Entry Level Gardener September 2022
Dank Bros LLC is a Tier II indoor cannabis grow company in Milwaukie, Oregon. Qualifications and Qualities Required The entry level gardener is an hourly wage position available to candidates age-21 and older and holding, or eligible to receive, an Oregon cannabis handler’s card. The functions of this position require the incumbent to work approximately 70 hours every two-week pay period. Regular business hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Garden team members are required to participate in occasional early morning and evening shifts, and an occasional weekend shift. The entry level incumbent must be a mature individual who can carry through on assigned tasks in a timely manner without continuous supervision. He/she will be supervised by the Floor Manager and the General Manager. He/she will have the willingness and ability to learn about and participate in the Dank Bros grow program. This position has potential for wage increases and promotion for an incumbent who proves their value as a conscientious individual and contributor dedicated to the company mission.

- Serve as a garden team member on assigned tasks and duties consistent with planned production schedules and team project completion schedules.
- Carry out specific techniques for cannabis plant handling and treatment including big leafing, water emitter placement, line flushing and replacement, plant health protection, and general disease containment protocols.

The incumbent is not required to have a valid driver license but must be able to access transportation that meets on-time arrival and departure expectations at the grow facility. Cannabis, alcohol, and other mood- and motor skill-altering drugs may not be consumed before or during the workday. Observably impaired behavior or outward symptoms of drug and alcohol use may be grounds for immediate dismissal by any manager to protect the health, mental welfare, and safety of every Dank Bros employee.
Proof of an approved Covid-19 vaccination is required for employment. We follow State of Oregon mask mandate advice; masks must be worn at all times. Covid-19 and variant transmission alert protocols are being used to protect employee health. Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:
In this role your primary duty will be to oversee cannabis production. The goal of a cannabis grower is to assist the warehouse team plant, nourish, harvest and ultimately produce the best quality cannabis flower in the industry. The gardener also needs to keep a keen eye on quality control as they play a major role in determining the health of our crops and be able to make the adjustments as needed. A master grower will ensure we grow different strains properly and identify and resolve issues with the plants. The gardener should have a hands-on approach with good knowledge of cannabis genetics and growth requirements. This requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to follow directions closely and maintain high quality work at a fast pace throughout the workday. This position requires that you are capable of sitting, standing, walking, crouching, hunching-over, kneeling and other vigorous body-movement positions. Employees must always follow security and compliance protocols as determined by the management and state authorities.
EXPERIENCE:
- Have significant I-502 growth experience
- Legally able to work in the state of Washington
- 21 years of age or older
- Knowledge of large-scale commercial plant cultivation including nutrient requirements, mediums, light requirements, temperature control, air flow, etc.
- Knowledge of state compliance systems.
- Physical aptitude and health necessary to perform manual labor tasks required for the proper management of grow warehouse.
- Advanced knowledge of the cannabis plant and genetics.

- Well researched in new techniques and insight to expand knowledge in nutrient of individual strains, high yield recipes, controlled stress environments to different lighting systems and set ups.

This Entry-level Gardener position provides employees an opportunity to begin their cultivation career path with Airfield. Gardener I’s assist in processing freshly harvested flowers. This is a great opportunity to gain insight into our production and curing processes. We have structured this entry-level role this way for two very specific reasons:
Increased Cannabis Knowledge. Working as a Gardener I will allow inexperienced gardeners an opportunity to get acclimated working with various strains grown at Airfield in a hands on capacity. Processing these completed grows will help deepen gardeners' understanding around what healthy cannabis flowers should look like after they have been properly grown and cured. The ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail is a key element to progressing to the Gardener II role.
Understanding the importance of quality control. As a springboard into the Gardener II role, Gardener I’s will be given additional tasks with specific instruction to manage once they have shown proficiency handling bucking projects and maintained good standing with Airfield’s attendance policy. It is important that prior to advancement to the next level within the grow department that employees understand why we adopt specific protocols for our vertical growth model. Airfield cultivation leadership will have an opportunity to access the employees growth and attention to detail prior to making a recommendation for advancement.

Summary
The successful Cannabis Farmer/Grower will work closely with the Senior grower to plan, organize, direct, coordinate and execute daily activities for production of cannabis crops. This position includes materials, personnel and facility management, logistics and capacity planning.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Overtime may be required.

Education and Qualification Requirements:

- Work closely with all Supervisors, Crew Leaders, and office staff to ensure that all aspects of the facility are running efficiently.
- Maintain production areas to ensure compliance with company quality and sanitation standards.
- Identify and implement methods and practices to achieve operational improvements in efficiency, quality, delivery, and operating profits.
- Collect & analyze data in order to proactively identify production issues or develop plans to resolve existing issues.

Job Description
We are seeking a Cannabis Cultivation Gardener who has been adversely impacted by the enforcement of cannabis-related laws in Illinois. This includes those who currently reside in disproportionately impacted areas* as well as those who have been arrested for, convicted of, or adjudicated delinquent for any offense that is eligible for expungement under the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act**. Members of an impacted family may apply as well***.
A Cannabis Gardener Level I oversees and manages personnel to perform all the tasks necessary to grow various strains of quality medical marijuana in a large-scale indoor cultivation facility. Perform all the tasks in the cultivation facility including; cloning, transplanting, feeding plants, defoliation, super cropping, topping, flushing, foliar and preventative sprays, trimming, packaging, waste disposal, and inventory management for a large commercial facility. Gardeners work in close collaboration with the engineering team on the implementation of first-class systems to maintain proper temperature and humidity controls for a healthy environment that eliminates the risk of mold, powdery mildew, etc.
The law defines the following terms as such:
- “disproportionately impacted areas” means a census tract or comparable geographic area that:
(1) meets at least one of the following criteria:
(A) the area has a poverty rate of at least 20% according to the latest federal decennial census; or
(B) 75% or more of the children in the area participate in the federal free lunch program according to reported statistics from the State Board of Education; or
(C) at least 20% of the households in the area receive assistance under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program; or
(D) the area has an average unemployment rate, as determined by the Illinois Department of Employment Security, that is more than 120% of the national unemployment average, as determined by the United States Department of Labor, for a period of at least 2 consecutive calendar years preceding the date of the application; and
(2) has high rates of arrest, conviction, and incarceration related to the sale, possession, use, cultivation, manufacture, or transport of cannabis.
** “Offenses eligible for expungement under the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act” include possession of cannabis up to 500g or the manufacturing and delivery of up to 30g of cannabis.
*** “Member of an impacted family” means an individual who has a parent, legal guardian, child, spouse, or dependent, or was a dependent of an individual who, prior to the effective date of the Act, was arrested for, convicted of, or adjudicated delinquent for any offense that is eligible for expungement under this Act.
Education/Experience
The Cannabis Gardener Level I position requires a minimum of 5 years of cultivation experience and at least two years in both a commercial operation and supervisory role to understand the day-to-day requirements of the job. Expertise in the medical cannabis industry is highly desirable but not required. Must be 21 years old and pass a criminal background check.
