Job Description Laboratory Director CERESLabs – Greenfield CA 93927 – Monterey County
CERESLabs is a state-of-the-art cannabis testing laboratory located at a prime intersection of the cannabis supply chain in the scenic Salinas Valley. Our mission is to ensure safe and appropriate cannabis for all consumers.
We are seeking a talented Laboratory Director to join our dynamic team and help run our cannabis testing laboratory. The Laboratory Director is an expert in analytical techniques, and can easily operate, troubleshoot and maintain sophisticated analytical instruments. The Lab Director is experienced in developing, validating, and implementing analytical methods. Additional responsibilities include managing the day to day operations of the lab, including creating, maintaining and implementing allSOPs, training, and managing the laboratory employees.
Core Responsibilities
- Execute exceptional wet laboratory techniques with documentation as per ISO
17025:2017 standards and the cannabis testing rules set forth by CaliforniaBureau of Cannabis Control (BCC).
- Experience working with the BCC on validation report submissions and communications
- Experience & expertise with instrumentation maintenance SOP’s
- Work with the following instrumentation: GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS, GC-FID, ICP-
MS, triple quadrupole LC-MS/MS. Candidates with LC-MS/MS & GC-MS/MS experience will be preferred.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and maintain equipment including preventive maintenance, calibration of analytical instrumentation including GC/FID, GC/MS, LC/MS/MS,
ICP-MS, and more.
- Ensure laboratory safety protocols are followed and address any safety concerns.
- Monitor and ensure the quality of all data generated by the lab. Promptly handle any issues that arise.
- Experience performing pesticide residue analysis in foods, soil, or water.
- Experience with rt PCR is a bonus.
- Experience with LIMS integration, electronic notebooks, and general IT knowledge
- Ensure that SOPs are followed, maintained, improved and meet BCC regulatory requirements.
- Supervise laboratory employees, including sampling/transport technicians, laboratory technicians, sample intake and general administration personnel.
- Create and manage all lab activity schedules including sampling pickups, lab through put, and customer reporting.
- Monitor all regulatory updates, maintain professional expertise and knowledge.
- Maintain an efficient lab and processes with precision time management skills.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Domestic travel may be required.
Qualifications
- A doctorial or master’s degree in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university, plus at least 2 years of full-time practical experience.
- Working experience in cannabis analytical laboratories preferred, especially experience working with a wide range of analytical testing.
- Must have management experience and team leadership skills.
- Experience with LIMS integration, electronic notebooks, and general IT knowledge.
- Professional expertise and experience with HPLC, GC, GC/MS and/or
LC/MS/MS on Shimadzu and Perkin Elmer instrumentation.

Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Quality Manager will serve as the administrator of the Quality Management System (QMS) and the primary point of contact regarding documentation and ISO accreditation.
Working with the Laboratory Director, the Quality Manager will define and implement the technology and systems required to track laboratory activity in accordance withISO 17025 and other accrediting/licensing bodies. The Quality Manager drives the advancement of client safety, developing accurate testing Standard OperatingProcedures (SOPs) with the Laboratory Director by rigorously and creatively applying their scientific knowledge, expertise and Lab experience. The Quality Manager possesses and leverages his or her credibility to inform and influence, leads activities on cannabis, provide insights for the proper procedures for handling samples to be tested and reporting results to the sampled cultivators and/or processors. The QualityManager shall be responsible for training and oversight supervision of all laboratory staff in order to ensure that the laboratory achieves and maintains quality standards of practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings or continued education activities; staying abreast of new trends and innovations in analytical science
- Lead a team of talented scientists and Lab Techs, growing and attracting top scientific talent
- Provides high-level commentary on vital complaints. Responds to crises involving cannabis complaints. Communicates with outside industry entities as needed.
- Proactively identifies need for analysis of potential safety issue. Communicates results of analysis to Chief Executive Officer as needed.
- Serves as an advisor in management review meetings.

Job Description Chemist - Cannabis Testing LaboratoryCERESLabs – Greenfield CA 93927 – Monterey County
CERESLabs is a state-of-the-art cannabis testing laboratory located at a prime intersection of the cannabis supply chain in the scenic Salinas Valley, Greenfield, CA.Our mission is to ensure safe and appropriate cannabis for all end users.
The Lab Analyst reports to the Laboratory Director. The position is comprised of hands-on laboratory work and clerical work in day-to-day operations. The Lab Analyst will be expected to work across a variety of tasks with attention to detail, organization, and professionalism.A strong preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in laboratory compliance and/or compliance management. Prefer experience with operating and maintaining various analytical instruments, like the UHPLC. Must be able to work safely with chemicals, hazardous materials, and flammable reagents. You should have knowledge of GLP, GDP, and have the ability to follow the SOP.

- Meet daily testing processing quotas
- Identify and resolve problems concerning equipment and materials
- Ensure that work environment is clean, safe and organized
- Instrument maintenance
- Maintain an even temperament, even in stressful situations
- Thorough documentation throughout testing process
- Take direction from Director
- Continuous desire for learning through research
Qualifications:
- Must have the experience of working in a regulated laboratory environment.
- Have theoretical knowledge of various analytical techniques and the ability to operate sophisticated laboratory equipment’s.
- Have experience with the operation of a HPLC or UHPLC.
- Be organized, detail orientated and comfortable multi-tasking
- Have strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Have excellent typing and computer skills
- Must have, at a minimum, either: o Bachelor’s degree in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university;
OR o Completed 2 years of college or university education that included coursework in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related
sciences from an accredited college or university, plus at least 3 years of full-time practical experience.
