Lead Nursery Grower, Everett
As the Lead Nursery Grower, you will be responsible for leading the nursery team as well as overseeing the production of seedlings that supply the production farms. This Lead is also responsible for plants during seeding and germination stages and for maintaining the nursery irrigation systems and trays. Responsibilities
- Plan/Update Nursery Growers schedule; coordinate with other FaaS Lead Growers when daily schedules need to be adjusted
- Provide work direction to ensure nursery growers seed efficiently and precisely according to individual plant requirements. Follow the germination process and detect deficiencies, diseases, and underperformance of plants. Pick the correct and best-performing seedlings for packing and planting.
- Perform daily seedling and nursery farm check-ups. Perform regular nursery audits. Oversee seedlings QA. Perform a daily check on the nursery working stations.

Restoration Nursery Grower- CVNPRN/VHCB
Join the Champlain Valley Native Plant Restoration Nursery as a plant grower for the season and learn the basics of plant propagation and the uses of native plants for conservation purposes. Through this position, you will gain professional and field experience that translate well into the natural resources field. Skills gained include improved plant ID skills and knowledge about growing practices, restoration project implementation, staff management (volunteers and interns), and record keeping. By serving at the Nursery, you will be a part of and help support a growing network of plant suppliers for restoration and conservation practices across Vermont. The basic function of the Assistant Grower (AG) is to assistant in the management of all growing activities in the fields and greenhouses. The AG focuses on cleaning, weeding, spot watering, plant health checks, inventory counts, and team supervision. 5.0 JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
5.1 Education: College or University graduate (preferred), with studies in horticulture, agriculture, botany, or biology preferred; or equivalent experience in nursery production.
5.2 Experience: At least 1 year of hands-on experience in a nursery environment, preferably in a greenhouse with experience in growing perennials, shrubs, and small fruit plants.
5.3 Skills: Basic computer skills with the ability to learn and use new programs and applications. Must have highly effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly in English is required, with bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred. Ability to select from a variety of established growing management procedures. Overview
We are seeking an Assistant Grower to oversee the company’s Frostproof Nursery and to perform the crop growing functions of elite varieties of Pongamia Trees.
The Assistant Grower role reports to the Manager of Agronomy and requires strong plant growing skills, people and resources management and communication skills. Plant propagation skills such as vegetative propagation techniques, irrigation / fertigation, pest and disease management, inventory control and quality control is a plus. Experience in shipping and handling is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Perform all duties related to growing a plant from start to finish, paying close attention to the recipe of the crops production cycle.
- Incorporate automation in the production and growing process.
- Responsible for the management of the growing environment utilizing environment control systems to produce a superior crop.
- Implement sound pest and disease management practices.
- Obtain a pesticide applicator license and perform all pesticide application activities.
- Adhere to all established protocols to maintain the varietal integrity of the plants during large scale propagation.
- Responsible for all fertilization management to the assigned crops.
Requirements, Education and Experience
- The candidate must be bilingual in both English and Spanish.
- The candidate must be authorized to work in the United States without Visa support.
- High School or Bachelors Degree with specializations in Agriculture, Horticulture or Tree Production.
- Working knowledge in agriculture and tree crops both in the greenhouse and field.
- Two years greenhouse and field production experience.
- Reside in or around Frostproof, Florida.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

We are hiring for a Grower Manager for our Visalia, CA nursery. You will lead all aspects of growing quality ornamental shrubs on approximately 80 acres. Your role will include but is not limited to all farm activities required to successfully and efficiently produce container nursery stock, such as labor management, mechanization, and pulling, racking and loading orders. Including designing, improving, and leading many aspect of our irrigation processes. Trees that are grown are sold throughout the intermountain west and beyond for use in landscapes. There are approximately 100,000 field trees in production. Digging approximately 30,000 - 40,000 per year with replanting 40,000 trees each season.
This position would include mostly hands on responsibilities, some management, and oversight for the following areas and others as developed and assigned. The ideal candidate should have educational or past work experience in agriculture irrigation systems.
Position Responsibilities:
- Design, built, and implement proper irrigation systems for the field grown trees
- Use of fertilizer injection methods throughout the growing season
- Using soil probes to determine proper irrigation needs throughout the farm.
- Work closely with Crop Consultants and Lead Growers to determine proper irrigation needs.
- Monitor and control Irrigation parts and tools and inventory of them.
- Use and maintenance of equipment to install mainlines, pipes, and other valves in the irrigation system.
- Coordination with others on new trees being planted each season and irrigation needs.
- Working closely with Lead Growers to eliminate death loss of trees due to irrigation.
- Using the irrigation system for chemigation and resolve nutrient deficiencies in trees.
- Seasonal irrigation crew development and management of employees with assistance of Office Staff.
- Bilingual is a needed. English & Spanish.
- Assist in recruiting and training of new hires each season for irrigation needs.
- Outlining irrigation crew for specific duties and keeping them on task each day.
- Coordinate daily and weekly with the Lead Growers to develop systems, plans and outlines for each season irrigation needs.

Plant Health
- Chemical Applications including fertilizers and pesticides
- Pruning and shaping of all trees at the farm
- Staking of all trees at the farm
- Soil and leaf sampling to determine ranges of nutrients and issues needed to be resolve. while working to identify and implement change to reduce death loss of trees.
- Work closely with Crop Consultants and Acequia Farm team on all chemicals and applications
- Weed control through various methods
- Inventory management with assistance of Inventory Specialists
- Coordination others on new trees being planted each season
- Working closely with Field Operations Lead Grower to remove dead, dying or diseased trees
- Keeping track of causes of disease or dying trees and work to remedy the issues
- Oversee all irrigation of the plant material at the Farm
- Using the irrigation system for chemigation and resolve nutrient deficiencies in trees
- Crew Development and management of employees with assistance of Office Staff. Bilingual is a plus but not required.
- Assisting in recruiting and training of new hires each season
- Outlining Crews for specific duties and keeping them on task each day
- Coordinating with the Lead Grower over Field Operations and the Office Assistant to insure all tasks are being accomplished
- Assist Office Assistant in the Shipping of outbound B&B Trees as needed
- Coordinate daily and weekly with the General Production Manager to develop systems, plans and outlines for each season
- Ordering certain supplies for many of the projects that are needed
- Other duties and assisting in other projects may be assigned from time to time
- Use of computer will be required: Word, Excel, Outlook, QuickBooks. A custom Inventory Software program will be trained on.
The actual agreed wage and benefits for this position ultimately depends upon experience. Teton Trees currently does not offer Health, Vision, or Dental Insurance. Overview
Assist nursery and greenhouse staff in day-to-day greenhouse and nursery operations, with a focus on nursery duties. Help with plant deliveries to garden areas as needed. Position needs to be flexible to work in changing environments and with different divisions within the department. Watering will be a focus of the position and a required skill set. Assist with the organization and hardening off process of the plants being grown for garden areas. This is a full-time position with a work schedule of Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 2:30 p,m.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In this role you will be responsible for the following:
- Assist Plant Production staff in growing plants through mixing soil, transplanting, thinning plugs, repotting, spacing, weeding, pruning, watering, fertilizing, and sanitizing.
- Work scheduled weekends and holidays as assigned.
- Assist in the delivery of plants to grounds, flower shows, plant sales and other special events.
- Keep work and storage areas clean and organized.
- Apply pesticides to crops and growing areas as assigned.
- Assist the nursey supervisor and growers with the inventory control of hard goods and plants.

Qualifications

- Obtain and ensure that designated growing department personnel maintain a valid Florida Private Pesticide Applicator’s license within ninety days of hire.
- Ensure that all growing department personnel have been trained in and certified by the Human Resources Department utilizing the R Plants Moisture Management Training and Certification program.
- Ensure that all growing department personnel have been trained regarding The Worker Protection Standards Act of 1992 to include proper Mixing, Handling and Loading of chemicals.
- Ensure that all supervisors complete required Employee Evaluations as communicated by the Director of Operations and/or the Human Resources department.
- Ensure that all growing department supervisors are correctly trained in and maintain proper documentation procedures.
- Ensure that all required documentation regarding employee attendance are completed as directed by the Director of Operations and/or the Human Resources Department.
- Planning, Data Integrity and Operations teams to review product assemblies for accuracy to ensure that proper cost analysis can be performed as needed.
- Moisture Management:
- Ensure that all growing staff understand and follow the correct time of day and conditions in which to irrigate the crops to avoid disease or fungal infections.
- Assist to irrigate crops in emergency situations such as, holidays, labor shortages, unusual weather, etc.

- Plant Growth Regulator (PGR) Management:
- Direct the application of Plant Growth Regulators to various crops to ensure a high quality, saleable product that meet customer expectations without wasting resources.
- Assist with actual applications in emergency situations such as; holidays, labor shortages, etc.
- Conduct trials to determine the best rates, intervals and PGR chemicals to be used on various products.
- Supervise the calibration of equipment to ensure that proper rates are being applied to the crops.
- Environmental Management:
- Oversee the programming and/or set-points of all greenhouse environmental control systems to maintain the most efficient growing environment possible without compromising crop timing or quality.
- Oversee the programming, use and maintenance of any supplemental or photoperiod lighting systems.
- Report and follow up on, any defective environmental equipment or structural problems (deflated hoops, holes in walls, vents not sealing properly, etc.) to the Maintenance Manager for repair.
Space Management Requirements:
- Evaluate space type and quantity required weekly for products to be produced
- Graphically map all farm locations weekly to ensure the proper placement of plant products within the various growing environments and to ensure efficiency regarding placement, spreading/moving, shipping and chemical applications.
- Notify the appropriate growing staff of environmental control changes needed to ensure that crops finish on-time and of high quality.
