This position is responsible for managing and directing the Extraction department with effective leadership and coordination to achieve the weekly objective, while simultaneously developing the department to continuously improve and progress. This role is responsible for managing and supervising the Extraction department team members, Extraction Machines, supplies, extraction, organizing, and preparing the production of the variety of extraction SKUs for the company. Essential Duties
Leadership Procedures & Tasks

The Extraction Supervisor is responsible for taking product and using company methods and procedures to extract cannabis oils to be produced into our concentrate line. Also supervise the quality, sampling and final stages of production in the C1D1 and C1D2 environments. The Extractions Supervisor is responsible for the continued training of employees in maintaining quality standards, safety, compliance, sanitation, and cleanliness. All policies and standard operating procedures must be followed at all times to ensure the safety of all employees. The Extraction Supervisor is expected to operate under the highest standards of compliance and professionalism.
Essential Duties
Procedures
- Produce shatter, wax, decarbed oil and Distillate for edibles and topicals according to company procedure and quality.
- Record all extraction data using the Extraction Hash Counters.
- Work Environment
- Adhere to all work safety requirements including but not limited to lifting, bending, and move up and down ladders throughout shift.
- Perform regular cleaning and maintenance on work surfaces, tools and related equipment to ensure the MIP is well maintained.
- Keep doors closed when not in use.
- Wear protective clothing/PPE when working with plants, solvent and Hash oil.
- Before exiting the facility remove protective clothing and ensure that there is no cannabis on your personal clothing, shoes, or hair.
Product Quality
- Ensure that all extraction products are consistently prepared according to SOP's and compliance standards.
Equipment and Safety
- Operate ETS equipment and LSE equipment safely according to company procedures to produce end product for our infused line.
- Perform daily safety checks and preventative maintenance.
- Participate in weekly safety meetings to stay up to date on all Safety Rules.
- Ensure health and safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
- Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and kept in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following preventative maintenance programs.
- Employee will be expected to perform a successful respirator fit test once onboarded to the Extractions department. Respirator fit test recertifications will be performed on a yearly basis and must be passed each year in order for the employee to maintain their position within Extractions.
Systems
- Provide leadership and direction to departmental employees to ensure the effective use and management of systems. Think in terms of operational effectiveness, accessibility, security, and scalability.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Extraction Supervisor is responsible for the oversite and supervision of the Extraction Team within the Culta Processing Facility in accordance with Maryland laws and regulations and standards set by Culta. The Extraction Supervisor oversees the execution of cannabis into extracts by different methods as an integral part of the facility's daily production schedule. They are responsible in communicating with the Laboratory Manager to ensure all operational needs are met and any procedural problems are addresses and resolved proactively.

- Supervises the operations of all extraction equipment in Class 1 Division 2 Room as well as the Oven Room.

Ensures routine maintenance and cleaning is performed on all equipment and the logs are up to date, complete and compliant with state regulations.
- Able to identify problems or malfunctions with laboratory equipment and responsible for communicating with the Laboratory Manager when equipment is not preforming optimally.
- Communicates with the Distillation Supervisor on what products can be expected to be transferred post extraction, ensuring all production goals are met.
- Works with the Extraction Lead to establish production schedules and communicates those to the Laboratory Manager.

Ensures that all the documentation of all activities in company laboratory notebooks/ online logs and inventory tracking system software is always up to date, accurate and compliant with state regulations.
- Oversees the training of incoming staff on use of all extraction equipment and all processes for cannabinoid purification, and isolation.

The Extraction Supervisor will oversee all production, quality assurance, refinement, operations, training, safety awareness and personnel.
The Supervisor will manage a team of 4-6 direct reports to produce high-quality concentrates, distillates and isolates.The Extraction Supervisor will be the main team leader on the ground, it will include significant administrative and regulatory compliance duties.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and develop the ethanol extraction team
- Operate extraction and distillation along with thin film distillate & isolate systems
- Hire and train production personnel in order to meet production goals
- Maintain a safety minded environment with consistent quality results
- Create and improve SOP’s for all disciplines
- Compliance of all regulatory oversight, including safety, environmental and document control
- Ability to resolve conflict and create a culture of accountability and high-performance
- Ensuring equipment reliability throughout production process
- Identify operational efficiencies and apply cost reduction remedies
- Maintain records for production and inventory within METRC system

Cannabis Extraction Supervisor
Job Description
This position is a lead, supervisory position. The Extraction Supervisor position is responsible for directing the work of others and assisting in the manufacturing lab where the company produces marijuana concentrates. The lab is a multi-faceted environment and the Extraction Supervisor will handle a multitude of tasks including: engaging with and directing the operation of extraction equipment, production of marijuana concentrates, scheduling and organizing the extraction team, directing and engaging in Research and Development.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Carrying out routine tasks accurately and strictly following SOP’s.
- Following and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks.
- Direct and assist the Extraction Technicians in the performance of all of their extraction related duties. This will include checking the quality of the Technician's work to ensure that minimum standards are maintained.
- Coordinating with other departments and scheduling extraction runs and product refinement to meet the needs of those departments.
- Detailing extraction parameters, interpreting extraction data, and adjusting parameters as necessary.
- Maintaining rigorous logs, detailing extraction parameters, results, equipment and laboratory maintenance, and cleaning tasks, among other things. Checking these logs to ensure that these tasks are being performed, and their results recorded, by the Extraction Technicians.
- Identifying areas for Research and Development, formulate a plan of approach, and communicate any potential projects to Management. If an R&D project is approved, coordinate with Extraction Technicians to conduct necessary research and experimentation.
- Creating and implement a Cleaning Schedule, ensuring that equipment, tools, and workspaces maintain a high level of cleanliness.
- Ensuring that the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced, by regularly inventorying equipment and tools, and placing orders as necessary.
- Keeping equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs when needed.
- Keeping up to date with technical developments within the industry, especially those which can save time and improve reliability.
- Engaging in process improvement within the Extraction Lab, and documenting any changes.
- Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications, engaging in industry events, etc...
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Required Skills and Competencies
- 4 Year Degree in science-related field, or a minimum of 1 years' experience in a laboratory or product manufacturing setting.
- Experience managing others; taking ownership of the quality and consistency of work produced by the team.
- Should have, or be able capable of achieving, a basic understanding of the underlying principals of extraction, and how they affect the effectiveness of different methodologies.
- Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment and software including word processing, data base management (BioTrack), spreadsheet applications and electronic mail.
- Be able to resolve problems by examining and evaluating data, and selecting corrective steps.
- Must have strong communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats.
- Should have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, employees, and management.
- Must be able to approach conflict or disagreement constructively, and mediate in conflict as needed.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Must be able to understand and work within the strict confines of the laws set forth by the state with regards to its legal medical program.
- Should have, or be capable of achieving, a solid understanding of personnel and safety laws, and how to ensure their implementation within their workspace.
- 4 Year Degree in science-related field is preferred, but not mandatory.
- 1-2 years’ experience in a regulated industry, with a related skill set.
- Understanding of the variety of tasks required in working in a lab or manufacturing setting.
- Ability to work independently, manage projects and meet deadlines.
Ideally candidates will be promoted from within. However, this may not be possible at times; especially during startup. In the case that an outside hire is necessary, candidates can be pulled from industries such as:
- Laboratory/medical
- Any industrial work that requires the operation of delicate machinery
- Any occupation that focused on workplace or product safety
- Any compliance oriented position, that also has a managerial component.
