ROLE:
We are looking for a hard-working individual to help run our advanced hydrocarbon extraction system. Individuals will be expected to safely and effectively extract raw cannabis material to produce cannabis concentrates (e.g., shatter, sugar wax, etc.) for legal medical and recreational consumption.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Performing individual duties in a safe manner and environment while adhering to all governmental regulations for this industry.
- Carrying out all extraction processing in an efficient manner that also complies with OSHA regulations and SOP’s and all applicable laboratory procedures.
- Performing in-process and post-process quality assurance testing and conducting visual inspections to ensure all product meets or exceed AMMA’s specifications and patients’ expectations. Such quality assurance work shall include but not be limited to:
- Recording and monitoring process conditions to ensure compliance to standard operating procedures.
- Proper weighing, data recording, and batch tracking throughout AMMA’s process
- Continually strive to improve AMMA’s processes for improved patient safety, quality, and efficient manufacturing
- Support new product and process development work with our Team.

Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D minimum.
Age: State law requires that applicants be 21 years old and over and be issued an agent card to work for a cultivation center.
Experience: The ideal candidate will have at least one to three years of applicable medical cannabis or related extraction, formulating, and packaging experience with a focus on ensuring product safety, consumer safety and satisfaction, and high product quality. Experience with closed loop BHO (butane, propane, mix gas) systems and ethanol extraction preferred, including large scale production sugar wax, crumble, and shatter.
Physical Requirements: Include standing, bending, and lifting to 50 pounds by themselves and 75+ pounds with a buddy, carrying product totes, pushing carts, moving, and adjusting process equipment.

The Position:
The lab team is responsible for extracting all Jetty oils from the raw plant material. They have excellent organizational skills, is process-oriented, and honors confidentiality. They are able to communicate clearly with the team and follow projects through effectively. The ideal candidate is able to juggle multiple tasks and execute on all of them.
Reporting to the Laboratory Director, the lab tech will be responsible for assigned tasks, as well as meeting daily, weekly, and milestone goals. They will be working closely with and coordinating with a team, but also must be a confident self-starter in order to execute independently in a production/lab environment. MUST BE OK WITH WORKING OCCASIONAL WEEKENDS.
Responsibilities:
Working both independently and in small groups on a variety of extraction procedures, including hydrocarbon extraction, winterization, filtration, rotary evaporation, and distillation.
- Possesses a deep understanding of all types of cannabis concentrates

The Hydrocarbon Extraction & Distillation Technician will be responsible for day to day extraction & distillation processing to create full spectrum. This includes intaking raw materials, operating the extraction and distillation equipment, tracking batch records, clean up and maintenance of equipment and facilities and conduct general extraction & processing duties. This position will work closely with the Director of Production.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Organize and manage data, extraction parameters, testing results and processes relating to lab activities.
· Operate Hydrocarbon extraction system for the production of cannabis extract.
· Operate Wiped Film Distiller to produce high quality cannabis distillate.
· Maintain inventory of all supplies, materials, equipment, finished products, by-product and spare parts.
· Storing supplies and equipment, disposal of waste according to guidelines, and keeping laboratory, storerooms and working areas immaculate.
· Provide forecasting insight and analysis while collecting cannabinoid data.
· Execute schedule batch and confirm batch records.
· Assists in supporting the optimization and distillation process.
· Maintain accurate tracking records of seed to scale system.
· Managing and training extraction technician teams efficiently and respectfully.
· Maintaining a continuous focus on safety, injury prevention in all aspects of production work
· Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) using GMP processes and guidelines
· Maintain process equipment and ensure such machinery operates in a clean organized environment.
· Report needed maintenance on laboratory and equipment, assist with the appropriate repairs
· Performing clerical work related to laboratory activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering or a related field required
· Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in related manufacturing role or within the botanical extraction industry.
· Experience with analytical processes, botanical or biologic processes preferred.
· Compliance and understanding of current Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP) guidelines.
· General knowledge of weights and measurement.
· Strong math and computer skills, including ability to create and interpret data.
· Experience complying with GMP standards.
· Knowledge of proper and safe handling and disposal of harmful chemicals, substances, and hazardous wastes.
SKILLS

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

PREFERRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Masters or higher-level degree in the Sciences with 4 years of GMP experience or undergraduate degree in the Sciences with eight years of GMP experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in cultivation and manufacturing environments. This role routinely uses cultivation processing equipment and standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Role Requirements
- Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a hydrocarbon extraction technician.
- A degree in related science or engineering will be considered.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Candidate must be a self-starter, flexible to work in a collaborative structure and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with commercial cannabis, Agricultural, or landscaping facility/company preferred
- Advanced knowledge of the cannabis plant and genetics strongly preferred though a strong agricultural background may be considered
- Knowledge of large-scale commercial plant cultivation including nutrient requirements, mediums, light requirements, temperature control, humidity manipulation, airflow, etc.
- Knowledge of different strains of cannabis and their unique growing demands desired
- Ability to execute techniques consistently
- Good documentation, inventory, and organization skills
- Ability to keep to a tight schedule
- Must be proficient with computers
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must be able to obtain a state-issued cultivation badge, which includes passing a background check free of felony convictions
- Must possess the physical aptitude and health necessary to perform manual labor tasks required to accomplish duties
