WHAT YOU’LL DO: RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review of tax returns for Individuals, Partnerships, S and C-corporations
- Advise clients on a full spectrum of partnership tax services, including planning, research, compliance, allocations and general transactional activities
- Assist with new business development, extended service and tax issue recognition for existing clients
- Manage partnership client needs with respect to tax services and federal and state tax compliance
- Review or conduct high level research of complex or emerging tax issues and prepare memorandums to support conclusions

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Masters in Taxation preferred
- CPA license required
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in public accounting in taxation or equivalent experience.

QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years previous public accounting experience with a strong concentration in tax including corporate, partnership, individual, trusts and estate planning, and resolving complex tax issues.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Working knowledge of various accounting software
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work effectively with all the internal team and clients.
- CPA designation or law degree is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interact closely with clients and firm team members to provide innovative and proactive individual and business tax planning, consulting, and compliance services in a timely and effective manner.
- Specialization and experience in both individual and business tax returns, with concentration in flow through entities.
- Ensure complete client and team satisfaction through open communication, managing deadlines and proactively sharing tax savings strategies.

- Keep abreast of any legislative or professional changes, and consulting with clients on potential implications.

This role requires the oversight of multiple client service teams and the proven ability to plan, direct, execute and complete tax projects and compliance efforts across a variety of clients. Will economically and efficiently manage projects including billing and accounts receivable responsibilities. Conduct review of federal and state income tax returns for corporate and partnership clients. Develop and maintain strong client relationships. Provide innovative tax planning strategies and compliance expertise to clients; perform research and prepare/review technical tax memorandum. Understand and manage firm risk on tax services performed. A senior manager is a critical member of the local office team, providing thought leadership to the partner group while actively participating in recruiting, developing and mentoring staff and managers. Manage, develop, and mentor staff/managers on projects and assess performance through formal periodic reviews and informal feedback. Work closely with partners, managers, and staff to integrate efficient standard operating procedures and practice development skills using a team approach to client service. Perform other job-related responsibilities as necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting. MST is a plus
- At least 8 year’s experience in public accounting; Big 4 or large regional firm experience a plus.
- Active CPA license required
- Advanced technical and tax accounting skills in the areas of corporate and/or partnership taxation with a consulting mindset
- Proven leadership skills in managing client service teams and multiple projects in a fast-paced and interactive team environment to meet and exceed client expectations.
- Ability to mentor and develop tax staff and managers
- Cannabis industry experience is a plus

Manage, develop, and mentor staff/managers on projects and assess performance through formal periodic reviews and informal feedback. Work closely with partners, managers, and staff to integrate efficient standard operating procedures and practice development skills using a team approach to client service. Perform other job-related responsibilities as necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting. MST is a plus
- At least 8 year’s experience in public accounting; Big 4 or large regional firm experience a plus.
- Active CPA license required
- Advanced technical and tax accounting skills in the areas of corporate and/or partnership taxation with a consulting mindset
- Proven leadership skills in managing client service teams and multiple projects in a fast-paced and interactive team environment to meet and exceed client expectations.
- Ability to mentor and develop tax staff and managers
- Cannabis industry experience is a plus

Responsibilities
- Prepare, supervise and review complex income tax returns for multi-state operators, dispensaries, processors, cultivators and ancillary cannabis companies in both the recreational and medical space.
- Research and solve for complex tax issues, including IRC §280E, and present creative, forward-thinking solutions
- Analyze financial information and participate in the forecast process
- Lead all phases of an assignment including, strategy, research, planning, compliance and thorough review/analysis
- Respond in a timely and professional manner to communications from the IRS and other taxing authorities
- Help cultivate a strong team and culture, which may include hiring, training and mentoring young professionals
- Develop strong working relationships with clients built around a clear understanding of their businesses, industry and challenges
Position Requirements & Essential Skills
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or closely related field; Masters Degree and CPA license a plus
- 4+ years of relevant public accounting experience
- Knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code, including IRC §280E and State Tax Laws for the cannabis industry
- Committed to staying ahead of the curve on industry trends, regulations and resources, and growing professionally
- Technical proficiency with software programs such as Prosystem fx Tax, Prosystem fx Engagement, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to multi-task, problem-solve and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and results-based environment
- Must be able to work both in a team and independently
- Must possess leadership and relationship-building skills in order to further drive the firm’s growth and success
