Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Grower Relations Representative to join our growing team! This position is to ensure the quality of our Estate and Contracted fruit. This person will work closely with our sister Vineyard Management company (Shannon Ranches) help to create an annual Farm Plan, monitor progress throughout the season, upkeep data, and coordinate with the winemaking and vineyard management team to ensure vineyard cultural practices are performed.
Supply Planning
- Ensure that the agreed percentages of all quality grapes required by Shannon Ridge Inc. are contracted.
- Work with Growers to release or cancel excess fruit if necessary.
- Maintain Vintrace database with accurate and timely records to allow for supply analysis
Negotiations
- Negotiate where necessary new grape supply agreements.
- Negotiate annual grape prices with winegrowers
- Manage the resolution of grower disputes
Grower Relations
Work independently in all aspects outlined below utilizing critical thinking, and a quality mindset to:
- Actively persue any new grower opportunities in accordance with the company’s supply strategy.
- Scout vineyards for pests and diseases
- Work with Growers to ensure grape quality and value are maximized and that good viticulture practices are met
- Maintain and ensure accuracy of all Viticulture information in Vintrace. This includes, but is not limited to: contracts, yield estimates, contract terms and status, payment reports, pesticide reports, and pest quarantine documents.
- Advise and participate with regional organizations on current and emerging trends in Viticulture
- Monitor fruit maturity and work closely with Winemakers to ensure a smooth and efficient harvest.
- Communicate and schedule harvest operations with growers and management companies, once the optimum picking time has been decided by the winemakers, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and quality.
- Support management and staff by flexible working locations depending on where the needs of the business are across the region.
Estate Ranches
- Work to develop farming plans and budget needs
- Supervise farming activities performed by vineyard management companies including, but not limited to: Work activities include, but are not limited to:
- Pest and disease scouting
- Spray Program assistance
- Petiole sampling
- Nutrient Program assistance
- Water status and irrigation management and monitoring
- Crop estimation and yield management
- Maturity sampling and processing
- Soil samples and analysis
- Virus sampling and assessments
- Assist with vineyard installation
- Data entry and analysis
- Implement additional farming requirements
- Recommend, monitor and implement procedures to maintain and improve vineyard yields and fruit quality.
- Define and implement effective pest management programs.
- Oversee quality and precision of chemical and fertilizer applications
- Collect data to assemble and update the crop estimation
- Ensure relevant practices are adhered to
- Search and evaluate vineyard problems and make recommendations that provide effective, timely and economic solutions and deliver quality fruit.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Viticulture/ Ag Science, Enology or 5 years in viticulture experience
- minimum of 3 years’ prior viticulture experience
- Bilingual Preferred
- Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Microsoft proficency
- Effective time management skills
- Self- Motivated. Highly organized with acute attention to detail
- Ability to understand and work with numbers
- A Valid CA Driver’s Liscence
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a winery environment
- Current QAL (Qualified Applicators License) or PCA (Pest Control Advisor)
- Knowledge of Vintrace and Ag Code or similar grape management system.

Job requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record – extensive driving of a company vehicle
- Lift 50 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors and walk on uneven terrain
- Punctual, hardworking, and eager to join an exciting vineyard management team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Bi-lingual in English & Spanish a +
- Age: 21+
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $58,470.00 - $64,000.00 per year
