The Manufacturing Softgel Specialist is the subject matter expert (SME) responsible for implementing and maintaining processes related to the manufacturing and preparation of final dosage forms derived from therapeutic cannabis. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Assesses, updates, and implements new processes, including best practices.
- Oversight manufacturing process of therapeutic cannabis-based products.
- Reviews, revises, and maintains operating procedures and implements training to the department to ensure quality control.

This position is responsible for assisting the Production Specialist in Oil Inventory and other staff with ingredient preparation, production, production clean-up, area setup, product packaging, cleaning and dishwashing. Will work primarily in the production of certain wellness products and assist with other products. Must work well with other production staff to complete daily production tasks. Follows directives of the Wellness Production Lead.
POSSIBLE JOB DUTIES (not limited to)
- Daily production functions incl. prepping, cleaning, mixing, and portioning products
- Accurately records and labels daily production
- Check in and put away deliveries in storeroom/fridge/freezer as needed
- Perform heavy cleaning, such as ovens, equipment, etc, when needed
- Ensure dishes and posts and pans are washed after shift, when needed
- Sweep, mop area, general cleaning

Position Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform extraction material prep via:
o Grinding plant material
o Loading extraction columns
- Perform plant material extraction via the X-Act X-Tract CO2 Extractor system for various end-product types and maintain continuous supply chain for them.
- Perform post-processing tasks including, but not limited to:
o Winterization
o Color remediation
o Decarbing
o Terpene distillation
o Cannabinoid distillation
o Rotovaping
o Vacuum filtration
- Perform routine maintenance to lab equipment including, but not limited to:
o Vacuum Pump oil change (every 6 months)
o Rotovap waterbath change (every 2 weeks)
o Storage Glassware Cleaning (every day)
o Polyscience Chiller (as needed)
- Deep clean and upkeep of vacuum oven within CO2 lab (as needed)
- Coordinate for weekly run material priorities with the Inventory Compliance Specialist and the BHO Manufacturing Specialist to ensure optimized efficiency for both labs output
- Work in tandem with Brand Director and Inventory Compliance Specialist towards overall production goals to ensure the supply chain of CO2 extract products
- Coordinate with Kitchen Manufacturing Specialist regarding the demand for extracts that is required for continued supply to all edible product lines
- Maintain and oversee production tracking yield data and regularly upload to communal ShareDrive
The CO2 Manufacturing Specialist will work on the schedule of the facility during the course of onboarding and training (8am-4pm, M-F), but will be allowed flexibility in scheduling after the completion of the 90-day probation period, as long as production needs continue to be met.
On-the job training of specialized equipment and processes is provided during the onboarding.
Existing knowledge of cannabis products and how they are consumed/created is preferred, but not required to succeed. Additional knowledge bases of value can include such things as: market information related to our local vendors, cannabis culture trends, and the regulatory information around Alaska's cannabis laws.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Additional scientific background preferred.
- Experience in production lines, print shops, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, or logistics is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of Alaska's cannabis products, brands, cultivation/extraction methods, safe consumption practices, and a general familiarity with cannabis culture.
- A valid marijuana handler's permit for the State of Alaska.
- Familiarity with mechanical equipment, extraction equipment, printing and packaging concepts, basic spreadsheet tasks, and organization skills.
- Excellent analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.

Job Description
Xabis is seeking a self-motivated and systematic team member within a production facility in the medical marijuana industry. The individual needs to excel within an independent framework and communicate effectively with management and operational team members. The talented team member will be responsible for inventory tracking, production of finished phytopharmaceutical products, filling operations, packaging and labeling according to strict regulatory guidelines specific to the Texas Codes. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, excel under stress, and strive for efficient and timely reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Produces product formulations, batches based on different weight increments and final packaged products to consistent standards and quality, dictated by work orders.
- Keep a precise count of all packaged product and weight(s) of product used for an accurate end of day reconciliation of packaged inventory and remaining inventory
- Communicating inventory purchase requests when applicable.
- Packages and labels products according to strict regulatory requirements.
- Electronically convert packaged products in the state traceability system
- Ensures that all activities are performed safely and in strict accordance with company guidelines; maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
- Maintains legible and complete records of all production batches.
- Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service when needed.
- Exhibit competency in basic organizational skills, communication skills, mathematical skills and windows based operating software
- Collects all hazardous/non-hazardous waste generated by production processes and transfers to appropriate collection areas.
- Maintains clean and tidy manufacturing equipment and facility.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Education or GED required

JOB DESCRIPTION #1 –Production Specialist
Complement is seeking a highly motivated and capable individual to join our team. The position focuses on development, optimization, and troubleshooting of our recipes to ensure we recieve consistent production every time. The candidate must record all experiments conducted and advise on what procedures we should take to create a consistent product from beginning to end.
Responsibilities :
- Coordinate and perform line trials within production
- Identify, develop and validate manufacturing processes leveraging culinary knowledge to achieve productivity, quality and new product objectives.
- Demonstrates innovative design, development and execution of experiments.
- Develop parameters ensuring production process capabilities.
- Develop product and process specifications for new and/or existing products.
- Readily adapt to changing project needs; independently plan and execute experiments.
- Adheres to good laboratory conduct, documentation practices, and safety guidelines.
Skills Proficiencies:
- Knowledgeable in ingredient selection, formulation, processing equipment, and operating conditions.
- Extensive technical and theoretical knowledge of culinary and manufacturing processes.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make good decisions based on factual data, past experience, and common sense.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to interact with all cross functional teams

JOB SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Specialist I executes product manufacturing operations within a cannabis extraction and product manufacturing operation. They are primarily responsible for building consumer packaged goods and fulfilling supply demands. Duties include product formulations, packaging, inventory control, and distribution fulfillment. They work closely with the Operations Supervisor and Quality Analyst to ensure operations are executing according to the production schedules and Quality Assurance Program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures that all activities are performed safely and in strict accordance with company guidelines; maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
- Produces products to consistent standards and quality, dictated by quality assurance program and consistent with company goals.
- Manages manufacturing schedules and equipment needs, expediting goods on prioritized stock generations.
- Provides weekly reports to Operations Supervisor on turnaround time, just in time delivery system, downtime, production efficiencies, opportunities for improvement (OFI’s), and any other KPIs management requests.
- Supervises personnel related to the manufacturing department to ensure productivity, safety, compliance, and positive company culture.
- Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service when needed.
- Maintain inventory of finished goods, generates reports of inventory aging where appropriate.
- Upholds inventory of consumables and ingredients for production, submitting purchase requests when applicable.
- Assists in compliant packaging and labeling of products according to strict regulatory requirements, working directly with the Quality Analyst.
- Maintains complete records in the inventory management systems of all production batches.
- Collects all hazardous/non-hazardous waste generated by production processes and transfers to appropriate collection areas.
- Collaborates with team on edits/updates to procedures and operational documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years in a production, operations, or manufacturing role (or similar experience).
- 2+ years of direct supervisory experience of team of 3 or more individuals recommended.
- Certification, or related degree in manufacturing, engineering, or food production.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Responsive problem solver and action oriented.
- Strong team mentality.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Highly organized.
- Must pass an extensive background security check and must be able to obtain a local authority badge – prior to or at the time of hire.
- Possesses a proud work-ethic and enthusiasm to help grow the company culture.
REQUESTED SKILLS
- Experience in operating manufacturing equipment recommended.
- Experience working in a consumer packaged goods operation recommended.
- Mechanical proficiency on equipment recommended.
- Proficient using Microsoft office applications and ERP applications.
- Experience with ISO quality, safety systems, or similar certification process a plus.
- Experience in the food and/or pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
