This Position is responsible for following the direction of the Head Grower. Teammate supports and performs all Greenhouse related duties to ensure goals are met. Teammate also, ensures that growing plans are executed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with the required timing to achieve optimal growth in all crops.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works in the GH: unloads, spaces, harvests, and loads
- Checks products for quality and cleans products as necessary
- Monitors crops for optimal growth and maintains a proper climate in greenhouses.
- Performs irrigation of crops using automated and manual systems.
- Performs and monitors insect and disease control measures.
- Performs fertilization of crops.
- Records pesticide applications and maintains irrigation logs on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis as needed.
- Covers weekend duties as required by the monthly schedule.
- Reports on a weekly basis to apprise management of crop progress.
- Reports any departmental discrepancies or problems.
- Adheres to all safety and food safety guidelines.

- Monitor and report environmental conditions of greenhouse
- Scout daily for insects and disease pressure in crops
- Assist in applying biological control agents
- Responsible for all operational requirements in the assigned greenhouse. This includes maintenance notification, irrigation, fertilization, growing environment monitoring, sanitation efforts, etc.
- Responsible for the daily review of the crop quality. Any issues are to be raised immediately so action can be taken
- Responsible for minor maintenance repairs or for notifying maintenance of any concerns which could result in delays because of equipment maintenance issues
- Responsible for following all Food safety requirements for production in this area or on this equipment. This includes any logs or SOP’s
- Responsible for operating the machinery / equipment in a professional, safe manner, as determined by Occupational safety rules or manufacturer’s instructions
- Keeps a weekly inventory and fill out reports as required by the Grow team

The potential candidate should be a highly collaborative team member who will put Milmont's mission first and help to deliver remarkable experiences to our customers. The Senior Grower/Production Manager is responsible for producing high quality annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables, hanging baskets and potted plants. Our growing facilities include 24 greenhouses totaling 58,000 sq. ft. and over 1.5 acres of outdoor growing area.

Examples of Important Duties
- Assist with coordinating a complex schedule of crop production for retail and wholesale sales, special orders, and outdoor seasonal landscaping.
- Produce all seasonal annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables, hanging baskets and potted plants.
- Monitor and control greenhouse temperatures, humidity, soil fertility and moisture levels.
- Receive seed, plug and herbaceous for production.
- Specify materials and supplies to support production operations and oversee ordering and receiving.
- Use IPM practices to identify, monitor and manage pests, diseases and weeds.
- Assist and make recommendations on maintaining a yearly biological control program.
- Maintain a clean and orderly growing environment.
- Direct and guide production area staff, seasonal staff, volunteers and interns throughout the year.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Greenhouse Grower will work with the location’s management team to ensure that all aspects of growing processes are operating effectively. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Responsible for the environmental climate control, overseeing agriculture equipment and instruments, such as heating systems, humidity controls, irrigation systems, fertilizer units, water storage tanks, electrical and computer systems and controls

· Design, plan, implement, manage, and evaluate growing trials. Working closely with the R&D team.
· Training other growers indoor growing practices.
· Working closely the ‘Centre of Excellence’ to develop the ‘Shenandoah Way’ SOP’s & working practices for indoor growing as well as refining a growing manual for indoor production.
· Oversees crop production in assigned areas
· Analyzes insect and disease conditions and implements appropriate control measures
· Develops crop fertilization plan and oversees fertilization of crops by Growers and Grower Assistants

Under the direction of the Head Grower, the Assistant Grower is responsible for ensuring crops are grown optimally and on time to meet internal specifications. This person will be detail-oriented, driven by challenge, and successful in a fast-paced working environment. This position requires an energetic, motivated, and self-actualized individual that demonstrates leadership. This person will have the opportunity to take ownership of his/her area and cross-train with other technicians in the area to become more valuable for SGI and provide support as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the quality of the crops to be grown under best practices.
- Monitor and report environmental conditions of greenhouse
- Scout daily for insects and disease pressure in crops
- Assist in applying biological control agents
- Responsible for all operational requirements in the assigned greenhouse. This includes maintenance notification, irrigation, fertilization, growing environment monitoring, sanitation efforts, etc.
- Responsible for the daily review of the crop quality. Any issues are to be raised with immediately so action can be taken
- Responsible for minor maintenance repairs or for notifying maintenance of any concerns which could result in delays because of equipment maintenance issues
- Responsible for following all Food safety requirements for production in this area or on this equipment. This includes any logs or SOP’s
- Responsible for operating the machinery / equipment in a professional, safe manner, as determined by Occupational safety rules or manufacturer’s instructions
- Keeps a weekly inventory and fill out reports as required by the Grow team
- Other duties as needed/assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Undergraduate degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, or related field
- High School and equivalent years of experience in a growing position. Experience must include hands-on responsibility for the full scope production activities, both operations and analysis
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- 5 yrs. of experience in a related position with an emphasis in an operations production/manufacturing environment
- Prior experience with OSHA, HACCP, and GMPs
- Bilingual, English & Spanish
