Position Summary/Objective
The primary responsibility of the EH&S Specialist is to partner with Retail, Production, Facilities and Supply Chain to ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations and processes, specifically OSHA, EPA, workers compensation, and all Company policies, practices, and procedures. The EH&S Specialist directly supports the overall EH&S initiatives within the organization. This includes both proactive and reactive efforts to maintain compliance and develop a supportive, adaptive and flexible EH&S Program.
This position will monitor the EH&S program health and development/implementation procedures to improve the EH&S compliance. This position will also lead investigations and corrective action teams to quickly identify, contain and correct (both short -term and long-term) EH&S issues.

Responsibilities:
- Continually develop comprehensive, lean EH&S processes based on proven EH&S methodology in a way that promotes employee accountability, is adaptable to the organization and will prevent or correct unsafe and/or environmentally unsound conditions.
- Standardize and communicate EH&S processes, engage employees at all levels in developing/evaluating EH&S processes, and provide EH&S support to management and employees to ensure compliance with EH&S federal, state and local statues and regulations and all Company policies, practices, and procedures.
- Continuously review regulatory requirements and provide suggestions to management on implementing policy and/or process changes to comply with new and/or modified regulations.
- Provide training and develop / lead the implementation of EH&S training programs that will promote EH&S awareness and assure compliance among all employees, including outside contractors.
- Develop and provide key EH&S KPIs to evaluate the performance of EH&S Program and direct the implementation of corrective action programs to assure that safety issues are addressed in a timely and appropriate manner.
- During regulatory audits (e.g. OSHA, EPA, DOT etc.), function as liaison, along with the VP of Compliance, with regulatory authorities. Prepare responses to NODs and Plan of Corrections to regulatory authorities.
- Member of Internal Audit Team including helping to prepare for facility inspections, train associates, and speak to auditors during government regulatory investigations, and other external audits.
- Along with the VP of Compliance, develop collaborative relationships with Regulatory Agency representatives and regulators.
- Manage the security personnel, processes and relationships with third party security contractors.
- Assist with Management inquiries/requests and resolve issues in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Performs related duties as assigned while providing operational support to local management teams.

Qualifications:

The
Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Public Health Division (PHD), Oregon State Public Health Laboratory (OSPHL) in Hillsboro, OR
is seeking two Environmental & Cannabis Laboratory Assessors, one limited duration and one permanent, to assess environmental and cannabis testing laboratories for regulatory compliance.
What will you do?
As an Environmental & Cannabis Laboratory Assessor, you will perform the following duties:

Perform microbiology, chemistry, and quality systems assessments of environmental and Cannabis testing laboratories to determine compliance with the TNI Standard as implemented through ORELAP, federal, state, and local rules and regulations pertaining to environmental laboratories.

Perform document reviews of environmental laboratory testing methods, analyze data records and quality system documentation to determine compliance with the TNI Standard as implemented through ORELAP, federal, state, and local rules and regulations.

Assign the severity of laboratory deficiencies cited and monitor corrective actions that are implemented to settle instances of non-compliance.

Develop program goals, objectives, and action plans with program staff and inter-agency partners.
-
Participate in the national TNI consensus standards development.
-
Formulate ORELAP policies and procedures that reflect the TNI Standards.
-
Laboratories that are assessed may be in or out-of-state and often require overnight travel.

Act as backup to the ORELAP manager to prepare invoices and certificates, add tests/analytes to the ORELAP database, and prepare assessment reports

What are we looking for?
Minimum Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in chemistry or microbiology or a related natural science degree AND three years of experience in an environmental or cannabis laboratory or a related facility that included compliance testing;
OR
Five years of experience doing administrative research in an environmental or cannabis laboratory or a related field that included compiling and evaluating facts to recommend management action or decide compliance or eligibility with program guidelines and regulations. Three of the five years must be above the technical support level;
Requested Skills

Preference will be given to applicants with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in microbiology, chemistry, or a related field, AND recent environmental or cannabis laboratory experience.

Experience working in an environmental or cannabis laboratory environment.

Experience evaluating laboratories and quality systems.

Knowledge of the TNI Standards.

Experience working with drinking water regulations, data reduction, and reporting techniques.

Must have the ability to obtain certifications in two drinking water disciplines (inorganic, organic, and/or microbiology).

Must successfully complete the Basic Assessor Training Course, Technical Course for Microbiology, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and refresher courses.

Professional, diplomatic oral and written communication skills required.

Proficient use of Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and MS Teams.

Job Summary
The EHS Specialist plays a vital role in supporting safe and effective operations by means of executing company-wide Health and Safety programs. Responsible for supporting safety needs based on regulatory requirements, as well as communicating and developing action plans, policies, and procedures to ensure employee safety.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare reports and maintain safety and injury tracking.
- Organize and conduct safety training/orientation and manage training recordkeeping to assure compliance standards and regulations
- First responder
- Stay current on standards
- Lead root cause analysis events. Conduct investigations of safety incidents resulting in injury or property damage and near misses that could have resulted in injury or property damage. Manage action items as a result of investigation.
- Conduct proactive safety walks, Operational Excellence audits and Occupational Safety Analysis activities
- Coordinate Workers' Compensation program
- Track and record safety KPI’s such as safety improvements. Follow up to make sure identified safety improvements move to completion.
- Coordinate the Safety Committee and manage activities (Safety Week) resulting from committee recommendations
- Coordinate employee health testing such as audiometric and respiratory fit and manage results
- Monitors the general environment for industrial hygiene related needs such as noise and air quality. Evaluate need for industrial hygiene studies and coordinate accordingly
- Performs research and coordinates with facility managers to gather information and observe employee activity to investigate accidents and injuries, and determine compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and company policies
- Complete recordkeeping to include writing a variety of reports including accident reports, Health & Safety violation reports, as well as completing required Health & Safety forms such as OHSA 300 & OSHA 300A
- Review accident reports, incident reports and other employee-completed documentation as part of the investigation process
Qualifications
- Hands on experience in EHS/ environmental regulations and policies
- First Aid and CPR Certified
- Must meet the age requirement as outlined by state cannabis agencies
- Able to pass all background checks/fingerprinting as required by state cannabis agencies
- Able to provide valid badging/credentials as required by state cannabis agencies
Education
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field preferred;
- National Association of Safety Professionals Licensed Safety Professional®, Certified Safety Manager® or other certification preferred
Experience
- Two years of related experience required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Working conditions
This person may be exposed to dust, kief, cleaning chemicals, and fumes. Although systems are in place to remove these byproducts, there is still exposure to some degree. This person will be traveling between dispensaries and manufacturing facilities within AYR Wellness.

- Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.

The Coconino County Health and Human Services' Environmental Health Program provides licensing and inspection services to just over 2,000 businesses throughout Coconino County to food establishments, hotels/motels, pools and spas, schools, children's camps, medical marijuana dispensaries, trailer parks/campgrounds, body art establishments as well as special event permitting. In addition, the program responds to public nuisance complaints and conducts vector activities for the surveillance of vector borne illnesses.
The Environmental Health (EH) Specialist II conducts inspections, manages special event permitting and assists with vector activities. In addition, the EH Specialist II strives to promote public health; prevent the spread of communicable and foodborne disease; reduce the risk of preventable illnesses and communicable disease; prevent transmission of vector borne illness; inform the public on steps to prevent illness and accidental injury; offer education to employees of regulated establishments; regulate permitted and licensed establishments to assure code compliance; determine if service levels are met and provide services that meet the expectations of our customers.
Under general supervision performs work of considerable difficulty in the environmental health field; performs related duties as assigned.

- Inspects various entities to ensure compliance with applicable legal codes
- Identifies and documents violations and secures compliance
- Performs epidemiological investigations under the direction of the Epidemiologist
- Conducts public health nuisance investigations, and resolves complaints, recommending enforcement actions to Director
- Reviews moderate to complex plans and makes determination to approve or deny
- Prepares documentation and enters data into Citizenserve permit tracking system
- Implements routine enforcement measures related to inspection duties
- Coordinates specialized programs
- Assists with vector control and zoonotic disease surveillance

- Performs related duties as assigned
Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: driving; standing, walking, crouching, stooping, kneeling, reaching and bending to perform inspections and investigations; working with and around other staff and customers; working alone; color vision for inspections, investigations and training; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation and communicating with customers, staff, etc.; finger dexterity for inspections, investigations and training.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, environmental science or closely related field and three years experience working in environmental health program; OR any combination of post-graduate education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a current certificate as a registered sanitarian issued by the State of Arizona. Be licensed by State Pest Control Commission, and certified Pool/Spa Operator by the National Swimming Pool Foundation, or acquire pest control licensing and pool/spa operator certificate within six months of employment.
Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report.
Preferred qualifications: Four years of Environmental Health experience, experience with multiple Environmental Health programs including plan reviews, vector activities and special event programming, be standardized by the Food % Drug Administration and bilingual in Spanish or Navajo.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter, excellent communicator with high customer service skills and emotional intelligence; detail oriented, solution focused with experience in conducting inspections and investigations.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, environmental science or closely related field and one year experience working in an environmental health program.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess current certification as a Registered Sanitarian with the State of Arizona. Must be licensed by State Pest Control Commission; and certified Pool/Spa Operator by the National Swimming Pool Foundation or be willing to attain a Pest Control Applicator License and a Pool/Spa Operator Certificate within one year of employment.
Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report.
Please note: Coconino County Health and Human Services Department will consider hiring a Environmental Health Specialist I who may not meet all stated additional requirements with an offer made contingent upon final review of applicant education and experience as related to the position. Coconino County will also consider hiring an individual if the applicant is not a Registered Sanitarian but meets the requirements to take the sanitarian exam. The individual will be hired at 5% below entry and will have up to one year to pass the sanitarian exam.

Summary of Position
The County of Monterey's Environmental Health Bureau is seeking individuals to join our dynamic team of professionals to conduct inspections, outreach, investigations, and surveys in support of Federal, State and local environmental health laws and regulations in an assigned district or specialty area.

Required Conditions of Employment
- Pursuant to Section 106660 California Health and Safety Code, at the time of application, all applicants must present a current evaluation letter from the State of California, Department of Public Health which states that the applicant is eligible to begin training in a n approved environmental health program.
- Pursuant to Section 106615(d) California Health and Safety Code, the appointee must possess the education requirement necessary to qualify to State of California registration as an Environmental Health Specialist Trainee.
- The Environmental Health Specialist I must complete all required education, experience and training for and obtain a valid Certificate of Registration as an Environmental Health Specialist issued by the State of California, Department of Health Services, no later than 36 months from date of hire.
- Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License.
- Tolerate rodents and insects; such as, rats, mice, and cockroaches; tolerate unsanitary or hazardous conditions; such as, septic failures, accumulated garbage or animal waste.
- Work with potentially hostile individuals in volatile situations.
- Enter and perform work in establishments which may expose the incumbent to what may be considered offensive or repugnant sights, sounds, or smells.
- Work with or around equipment that, if misused, has the potential to present a radiological hazard.
