Cannabis Lab Analysis Standards Program Lead Chemist in our Hemp Program!
The Hemp Program supports domestic and international trade of hemp plant material and hemp derived products, by providing sampling, testing, inspection, and licensing services that verify the pre-harvest condition, and THC concentration of hemp grown in the State.
WSDA, Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB), and the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) have formed an interagency program to adopt and establish rule and statewide guidance for cannabis laboratory quality standards conducting analysis of recreational and medicinal cannabis with THC levels greater than 0.3 percent. WSDA has been designated as the lead agency by the Washington State Legislature in statute (RCW 15.150). The program must coordinate among all participating agencies on agency policies, actions, and regulatory activities that relate to cannabis testing laboratory quality standards.
The program also advises WSDA on implementation and maintenance of cannabis testing laboratory quality standards topics including, but not limited to, analytical methods; validation protocols; quality assurance and quality control practices; project planning and sampling guides; and other topics as necessary to fulfill the purposes of the program and the legislation.
The Cannabis Lab Analysis Standards Program (CLASP)
Lead Chemist is the subject matter lead for the chemical (pesticide, heavy metals and microbials) laboratory analysis for cannabis and assists in the development of cannabis laboratory analysis standards in conjunction with the CLASP interagency team members. The incumbent will directly report to the Cannabis Lab Analysis Standards Program (CLASP) Lead. This position serves as WSDA’s expert scientific and chemical specialist responsible for researching, developing, and establishing cannabis analysis standards for laboratory testing. Cannabis testing laboratory quality standards must include but are not limited to approved methods for testing cannabis for compliance with product standards established by rule by the LCB or the DOH; method validation protocols; and performance measures and criteria applied to testing of cannabis products. This position involves significant coordination and liaison with LCB, and DOH, and as well as other state agencies, federal agencies, and local governments. In addition, this position will coordinate with the Department of Ecology, which is the agency responsible for the accreditation of cannabis analysis labs to the standards established by the interagency team.
In addition, this position will assist in the coordination efforts to establish, maintain, and update cannabis testing laboratory quality standards by rule. WSDA rules establishing laboratory testing protocols will provide the baseline information that the ECY accreditation program needs to evaluate and accredit testing laboratories. Testing laboratories must adhere to laboratory quality standards adopted by WSDA.

The Senior Chemist/Associate Lab Manager will be responsible for overall cannabis laboratory operations. This position is given directions by the Laboratory Director.
Duties
- The Senior Chemist, reporting to the Laboratory Director, will be responsible for all aspects of lab operations. Ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality results and unparalleled customer service.
- Oversees day to day operations by managing multiple analytical projects related to the development, qualification and/or troubleshooting of sensitive, efficient, and reliable assays for a wide class of molecules simultaneously with a laboratory operations team performing chemical, microscopic and microbiological testing procedures.

- Maintains and tracing overall performance of analytical equipment from installation qualification (IQ), operational qualification (OQ) and performance verification (PV) for HPLC, GC-MSMS, LC-MSMS, ICP-MS, qPCR, analytical balances, autoclave, centrifuge, biological safety cabinets, chemical fume hoods, cryomill, homogenizer, multi-channel pipette, and Hamilton liquid handler.

- Work with the Lab Director to prepare, review and maintain overall standard operation procedures (SOPs) and other controlled documentations in LIMS.
- Maintains ISO17025 accreditation scopes, cannabis proficiency testing (PT) for inter-laboratory, and inter-personal competency testing for cannabis and hemp raw material, matrix blank, formulations, and certified reference material (CRM) in compliance with FDA, USDA, AOAC, EPA, and knowledge of state and federal regulations and safety such as, but not limited to, OSHA, Fire Marshall and Police.
- Manages a complex laboratory operation and workflows with responsibility for the quality and quantity of the work of others, proper maintenance of laboratory conditions, safety procedures, equipment, instruments and supplies, files and records.
- Conducts or oversees inventory and order/arrange for pick up or delivery of laboratory reagents/supplies/materials through in LIMS as needed.

Qualifications:

Core Functions:

L2 Cannabis Lab Chemist/Technician - Day and Night Shift Available

Volta Biotech is a marijuana/hemp processing and refinement company. We can extract 80 pounds every 20 minutes with ethanol - possibly the biggest capacity in the state. On the marijuana side we sell bulk THC distillate (voltabiotech.com). On the hemp side we sell bulk D8 distillate to end-formulators nationwide (vb-labs.com). We're in a new building that is well maintained and well lit with security cameras for 24 hour monitoring.
Our capacity is 3 to 4 liters per hour. We have relationships with distribution companies and brokers and seek our own account executives selling directly to processors that use our distillate. We have some designs for retail products of our own but will take time to formulate the product itself - our focus is on bulk distillate. We do cryogenically cold ethanol extraction, decarboxylation, distillation, homogenizing, and spray drying processes. We also have an analytical HPLC to help with product formulation and verifying plant material from farmers.
We have a chemist that can get our equipment functioning, do troubleshooting, and create product formulations. We need chemists to handle the day-to-day production processes after some training. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual who is comfortable on their feet working in the lab doing laboratory tasks most of the day. Familiarity with pumps, hoses, and connections is preferred. Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related Chemistry field experience preferred. Cannabis experience is preferred. Comfortable on forklift is preferred.
The ideal candidate is an individual already experienced with cannabis processing, wants to work with larger equipment, and is excited to join our small team expanding from 5 to 15. Candidate must already be living in the Oklahoma City metro area to be eligible for this job.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform sample preparation and analysis of cannabis and cannabis products by GC-MS and ICP-MS following detailed procedures described in the company’s SOPs.
- Carry out method development and execute method validation of terpene analysis in accordance with ISO 17025 requirements.
- Review chromatographic and QA/QC data ensuring it meets established criteria and upload final results into the LIMS.
- Submit non-conforming work to the Corrective Action/Preventive Action workflow.

CERESLabs is a state-of-the-art cannabis testing laboratory located at a prime intersection of the cannabis supply chain in the scenic Salinas Valley, Greenfield, CA.Our mission is to ensure safe and appropriate cannabis for all end users.
The Lab Analyst reports to the Laboratory Director. The position is comprised of hands-on laboratory work and clerical work in day-to-day operations. The Lab Analyst will be expected to work across a variety of tasks with attention to detail, organization, and professionalism.A strong preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in laboratory compliance and/or compliance management. Prefer experience with operating and maintaining various analytical instruments, like the UHPLC. Must be able to work safely with chemicals, hazardous materials, and flammable reagents. You should have knowledge of GLP, GDP, and have the ability to follow the SOP.

Qualifications:

- Be organized, detail orientated and comfortable multi-tasking
- Have strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Have excellent typing and computer skills
- Must have, at a minimum, either: o Bachelor’s degree in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university;
OR o Completed 2 years of college or university education that included coursework in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related
sciences from an accredited college or university, plus at least 3 years of full-time practical experience.

We are a full-service cannabis testing and research lab offering state-mandated testing services to California’s cannabis distributors, cultivators, and manufacturers to ensure safety and accurate labeling of products for medical and recreational use.
The Analytical Chemist is a key position responsible for the testing of cannabis samples by GC-MS, LC-MS, and ICP-MS.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform sample preparation and analysis of cannabis and cannabis products by microwave digestion and ICP-MS following detailed procedures described in the company’s SOPs.
- Carry out method development and execute method validation of terpene analysis in accordance with ISO 17025 requirements.
- Review chromatographic and QA/QC data ensuring it meets established criteria and upload final results into the LIMS.
- Submit non-conforming work to the Corrective Action/Preventive Action workflow.
- Work with the Lab Director to prepare and review SOPs and other controlled documentation.
- Perform routine calibration and maintenance of instrumentation
- Work with a team of scientists in a fast-paced environment to design and implement analytical strategies.
- Prepare technical reports.
Additional Duties May Include:
- Cross-training on separate analytical methods (GC-MS, ICP-MS, HPLC, LC-MS/MS, PCR)
- Training scientific staff
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters (preferred) degree in relevant field and demonstrated technical proficiency with GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-MS, and/or HPLC.
- Experience in a regulated environment (ISO 17025, GLP, or GMP)
- Experience writing SOPs
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a cannabis or environmental testing lab
- Experience with Agilent instrumentation and MassHunter, ChemStation, or OpenLab software
- Experience developing methods for extraction and sample cleanup of dirty matrices
- Experience with LIMS and ELN documentation
- Experience maintaining and/or repairing GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-MS, HPLC instruments
- Experience with METRC
