ROLE SUMMARY
The Director of Operations for Cannabis processing will lead development and implementation of overall operations and business practices. The position oversees and manages the daily processing, production, compliance, facility operations and staff. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Position Objective:

Essential Functions:

· Provide training and coaching, and lead by example to retain and motivate staff.

· Partner with the cultivation team to identify and implement new process flows and to achieve designated objectives and deliver higher business results.

Requirements:
· Minimum 7-10 years of operations experience in CPG manufacturing or agriculture
· Minimum 4-5 years of experience in Operations Management

Summary

The Director of Operations will be responsible for leading all extracting, manufacturing, packaging, and logistics activities to assure that EPIC Labs delivers high quality medical cannabis products while maintaining the most efficient product cost structure. This position is responsible for all day-to-day operations, including purchasing, production planning, manufacturing and shipping of quality products with continuous quality and process improvements to ensure attainment of operational goals, tactics, and priorities that drive business results with a focus on quality. Leadership & Duties
- Establish, review, and manage processes and production schedules related to extraction, manufacturing, packaging, and delivery
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Product in the planning of production schedule, measurement and analysis of results, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Measure, analyze, and report relevant KPIs and operational metrics to implement continuous improvement processes
- Responsible for ensuring quality, quantity, and cost-effective finished products
- Assume a leadership role in facility to effectively coach, empower and support operations teams
- Ensure operational priorities, processes and procedures are communicated and understood
- Establish partnerships with cultivators for procuring high-quality raw materials
- Responsible for any additional Manufacturing that occur within the facility (kitchens, etc.), SQF and food safety experience necessary
- Work with Compliance Manager to monitor and maintain proper manufacturing compliance controls with all federal/state regulations
- Provide a high level of customer service both internally and externally
Qualifications
- Bachelors’ degree in operations, engineering, mathematics, business, science, chemistry or equivalent industry
- 5+ years' experience in manufacturing, cannabis, and/or logistics is a plus
- Familiarity with extraction methods as well as the purification, separation and isolation of various compounds of cannabis
- A high-touch, credible, visible leader who could establish instant credibility and inspire the team
- Demonstrated track record in team building and driving operational efficiencies
- Outstanding people skills, organizational skills and a passionate leadership style
- Start-up experience, a plus
- Logistics and warehousing experience
- Lean/Six Sigma methodology preferred
- Retail/CPG experience highly preferred
- Team player with the ability to gain consensus through collaboration and open dialogue
- A sense of urgency, high energy, and hands-on approach
- Experience in the cannabis industry and METRC software a plus

RESPONSIBILITIES
Executing under the direction of the GM of Cultivation on the operational needs of the cultivation, processing and manufacturing
- Administering operational management teams ensuring collaboration and cross- departmental efficiencies for Cultivation, Extraction/Processing and MIPs Production
- Plan and monitor the day-to-day operations
- Provide day-to-day leadership and management to support the mission and core values of the company

- Implement standardized sourcing strategy concentrating on high volume procurement of cultivation, processing and packaging supplies
- Solve personal problems, handle inter-departmental communication and work with Human Resources and Management to help build a culture based on the company’s core value system and commitment
- Create work schedules and flow for both weekday and weekend work allowing for adequate coverage for regular and holiday schedules.
- Work with Human Resources to develop training programs including onboarding and continued quarterly/annual training needs.
- Reporting on KPI’s developed in the grow room. Analyzing data and reporting trends to the GM of Cultivation and senior management
- Administering the day to day operations of Cultivation, Extraction/Processing and MIP Production
- Act as the main point of contact for security, and request all changes of security detail or
- Oversee the maintenance and facilities personnel upholding the highest levels of cleanliness and sterilization of the administrative and common areas of the building
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or relevant field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing product, staff and resources in a large-scale commercial operation at a management level
- Sound understanding of the financial principles applicable to effective planning, cost control and budgeting of the crop growth operation
- Leadership, including delegation and the ability to perform well under pressure
- Decisive, with ability to exercise independent judgment
- Highly developed interpersonal and internal customer/vendor relationship management skills
- Highly developed Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel
