As a Grower Relations Representative you will manage an assigned vineyard territory and partner with grape growers to influence vineyard practices. You will build and manage strategic grower relationships to drive grape quality through grape growing and viticulture practices. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities and advising growers on growing and production standards to ensure quality and production goals are met. What You Will Do:
- Functions as a liaison between winery and growers, educating/advising them on market conditions, quality standards and viticulture practices.
- Develops and maintains vineyard records on cultural practices, yields and grape quality.
- Expands and applies basic viticulture knowledge as it pertains to assigned territory.
- Responsible for coordinating, scheduling and delivery of grapes from the field to winery.
- Provides recommendations to growers on viticulture best practices to ensure quality and production goals are met.
- Negotiates most short-term contract terms with guidelines from leadership.
- Travels to grower sites to inspect vineyards, identify improvement opportunities and advise growers on growing practices and changes necessary to mitigate risk.
- Implements and manages short term projects. Participates in cross functional teams in order to achieve company goals.
- Participates in the development of pricing strategy.
- Monitors all aspects of crop development and forecasts crop tonnages.
- Ensures application of policies and procedures by growers in assigned territory.
- Reports market intelligence regularly to leadership and stays current with market activity pertaining to assigned territory or region.
- Complies with budgetary requirements.
- Oversees and monitors the performance of assigned growers.
- Supports the training and development of new Grower Relations Reps.
- Directs seasonal staff members.
- Continuously improves and develops new skills; stays current with the latest literature and takes initiative to apply ideas that potentially could contribute to improved viticulture processes.
- Must maintain satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
- Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.
What You Will Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Science or Business Administration plus 2 years of grower relations or agriculture experience OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 6 years of grower relations or agriculture experience.
- Experience working a minimum of 3 vintages.
- Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
- Required to drive to various vineyard locations as part of job functions.
- Specific vision abilities required for this job include color vision.
- Required to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Required to work long hours during peak season.
- Required to walk through vineyards to monitor crop and overall vineyard health.

We are currently seeking a skilled sales coordinator to become part our highly successful Wilmington, DE sales office.
Job Description: The Field Operations Technician should have experience in citrus industry. Along with building and maintaining grower relationships, this individual has the knowledge and understanding of citrus production forecasting.
Job Duties:
- Work directly with commodity manager to set up supply for various programs.
- Recruit new growers and maintain relationships with existing growers.
- Accurately evaluate fruit quality and potential yields.
- Communicate positive and negative news quickly and effectively.
- Driving to, from, and through ranches to evaluate fruit/fields.
- Understand and work with Labor Contractors and harvest crews.
- Facilitate block transfers between growers.
- Forecast annual production and water allocation.
- Willingness to learn and keep up with citrus industry trends and technology
Education and Experience:
- 3+ years of citrus industry experience
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- 3+ years of citrus quality control experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suites or similar products
- Famous Software knowledge, preferred
- Bilingual Spanish, preferred
- Strong Grower Base
- Basic understanding of Agronomy as it relates to citrus

The Grower Relations Representative oversees an assigned vineyard territory and partners with grape growers to influence vineyard practices. - Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
- Required to travel to various vineyard locations as part of job functions.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with technical support of routine vineyard activities from pruning to harvest
- Participate in the internal scouting program for insects and disease and track phenological data
- Work with management team to develop fertilizer and pesticides plan
- Order, inventory and distribute fertilizers and pesticides
- Oversee quality, precision, and record keeping of all fertilizer and pesticide applications
- Manage the crop estimation from data collection to final report
- Manage the collection and record keeping of soil, water, tissue, pruning weights and irrigation data
- Water status monitoring (e.g., visual observations, soil moisture probes, pressure bombs, leaf porometer) and work with management team to develop a weekly irrigation plan
- Assist with LIVE certification and reporting
- Stay current on wine grape research
- Assist farming team with projects relating to our regenerative farming goals and any other special projects or trials assigned by the Director of Farming
- Maintain existing and develop new relationships with outside Growers
- Manage all aspects of grape contracting, including negotiations, approvals, record keeping and data entry
- Oversee outside vineyards for grape quality and good viticultural practices, conformity to contract standards, identify issues and support Grower’s inquires related to seasonal practices
- Support winemaking team and help with annual crop forecasting and grape maturity sampling for Grower vineyards
- Assist with harvest scheduling and logistics: responsible for scheduling harvest with growers and support where needed at Estate vineyards
Employment Status:
Permanent full-time salaried position with full benefits.
Employment Conditions and Requirements:
The employee must be capable of occasionally lifting and carrying at least 50 pounds, as well as bending, squatting and walking on uneven ground, doing manual labor outside in all types of weather, walking, standing and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Job Description
- Oversee all growing activities during key phenological stages and guarantees JUSTIN viticulture standards are met within contract parameters; converses with growers to mutually achieve our high-quality expectations
- Monitor and reports grape phenology and vine health: records bud break, bloom, lag phase, veraison and harvest maturity dates
- Assist with annual crop forecasting including data analysis.
- Grape maturity sampling, processing and analysis for all internal and contracted acreage.
- Assist with harvest scheduling and logistics (e.g., trucking logistics, macro bin supply, winery communications, reporting harvest weights)
- Supervise and directs (3) seasonal vineyard interns to collect and input seasonal harvest data.
- Scout pests and diseases in all contracted vineyards.

- Maintain a professional and mutually beneficial working relationship between winery and growers.
- Assist in maintaining and developing annual records and reporting to catalogue yield and quality trends.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Viticulture, Agricultural Business, Enology or related field.
- Must have 1-2 years relevant experience.

We are looking for an experienced Grower Relations Representative to join our growing team! This position is to ensure the quality of our Estate and Contracted fruit. This person will work closely with our sister Vineyard Management company (Shannon Ranches) help to create an annual Farm Plan, monitor progress throughout the season, upkeep data, and coordinate with the winemaking and vineyard management team to ensure vineyard cultural practices are performed.
Supply Planning
- Ensure that the agreed percentages of all quality grapes required by Shannon Ridge Inc. are contracted.
- Work with Growers to release or cancel excess fruit if necessary.
- Maintain Vintrace database with accurate and timely records to allow for supply analysis
Negotiations
- Negotiate where necessary new grape supply agreements.
- Negotiate annual grape prices with winegrowers
- Manage the resolution of grower disputes
Grower Relations
Work independently in all aspects outlined below utilizing critical thinking, and a quality mindset to:
- Actively persue any new grower opportunities in accordance with the company’s supply strategy.
- Scout vineyards for pests and diseases
- Work with Growers to ensure grape quality and value are maximized and that good viticulture practices are met
- Maintain and ensure accuracy of all Viticulture information in Vintrace. This includes, but is not limited to: contracts, yield estimates, contract terms and status, payment reports, pesticide reports, and pest quarantine documents.

Essential Functions:
Viticulture, Technical and Business Relations – 65%
Develop strong business and professional relationships with contracted winegrowers in the Northern Interior and develop relationships with potential growers.
Support Director of Grower Relations and Grower Relations Administrator in the production, delivery and management of contracts and written grower communications.
Develop an in-depth understanding of the viticultural nuances of the Northern Interior region, including aspects of climate and soil and a knowledge of winegrower reputation, affiliations, and attitude. Stay educated on the latest viticultural techniques, organic practices and industry developments.
Promote improved wine grape quality through frequent vineyard visits and knowledge sharing. Monitor and document grower practices and grapevine phenology and advise growers on best winegrowing practices through farm plans.
Create a schedule to ensure that vineyards are continually evaluated for conditions such as rot, mildew, presence of insect pests, disease, vine collapse and vineyard and vine appearance. Collect and review pesticide use reports from growers prior to harvest as well as sustainable and organic certifications. Provide frequent and in-depth vineyard updates to winemakers and managers and organize vineyard tours as requested.
Provide information on wine grape market conditions to senior managers as requested, including information on pricing trends, planting activity and competitor activity.
Crop Estimation – 15%
Collect field data necessary to estimate annual and future yields in contracted vineyards; develop block yield estimates and provide data to Grower Relations Administrator, vineyard managers and management. Manage a database of past estimates and actuals, and component data.
Continually gather and supply up-to-date information on regional crop size and condition.
Harvest Management – 20%
Work with grower relations and winemaking staff to plan and execute harvest logistics to ensure timely delivery of grapes of the proper quality and quantity. During harvest, take sugar samples and monitor grape maturity in the Northern Interior providing information and feedback to winemakers, grower relations department and growers. Hire and supervise seasonal Vit Techs (sugar samplers).
Support winemaking staff in scheduling of harvest for contract growers; provide timely block ripeness and condition assessments; supervise seasonal harvest staff. Manage grower contractual obligations such as contract maximum tons, quality assessments, delivery requirements, etc.
Coordinate and communicate harvest schedule with growers and winemaking staff to ensure all internal partners are current.
Must Requirements:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Viticulture, Enology, Plant Science or related field plus a minimum of two (2) years prior viticulture or vineyard management experience or equivalent education/experience combination.

Essential Functions:
 Sustain relationships with existing contract growers and cultivate relationships with new growers as needs of wineries/brands dictate.
 Identify new vineyard sources in conjunction with pricing and quality goals, fulfilling varietals demands, securing high-quality sites and capitalizing on the spot market.
 Implement quality improvement strategies and communicate company values related to sustainable, organic & Biodynamic® farming practices to contract growers.
 Scout contract vineyards in adherence with established schedule to ensure compliance with quality parameters.
 Collect and compile viticultural data related to contract vineyards including phenology, yield, maturity, etc.
 Monitor and document performance of contract growers using winery database software.
 Develop crop estimates for harvest planning purposes at various wineries and custom crush facilities.
 Assess conditions of grape market continuously and relay information to counterparts on the production/winemaking teams.
 Assist with negotiation, drafting and processing of grape contracts.
 Input contractual information into winery database software and maintain consistent records to ensure on-going accuracy.
 Oversee scheduling of harvest, dissemination of delivery tags and coordination of grape deliveries to various wineries and custom crush facilities.
 Assist in and supervising viticultural technician and hiring and supervising seasonal maturity samplers.
 Collaborate with accounting team to ensure fluidity of grower compensation process.
 Create reports on an as-needed basis for use by management, winemaking and accounting teams.
 Grade contract growers annually using existing performance matrix.
 Serve as ambassador for various wineries/brands by participating in industry related groups, educating hospitality and sales staff members and interacting with distributors and consumers.
 Take-on additional projects as directed by supervisors.

The Role
We planted our first vineyard back in 1981 with a mission to make world-class Bordeaux-style blends. Since then, we've expanded both our knowledge of viticulture in this unique region as well as our partnerships with some of the finest Growers in Paso Robles. The Grower Relations Representative, under the direction of the Director of Grower Relations, is responsible for sourcing premium wine grapes to fulfill the many varying program needs. Bringing new quality sources and relationships to the team while ensuring existing relationships receive undivided attention is a must. You job is to guarantee JUSTIN viticulture standards are met within contract parameters and work with Growers to mutually achieve our high quality, hand-harvested expectations. Execute contracts and administration needs while working and informing team of changes and staying within budget. Oversee annual crop forecasting for all programs. Oversee the hiring of seasonal harvest employees and management of vineyard sampling. Participates in field activities related to research, technology transfer and practical application of technology improvements in viticulture.
Here's what you'll do:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for directing and overseeing general growing activities from pruning to harvest for contracted Growers or Management Companies. Identify opportunities for improvement or pursue new methods and trial work based upon what needs addressing. Support Growers' inquiries related to seasonal practices such as timing of shoot-thinning, canopy management and crop thinning. Address timely discussions related to harvest estimates, potential contract over supply and our needs.
- Oversees annual crop forecasting & grape maturity sampling for Growers and Estate Vineyards.
- Supervises Assistant Grower Relations Manager and 3 seasonal harvest employees
- Assist with Harvest scheduling and logistics: Responsible for scheduling harvests with growers, ensure trucking logistics and macro bin supply is maintained; reporting harvest weights and communicating with growers our day-to-day needs and capabilities
- Work closely with Winemaking Team to evaluate vineyards and wines. Reviewing and scoring 2019 vintage lots with Winemaking Team; share and discuss with Growers how their vineyards performed and position yourself to prepare for 2020 growing season
- Provide a supportive and safe working environment for your team while ensuring the daily tasks are being addressed
- Encouraged to participate and attend regional and state-wide educational events within the wine industry to grow your network and share new findings
