We are looking for an experienced tax professional who has worked in public companies or a tax consulting firm serving Fortune 500 clients for 5 or more years to join our growing in-house tax team.
As a member of the Tilray Tax Team, you have the opportunity to be at the forefront of new tax laws and regulations for the rapidly multibillion's cannabis growing industry. This role is a preparer role that will develop into a manager role of the international tax group as the industry grows. The successful candidate will have substantial experience in domestic and international laws and regulations. In this role, you will support acquisitions, disposition, and global tax planning to maximizing future tax benefits.
The candidate will have experience in the provision, tax compliance, and exposure to transfer pricing. Also, the position is supporting local businesses and finance teams on tax matters and audits. The ideal candidate strives to be a creative problem solver, organized, and self-motivated to accomplishing the company's tax matters.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for U.S. tax provision, tax compliance, planning, audits, and intercompany transactions tax document support:
- Prepare and/or review US GAAP tax provisions for affiliates in Canada, Europe, and Australia.
- Prepare and/or review of US international information reporting returns such as 5471, 8865, 8858, and 8621, GILTI calculations, E&P calculations, and other ad hoc projects.
- Manage and work with local foreign teams to ensure timely filing of foreign income tax returns.
- Prepare and/or review Canadian income tax and/or information returns, reports, transfer pricing supporting documentation, if needed.
- Ensure that new developments in tax are conveyed to the appropriate people in the company and that processes are developed to ensure that the company is in compliance with laws and regulations.
- Assist in responding to queries from internal/external/government auditors.
- Support global tax planning and process improvement initiatives, as well as other tax related matters on an ad hoc basis.
- Partner with outside advisors to document and defend significant cross-border transactions
- Experience training, developing, and fostering the professional growth of the international tax team.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or related field and CPA, J.D. and/or M.S. in tax a plus.
- Five to ten years working in the corporate tax function at a publicly traded company and/or a tax advisory firm
- Experience in preparing US international compliance reporting requirements (Forms 5471, 8858, 8865, and other forms.).
- Motivation to learn about federal and multi-state taxation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment and manage and coordinate assigned projects independently.

Work closely with partners, managers, and staff to integrate efficient standard operating procedures and practice development skills using a team approach to client service. - Bachelor's degree in accounting. MST is a plus

- Bachelor's degree in accounting. MST is a plus

- Active CPA license required

QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years previous public accounting experience with a strong concentration in tax including corporate, partnership, individual, trusts and estate planning, and resolving complex tax issues.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Working knowledge of various accounting software
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work effectively with all the internal team and clients.
- CPA designation or law degree is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interact closely with clients and firm team members to provide innovative and proactive individual and business tax planning, consulting, and compliance services in a timely and effective manner.
- Specialization and experience in both individual and business tax returns, with concentration in flow through entities.
- Ensure complete client and team satisfaction through open communication, managing deadlines and proactively sharing tax savings strategies.
- Work closely with Partners, Directors, Senior Managers and staff on client management, professional development, and business development activities
- Supervise and lead associate and senior associate team members to manage responsibilities and deadlines on client engagements
- Develop skills to attract new clients and market the company's services and products and facilitate expansion of business with existing clients
- Keep abreast of any legislative or professional changes, and consulting with clients on potential implications.
- Participate in Client development through networking events and professionally represent the firm in the business community
- Display continual commitment to the Firm's Culture and Values and Client Service Principles
- Demonstrate a level of communication skills, intuitive skills and resourcefulness that encourages others to follow and develop the same skills

- Bachelor's degree in accounting. MST is a plus
- At least 8 yearâs experience in public accounting; Big 4 or large regional firm experience a plus.
- Active CPA license required
- Advanced technical and tax accounting skills in the areas of corporate and/or partnership taxation with a consulting mindset
- Proven leadership skills in managing client service teams and multiple projects in a fast-paced and interactive team environment to meet and exceed client expectations.

We are looking for a Tax Manager to lead all tax activities of C3 Industries while partnering with the CFO to drive meaningful value for the company.
In this role you willâŚ.
- Partner with the CFO to maximize federal and state income tax deductions as they pertain to 280E and communicate pertinent accounting treatment updates.
- Work with outside tax consultants to calculate and pay quarterly estimated taxes.
- Co-lead 409a and 805 engagements with the CFO.
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly and annual sales and excise tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timely payment
- Periodically review sales and excise tax calculations and ensure updates in the company's point-of-sale system.
- Ensure real property tax assessments are accurate and current.
- Lead filing of annual personal property tax returns in various jurisdictions.
- Lead asset segregation engagements.
- Team with accounting to develop accurate tax accruals for monthly financial reporting.
- Assist finance with cash projections for all cash tax outlays.
- Partner with legal and compliance on licensing related tax matters.
- Manage all company tax account profiles and registrations.
- Stay current on federal and state tax developments in the cannabis industry.
Skills and experience you have...
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required; five years of experience in a technical tax role; three years of project management experience
- Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot independently and proactively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and strong computer skills; advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven experience in a project manager role.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to develop and implement operational best practices.

Work closely with partners, managers, and staff to integrate efficient standard operating procedures and practice development skills using a team approach to client service. CORE JOB DUTIES
- Manage and oversee the timely and accurate preparation, submission and payment of US and Canadian indirect tax returns on a monthly basis.
- Manage and oversee the timely and accurate preparation, submission and payment of state and local real and personal property tax returns on a monthly basis.
- Oversee and manage the process of customer tax exemptions and the corresponding tax exemption certificates.
- Responsible for managing and implementing indirect tax technology to drive automation within the tax processes. Research, evaluate, and recommend to management any technology enablers.
- Manage all indirect tax jurisdictional correspondence, including audits, notices, refund claims, etc.
- Review monthly tax account reconciliation and journal entry for posting. Analyze applicable accounting treatment and reserve allocations.
- Collaborate with procurement, business operations, IT, and various functional teams to integrate sales tax requirements into their workflow and develop standard operating procedures.
- Research and analyze complex tax laws and provide determination of tax treatments arising from business initiatives.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar discipline
- 5+ years tax relevant experience in a public accounting firm and/or within the tax function of a multinational company
- Experience with indirect tax management software is a requirement, experience with implementing such software is a plus
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel
- Excellent tax technical research skills and proficient with tax research software

About This Role
Every position at Common Citizen from seed to sale, is contributing to our mission to serve our fellow citizens of Michigan with the highest quality, safest cannabis product through our highly individualized and education-oriented provisioning centers. The Tax Manager will be accountable for all employment taxes, assisting with tax planning activities, tax compliance, and tax audits. You will coordinate and facilitate activities related to all thingâs payroll tax, including analysis, payments, reconciliations, computations, and tax form compliance & submission.
Responsibilities
Outlined below is what we see you doing at this point in time. We are a fast-growing company looking for people that are excited to grow along with us. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Facilitate and manage the preparation and review company federal tax returns and the accurate, timely filing of all tax forms in conjunction with outside tax preparer.
- Ensure accurate, timely filing of consolidated federal, state, and local income tax returns and other business-related filings.
- Find and implement opportunities for process improvement in company tax procedures.
- Develop and implement strategic tax planning for all necessary federal and state taxes.
- Help build-out standard operating procedures for tax team â oversee additional staff once hired.
- Plan for and develop overall return calendar and coordinate timing and inputs.
- Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.
- Manage and facilitate all aspects of tax audits.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and the tax team and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation.
- Provide support with various internal audits and special tax related projects.
- Review tax returns and quarterly/yearly tax projections.
The Experience You Bring and the Skills we Need:
- We are looking for a candidate with 7+ years of experience - prior public accounting experience is a requisite. Big 4 experience preferred.
- Candidates must have a current CPA license - masterâs degree in an accounting discipline is preferred.
- Extensive corporate, state and local tax and partnership tax knowledge is a must.
- Experience implementing/formalizing tax controls.
- We are looking for candidates with strong analytical skills, with , and an ability to research complex technical accounting matters.
- Experience drafting technical accounting position papers is required.
- Strong experience with a variety of tax operations and ability to drive process improvements.
- Strong ability to utilize project management and accounting best practices to organize and prioritize tasks and the tasks of other tax team members.
- Ability to work well independently as well as the ability to work well with stakeholders and communicate the benefits of tax initiatives.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, in addition to excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with various tax software and tools.

This role is a preparer role that will develop into a manager role of the U.S. tax group as the industry grows. The successful candidate will have substantial experience in domestic, state and local, and international laws and regulations. In this role, you will support acquisitions, disposition, and global tax planning to maximizing future tax benefits.
The candidate will have experience in the provision, tax compliance, and exposure to transfer pricing. Also, the position is supporting local businesses and finance teams on tax matters and audits. The ideal candidate strives to be a creative problem solver, organized, and self-motivated to accomplishing the company's tax matters.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for U.S. tax provision, tax compliance, planning, audits, and intercompany transactions tax document support:
- Preparation or review of quarterly and annual tax provisions for Tilray's U.S. entities
- Manage worldwide income tax accounts, including account analyses, roll forwards, worldwide effective tax rate, and reconciliations
- Model tax impact and properly reflect changes for accounting pronouncements, accounting standards updates, federal, state, and international income tax law changes
- Preparation of U.S. federal (Forms 1120, 5471, 8858, 8865), state and local tax returns, sales and use tax returns, and other miscellaneous returns, including detailed supporting schedules and work papers
- Preparation of quarterly estimated tax payments and extension payments
- Assist with special projects such as implantation of tax planning, provision & compliance processes, analysis of income tax consequences of transactions, acquisitions, and divestitures, and projects relating to other business initiatives
- Manage the preparation of rest-of-world income tax returns
- Assist with federal and state income tax notices/audit requests, be the point of contact for tax authorities
- Experience training, developing, and fostering the professional growth of the U.S. tax team
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or related field and CPA, J.D. and/or M.S. in tax a plus
- Five to ten years working in the corporate tax function at a publicly-traded company and/or a tax advisory firm
- Experience in preparing federal (Form 1120), state, and composite income tax returns and familiarity with international compliance reporting requirements (Forms 5471, 8858, 8865, and other forms.)
- Motivation to learn about federal and multi-state taxation
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment and manage and coordinate assigned projects independently
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
