and business planning process, including providing recommendations to the senior management team on short-term and long-term financing and operating strategy for the organization.
- Prepare and present forecasts for future business growth, general economic, industry and financial conditions and report on their impact on company policies and operations.
- Analyze company operations, identifying areas that can be reorganized, down-sized or made more cost-effective.
- Identify and leverage key strategic issues and opportunities as they arise.
- Develop innovative and effective financing strategies to support acquisitions, expansions and other capital requirements.
- Initiate other activities, whether financial or not, which contribute to the financial health, growth, regulatory compliance and overall fulfillment of the corporate mandate.
Financial Accounting
- Be responsible for the preparation and issuance of all corporate reporting requirements including, but not limited to: Quarterly and Annual Reports and other regulatory disclosure requirements.
- Ensure the financial statements accurately represent the financial position of the company and its operations.
- Manage the budgeting, forecasting and long term financial planning process.
- Review the accounting and financial reporting systems and address required improvements.
- Be responsible for the financial audit and control processes necessary to monitor the performance of the company against established budget and risk targets.
- Manage all activities of suppliers of financial services to the company including, but not limited to: accountants, auditors, underwriters, brokers, etc.
Finance and Treasury
- Provide support in the development of all regulatory filing documents and other equity or debt offering documents.
- Develop and maintain financial models for risk management purposes.
- Review pro-forma financial and cash flow forecasts.
- Establish, execute and report on the company investment strategy.
- Manage the tax, risk management, and compliance areas. Determine best approach for building in-house expertise vs. managing outside service providers.
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the Company (i.e., growth, new markets, evaluation of potential alliances, M&A, and investments).
- Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/ strategies and regulatory interactions.
- Develop reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash thresholds to meet operating needs of the Company and the most effective movement of money across the organization.
- Initiate appropriate strategies to enhance the Company's cash position on a broad overall basis and manage cash flow investment risk, currency risk, and yields.
Experience/Requirements
- Ideally experienced in both private and public sectors (with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance).
- Strong financial understanding and analytical skills
- Strong knowledge of current GAAP principles.
- Experience managing staff and developing talent to ensure efficiency of the team.
- Prior M&A planning and execution.

Education/Training
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or similar quantitative field of study.
- MBA or CPA preferred; at least 7 years' experience in financial planning and analysis or corporate finance in a leadership capacity.
