Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Benson Hill recently opened a new 47,000 square-foot facility that features dynamically adaptive Conviron® growth houses and chambers. These state-of-the-art environmentally controlled grow rooms are equipped with multi-channel LEDs, additive CO2, temperature, humidity and lighting controls providing 2 fold increase in crop cycles annually compared to traditional cropping methods. Position Summary
The Research Associate II - Grower will help oversee growing operations within the Crop Accelerator department including ensuring all equipment used for growing is running optimally and well maintained.
This position assists with oversight of plant care, IPM, environmental monitoring, fertigation and irrigation. Collects technical data and information of plant and greenhouse and grow room performance and can help trouble shoot horticultural automation and optimize processes. Assists headhouse tasks such as automatic and manual flat/pot filling, transplanting, harvesting, drying, threshing, seed sowing, discarding, and sanitation to ensure best plant care practices are implemented.

- Execute growing activities at Crop Accelerator, with focus on auto-irrigation programming throughout plant growth cycles.

The Associate Grower is responsible for supporting and assisting the Director of Cultivation, the Head Grower, and other Supervisors and Managers in all aspects of cannabis plant management. This position will be responsible for maintaining the flowering room(s) and supporting all harvest processes of the plant. Priorities include feeding, defoliating, hanging, drying, trimming, curing, environmental control, fertigation, pest control, waste disposal, and inventory management for plants in preparation for product sale or transfer.
Work Conditions for Growers: The facility contains confined spaces that may only be accessible by ascending/descending stairs while traveling throughout the building. Grower Operations Associate
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Grower Operations Associate, are to:
- Manage day-to-day operations in greenhouses, and control chambers in operations on site;
- Ensure application and adoption of best practices in crop management, irrigation, plant nutrition, plant health, and harvest to deliver quality data and optimize results for cost, quality and yield;
- Collaborate to schedule activities according to crop cycles, supervise contractor labor, and maintain records and supplies;
- Apply proper planning tools to manage tasks such as capacity request and management; transplanting, fertigation, pollination and harvest;
- Execute plan and labor breeding operational tasks as planned, including greenhouse setup, transplant, crop growing, harvest and relinquish trial sets back to breeding;
- Leverage metrics applications and quality control processes to realize accuracy, efficiency and expanded improvements to protocols;
- Capture data in Windows and iOS operating systems (desktop computing, iPhones, iPads) and conduct data quality check and assurance to enable timely advancement of vegetable products;
- Partner with stakeholders across the organization to deliver results within the crops;
- Proactively identify opportunities to assist in improving established procedures, and lead troubleshooting activities through root cause analysis and troubleshooting techniques;
- Ensure compliance with Worker Protection Standards (WPS) as well as Bayer safety guidelines and housekeeping practices;
- Perform tasks to ensure compliance with Bayer policies and quality standard, including safeguarding of equipment daily use logs, calibration and maintenance;
- Manage ordering and inventory of all greenhouse chemicals and consumables to support growing operations;
- Schedule, record and report pesticide applications to local county Ag office to maintain compliance with local regulations;
- Lead weekly greenhouse operations activities meetings and review sowing, planning, pruning, harvest and pesticide applications with breeding assistants and technicians to ensure timeliness of operations;
- Communicate updates and changes to greenhouse activities schedules to stakeholders;
- Serve as primary greenhouse system software (PRIVA) data manager for > 50 greenhouses and ensure appropriate environmental controls, irrigation and fertigation schedules are in place;
- Serve as primary person responsible for Capacity Request and Allocation activities for greenhouse operations – covers 10 different crops, >10 different stakeholders and 3 or 4 cycles per year;
- Work with site labor coordinator to ensure sufficient support for all greenhouse activities and provide feedback to site labor coordinator and Farm Labor Contractor Supervisors on contractor proficiency;
- Work with other breeding operations associates, assistants and technicians to develop action plans to address stakeholder feedback and improve greenhouse operations;
- Mentor others on greenhouse growing operations to ensure business continuity.

Summary
The Cultivation Associate/Grower is primarily responsible for cleaning, upkeep and sanitation of the cultivation facility. Including, but not limited to, breaking down and setting up rooms, as well as washing and sanitizing all equipment for pests, viruses and disease. At times, the Cultivation Associate/Grower is responsible for quality and efficient cannabis plant trimming in preparation for sale. Duties include, but are not limited to, placing, skirting, trellising, weaving, super cropping, and de-fanning plants. Performing all duties in accordance with company best practices at the cultivation facility is the most important aspect of the Cultivation Associate/Grower position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining the quality of all manufactured products.
- Efficiently washes/maintains growing medium.
- Responsible for harvesting plants in preparation for processing.
- Properly grinds plant matter for disposal.
- Responsible for the management and monitoring of all horticulture process parameters and inputs including but not limited to nutrient management, irrigation activities, climate management, light recipes, etc.
- Oversee facility strategies including exclusion, crop monitoring, record keeping, preventative measures, and additional methods of control.
- Monitor and ensure proper functioning of critical horticulture equipment including sensitive analytical instruments, data management tools and controls.
- Develop and adhere to standard operating procedures and quality standards to ensure crop success.
- Ensure the safe handling, inventory and maintenance of fertilizer chemicals and crop inputs.
- Ensure that the facility is operating and producing product that meets food safety and quality standards.
- Responsible for maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the warehouse.
- Handle, mix, and apply pesticides in a manner that is compliant with all WPS, CDA, EPA, and MED rules and regulations.
- All other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) required
- Must maintain current knowledge and adhere to all policy and regulations of the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED); Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and TGS Global
Required Skills & Experience:
- Excellent computer, mathematical, language, and reasoning skills

- Must be able to acquire MED badge prior to beginning employment
Physical requirements:

Position Description
Revel Cultivars, LLC is a Tier II cultivator located in the rural San Luis Valley, Moffat, Colorado and is hiring
(2) Associate Grower positions for their newly constructed, state-of-the-art sealed hydroponic (DWC) greenhouse operation for Fall/Winter 2021. This position will report directly to the Assistant Grower and will be responsible for carrying out daily cultivation operations. The Associate Grower will support the
Assistant Grower on a full-time basis to carry out the tasks assigned to cultivate a healthy and stable growing environment for 12,000 square feet of perpetual greenhouse cultivation and up to 17,000 square feet of seasonal outdoor cultivation space.
The ideal candidate should have at least 1-3 years’ experience in the commercial cannabis industry and be comfortable working independently and in small teams. Candidates that have start-up experience will thrive in this position. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of identifying various signs of plant health, stress, disease, and common pests. Additionally, candidates should have a base knowledge of how to maintain optimal cannabis plant health and how to increase crop yields through: low stress training techniques, IPM regimens, organic and salt-based nutrient additives. Operational knowledge of at-scale harvesting procedures, packaging, drying/curing practices, and inventory tracking system experience is strongly desired in an ideal candidate.
Responsibilities:

This is a full-time employment opportunity and pay is commensurate with experience. Working schedule is negotiable. This position earns 4 hours per pay period toward Paid Time Off (approx. 14 days per year).

The Associate Grower is responsible for supporting and assisting the Director of Cultivation, the Head Grower, and other Supervisors and Managers in all aspects of cannabis plant management. This position will be responsible for maintaining the flowering room(s) and supporting all harvest processes of the plant. Priorities include feeding, defoliating, hanging, drying, trimming, curing, environmental control, fertigation, pest control, waste disposal, and inventory management for plants in preparation for product sale or transfer.
Work Conditions for Growers: The facility contains confined spaces that may only be accessible by ascending/descending stairs while traveling throughout the building. Essential Responsibilities
- Follow all procedures according to local and state regulations and company policies
- Ensure that all safety protocols, procedures, and facility rules are followed, including dress codes.

- Assist with daily monitoring of reservoirs to maintain pH, nutrient levels, and cleanliness
- Help conduct equipment inspections and maintenance including replacement of light bulbs, irrigation tubing, water pumps and other grow machinery

- Follow proper plant harvesting, trimming, drying, and curing processes according to company guidelines and S.O.P.s

- Maintain operational excellence at all workstations/areas; Maintain a clean and organized work environment

About Role
The Associate Grower will assist the Senior Grower in managing the seed start and propagation, transplanting, growing and harvesting process for the entire indoor farm. You will work with the Farm Operations team to meet daily and weekly production plans.
What You'll Do:
- Hands-on role, including the harvesting and transplanting of crops, monitoring and controlling plant nutrition, and managing the high-intensity plant production equipment
- Help strategically coordinate and execute the production control plan in order to meet customer demands consistently with quality produce
- Conduct 24-7 grow cycle scheduling and coverage to ensure no farm disruption
- Assist the Senior Grower in a variety of farm-wide activities including:
- Germination, propagation and growing processes to generate reliable high yield
- Coordinate equipment, raw materials, processing tools, training and resource balancing to meet daily seeding, transplanting and harvesting schedules
- Monitor and adjust irrigation, nutrient, lighting and climate to minimize farm environment variation and optimize plant health and output
- Establish and maintain a food safe environment including daily cleaning with staff and farm associates
- Lead food safety program compliance (Program: Primus and or SQF)
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor of Science degree with minimum 2 years of experience as a commercial grower
- Understanding of plant science, horticulture and plant materials, propagation, pest management, and crop production
- Experience in a manufacturing (or similar) environment with disciplined process, product quality, on-time deliveries and attention to cleanliness
- Experience supervising and leading teams
- Understanding of safe work practices, tools, cleaning techniques, and personal protective equipment to meet food safety requirements
- Experience with data collection, analysis and documentation tools
- Collaborative problem solver that can communicate well with other managers, team leads and associates
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to implement and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent organizational skills, strong decision-making and execution skills
- Familiarity with MS Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc). Ability to perform basic functions and updates to spreadsheets and word documents

As Associate Grower, you will primarily assist and support the Grower Manager in the production and optimization of crops such as microgreens, edible flowers, and edible leaves. You will be responsible for making informed decisions about irrigation, fertilization, and germination, and for helping schedule crop rotations.
- Associate Grower Required Skills and Qualifications- Excellent computer skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) – particularly Excel
- Prior experience working in greenhouses, food production, or related education- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively- Works well in a fast-paced environment, able to thrive under minimal supervision & direction- Bachelor’s degree in Crop Sciences, Sustainable Agriculture, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, or other agricultural plant-based areas of study and/or minimum three years of field experience in hydroponics, sustainable agriculture, or horticulture experience with vegetable, herb, microgreen, and flower production and cultivation techniques in soil-less or container applications- Available to work weekends and flexible hours as required
- As an Associate Grower, your day-to-day tasks will include: - Make skillful & informed decisions about crop irrigation and fertilization across a wide variety of diverse plants
- Monitor, control, and suggest improvements to plant nutrition, environmental conditions, cultivation and harvesting techniques, and data logging- Assist with the control of common greenhouse pests and diseases, especially utilizing our Integrated Pest Management program- Participate in ongoing quality control of growing, picked, packed, & received products- Utilize production data in Excel and sales predictions to schedule and fine-tune crop rotations for many diverse crops- Train and assist employees in growing procedures and use of growing equipment- Make suggestions regarding product design and work closely on research and development projects- Work with Grower Manager to improve department processes and efficiencies, consistent with the optimum utilization of human and physical resources- Work with the growing and production teams to record and utilize production data- Manage operation to comply with all applicable safety laws and regulations as well as HACCP protocol, procedures, and standards
