The Company: Displayit Inc.
Displayit Inc. designs and builds custom-branded solutions for retail environments, tradeshows, commercial office spaces/facilities, and more. We serve a range of clients and our scope typically includes custom furniture, fixtures, and structural elements. Displayit Inc.'s main competitive edge is speed and convenience, providing clients with a one-stop shop to meet their project goals. We manufacture both domestically and overseas. Our office building includes a large wood/metal shop and warehouse facility. The company has seen steady growth, key clients we are serving now are Starbucks and the entire VF corporation (Dickies, Vans, The North Face etc.).
Location: Irvine, Ca
Due to the nature of our work, we want designers working in-house. Being physically present is critical in order to coordinate with other departments and ensure designs are being brought to life in accordance with the designer's vision. Job Description:
Our designers are part of a 3-4 person team but are expected to work independently on assigned projects with oversight from the design director. Applicants should be able to juggle multiple projects and manage their time wisely. Experience in interior design/architecture is a plus as many of our projects span multiple fields of design. Applicants must love working in CAD as that is our primary medium. Designers who like to draw and work with their hands can also find a place here, but they must be able to develop their designs effectively into 3D models. Our design team works with our in-house engineers to carry out projects to completion and this is a critical step in our workflow.
Skills/Knowledge:
· 3D Modeling: we work in Rhino all day every day. It's not a requirement to already be proficient in this program, but they do need to have expertise in some 3D modeling software so that they can learn it easily on the job.
· Adobe Suite: Proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop is a must.
· Rendering: Applicants must have experience with a rendering software of some kind.
- Keyshot: We have used Keyshot for rendering primarily
- Twinnmotion: We are transitioning to learning twinnmotion to create VR experiences of our designs in addition to static renderings and walk-through videos.
· Presentation: Must have an eye for presentation and know how to sell a concept
· Creativity: We really value creativity, our clients vary greatly and designers must be able to come up with ideas for different aesthetics and functions.

Description
NJI is a wildly creative and strategically disciplined agency with offices in London, Washington, D.C., and Singapore. We consider ourselves a community of tastemakers and fire starters who always strive to challenge the status quo.
We seek a driven senior designer to join our US office. This year is an inflection point in NJI’s history: we’re celebrating 15 years in business, and have the ambition to match. This role will be pivotal in establishing the NJI identity, and supporting our global portfolio of clients.
The right candidate possesses a refined taste, a penchant for the daring, and the curiosity of a thousand chameleons. Versed in cross-platform execution, with chops in branding and digital products, this is a high-energy role that will join an international community of creative ninjas.
The creative team at NJI handles the nuanced, complex world of big policy, big tech, and nonprofits. We believe creativity can transform perceptions, foster conversation, and shape policies that change the world. We are not a product shop, but a change shop. In this next chapter of our growth, we hope to better tell our story and break our own status quo.
Work Hard Where You Are.
Part of our secret sauce is knowing that good talent can live anywhere. We actively encourage individuals to apply from across the country. NJI has U.S. team members located coast to coast as part of our HQ team based in Washington, D.C. From farmers to urban foragers, trapeze artists to Mario Kart fanatics, we have colleagues with diverse interests and addresses. This position is remote-eligible, with preference in the EST timezone, collaborating closely with the US headquarters and reporting to the Global Vice President of Creative in Washington D.C.
The Job.
- Execute projects with complex and ambiguous problems across a range of platforms. Versatility is the name of the game: you may be designing in the metaverse today, working across a suite of reports tomorrow, and brought in to brand a cannabis website next week.
- Work closely and cross-departmentally with other designers, leadership, development and video through phases of projects.
- Mentor junior members of the team though best-in-class design practices and techniques.
- Challenge the status quo with new ideas, tactics, and concepts.
- Push for constant improvements in our process and executions #neverbesatisfied
- Provide counsel to clients and peers over best practices, with an ability to create presentations that support work and storytell.
- Collaborate with project managers, copywriters, editors, developers, videographers and other designers.
- Become a fluent advocate for NJI brand and help us evolve it.
- Create fully realized creative concepts and assets that are on brand, strategically focused, and posed for success
Qualifications.
- 3+ Years of professional design experience working in a design field.
- Wowza portfolio: You have astute aesthetics. Portfolio should demonstrate versatility and multifaceted work. Applications submitted without a portfolio link, or attachment will be disqualified.
- Growth-Mindset: You find opportunity in challenges. NJI is a fast-paced, growing business across the globe, which means constantly re-evaluating how we operate. We’re seeking a partner thrilled to contribute to that growth.
- Skill-Fluency: You have an ability to pivot between techniques and toe the line between design and art. You understand Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop like the back of your hand. You have working knowledge of Figma or Sketch, and can apply UI and UX principles if needed.
- Super-Secret-Special-Sauce: You might dabble in 3D, world building, or embroidering bandanas for your dog. You have that little bit of extra as a designer. Whatever your side-passions are, we welcome them.
- Brand Philosophy: You listen to Brian Collins on repeat, and have a track record of working within, scaling, or building a brand.
- Creative-Enabler: you know how to foster creativity within a project, and collaborate with stakeholders of all levels for best results.
- Avid Listener: You make internal and external partners feel heard, inspired, and transcended in your conversations, offering best practices and sound counsel.
- Process-Guru: you have proven success in scaling and improving large, multi-faceted projects. You know how to streamline every phase of a creative project from research and ideation through refinement and delivery.
Cover Letter.
We think of cover letters more in the old-fashioned pen pal sense. So, keep the job summary and skills list in your resume, and write something that personally expresses who you are and what draws you to NJI and this role.
Diversity Commitment.
Authenticity is the foundation of boundless creativity. Rooted in diverse life experience, our team challenges the status quo through our work and culture every day. We are committed to sustaining and improving NJI's inclusive workplace through actively expanding the diversity of our team. We encourage people from underrepresented groups to apply.
