As the controller you must have solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills. You will play a vital role in our company’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with the law and accuracy in accounting through performing general financial transactions, monitoring bookkeeping activities and conducting regular audits to make sure documents, expenditures and investments are accurate. To be successful in this role, you’ll have in-depth knowledge of bookkeeping, payroll auditing and budgeting procedures. You should also be able to monitor daily transactions and recommend ways we can improve our financial health.
Responsibilities:
- Internal Financial Statement preparation including Balance Sheet & Income Statement
- Variance Analysis and commentary for monthly financials as well as budget and forecasting
- Prepare monthly Journal entries including accruals and reoccurring entries
- Deposit and reconcile cash consistently
- Manage and report on cash flow
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Provide oversight on invoicing and billing process
- Run Internal payroll
- Responding to financial inquiries by gathering and interpreting data
- Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
- Maintain and update procedures as they relate to the home office including annual business License renewal, personal property review, monthly filing of excise taxes etc.
- Assist in improving and documenting processes
- Manage an offshore team to support invoicing and A/R
- Provide external users with relevant financial information
- Manage professional relationships with bankers and brokers
- Any additional requests needed as related to corporate financials
Requirements:
- BA/BS Accounting or Finance
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles with significant financial statement preparation experience
- High level/advanced Excel skill is a must
- Strong analytical, interpretation skills and attention to detail
- Strong financial analysis experience
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required
- Ability to set own priorities and to manage own time to meet deadlines

Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on corporate, partnership, individual and trust and estate tax services
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions a plus;
- Oversee the calculation and analysis of proprietary tax strategies for clients
- Continue to develop relationships with clients, including involvement in networking and business development activities
- Provide clients with in-depth industry knowledge
- Ensure that Seniors and Staff are up to date on current tax practices and changes in tax law
- Provide both leadership and supervision to Tax Seniors and Staff
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required; Master of Tax preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience
- Previous experience in a public accounting firm preferred
- CPA or EA required upon hire in your state of employment
- Proficient in corporate, partnership and individual taxation
- Prior experience working with large, multi-state, internationally active middle-market clients preferred

The Controller is designing a work-flow process for their clients and assigning responsibilities between themselves and the client’s accounting staff. The Controller should be able to discuss and explain a wide scope of accounting and tax concepts.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare full financial statements according to periodic delivery schedule.
- Evaluate the accuracy and completeness of financial statements prepared by others.
- Complete or cause to be completed the monthly close processes of reconciliation.
- Oversee the work of client’s accounting staff. Communicate methodology and deadlines.
- Oversee State and Local Tax filings and compliance.
- Improve automation of client’s systems through recommending and implementing modern accounting functions, apps, and processes.
Requirements:
- Quickbooks experience (at least three years) QBO experience preferred
- Bookkeeping experience (at least three years)
- Payroll entry experience required.
- Excise filing experience required.
- Full Charge Bookkeeping or Controller work experience preferred.
- At least two years of public accounting experience preferred

GPL Tax and Accounting is looking for a Client Excellence Coordinator to join our team in Kirkland, WA office.
As part of our operations team you will serve as an important part of our organization. You will provide high quality service by assisting the tax and accounting department members with organizing client information and responding to and anticipating client service requests so we can better service our clients and continue to provide the high quality work that we are known for. Coordinators will work both internally with our accountants and externally with clients and will be given the responsibility to learn the cadence and expectations of the service level we need to provide. The ability to think independently, take initiative and perform the duties with a high degree of accuracy is essential to succeeding in this role.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Contacting clients for missing information required to complete their tax/accounting work
- Triaging incoming client information, assessing for completeness and utilizing appropriate software systems to accurately maintain information
- Coordinating deliverables to client
- Working with client investment advisors to ensure required information is obtained for client work
- Assisting in the coordination of outsourced tax returns
- Maintaining client contact information and instructions
- Scheduling and email correspondence on behalf of professionals
- Coordinating incoming prospects through a sales pipeline
- Assisting with facilitate new client onboarding
- Maintaining a high-quality client journey
- Coordinating intradepartmental communication
- Coordinating meetings internally and externally
Qualifications
- One or more years of client service, accounting, financial or law industry experience. Tax and accounting experience preferred.
- Minimum of an Associate degree or equivalent work experience
- Extremely high attention to detail.
- Immediate proficiency with Microsoft Office. Tax software and CRM experience preferred.
- Demonstrate ability to learn and work with various software programs with relative ease
- Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills
- Time management and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple responsibilities and changing priorities
- Ability to analyze situations critically and objectively to produce the best possible outcome
- Escalate operational and client issues as needed
- Customer service focus and ability to multitask
- Discretion when handling confidential information
Due to the nature of our business, we do experience periods of peak workload, typically from January to April 15th and September to October 15th, with busier periods being closer to deadline dates. A requirement of this role is the ability to work occasional overtime during this peak workload period and that may include a partial Saturday(s).

A CFO Consultant typically works with companies with $5MM and higher annual sales, providing a wide scope of consulting services encompassing all the traditional responsibilities of a Chief Financial Officer. Common areas of consulting include: entity types, accrual vs cash, revenue recognition, budgeting and pro forma, option plans and Cap tables, cost accounting and month end close processes.
Duties and responsibilities:

Prepare full financial statements according to periodic delivery schedule.
- Evaluate the accuracy and completeness of financial statements prepared by others.
- Complete or cause to be completed the monthly close processes of reconciliation.
- Consult with clients on an ad hoc basis according to their questions and needs.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience as Controller or CFO.
- Must show understanding and experience in revenue recognition, option plans and Cap tables, cost accounting
- Professional certification such as CMA or CPA.
- Controller or CFO work experience.
- Accounting or Finance bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

GPL Tax and Accounting is looking for a Controller to join our team in Kirkland, WA office.
The controller provides all of the services of a Full Charge Bookkeeper including the complete reconciliation of the full Balance Sheet. This includes the transactional entries of sales, accounts receivable, payments and deposits, bills, bill payments, and accounts payable, payroll journal entries, state excise filings and bank reconciliation procedures.
The Controller is designing a work-flow process for their clients and assigning responsibilities between themselves and the client’s accounting staff. The Controller should be able to discuss and explain a wide scope of accounting and tax concepts.
Responsibilities:

Prepare full financial statements according to periodic delivery schedule.
- Evaluate the accuracy and completeness of financial statements prepared by others.
- Complete or cause to be completed the monthly close processes of reconciliation.
- Oversee the work of client’s accounting staff. Communicate methodology and deadlines.
- Oversee State and Local Tax filings and compliance.
- Improve automation of client’s systems through recommending and implementing modern accounting functions, apps, and processes.
Requirements:
- Quickbooks experience (at least three years) QBO experience preferred
- Bookkeeping experience (at least three years)
- Payroll entry experience required.
- Excise filing experience required.
- Full Charge Bookkeeping or Controller work experience preferred.
- At least two years of public accounting experience preferred
- You have a strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships capable of building relationships and working effectively with teams in remote locations
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience in accounting management roles - a plus
