The Senior Cost accountant is responsible for helping to plan, budget and monitor performance, set standard unit costs and recommend appropriate cost-saving opportunities. This person must be personable, proactive and able to interact and communicate with all levels.
Essential Functions:
- Collecting and validating data to determine both fixed and variable costs of business activity such as rent, raw material purchases, inventory and labor
- Help in Building of BOMs for over 200 product SKUS from scratch
- Analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost
- Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
- Recording cost information for use in controlling expenditures
- Recommending cost-saving options
- Performing ongoing reconciliations of various cost reports against ERP software systems to ensure accuracy
- Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services
- Initiating the month-end closing and reporting processes, which they in turn submit to management
- Performing physical inventory inspections and monitoring inventory management information systems

Qualifications:
- 4 year Undergraduate Degree required

Fluresh is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join our finance and accounting team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for the development on standard costing and will work to implement or improve the financial systems and data used to support cultivation and manufacturing processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of a bill of materials for all products, as well as implementing cost standards for materials, labor, and overhead
- Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided to determine effects on cost
- Validate the cost of goods sold as part of a standard costing system during the close process
- Assist with inventory observations and cycle count programs with facility managers, suppliers, and external auditors
- Work with the Controller to development financial models for each facility
- Assist wtih the month-end & year-end close process
- Investigate significant trends/variances for cost reduction regarding material, labor, overhead, and other types of costs related to manufacturing products
- Assist with implementation of the ERP and other reporting tools
- Work cross-functionally with operations on various projects designed to increase through-put, decrease costs and increase efficiencies.
- Understand and articulate operational issues and their impact in order to assist with operational decision making
- Evaluate and improve business controls impacting manufacturing and inventory
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of production/harvest cycle planner and other cultivation and manfucturing KPIs
- Work cross-functionally with company departments and external partners

Required Experience, Education, and Skills
- 1 to 2 years of cost accounting experience is a MUST
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time. Travel is initially limited to Michigan.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

- CPA strongly preferred

Job Title: Senior Cost Accountant Analyst

Job Description: This position is to manage inventory accounting and cost accounting processes. This will include standard costing, costing analysis, and compliance with GAAP reporting requirements as it relates to biological assets, inventory, and COGS. The candidate for this position will have extensive experience in understanding overhead cost, burden rates, company allocations, work centers, routings, bill of materials, and production and work orders. There is an important emphasis on analyzing COGS, inventory and production variances, and leading improvements, as well as understanding ERP flows through the company’s general ledger.
Responsibilities:
- Manage month-end close process in terms of inventory and cost of goods sold across the Western Region of Arizona. As well as ensure the preparation of the month-end calculations for inventory and biological assets
- Work cross-functionally with operations and IT for the determining of biomass and inventory reconciliations and to review and dispose of obsolete inventory, and other projects as necessary
- Work with the financial reporting team for the impact of the inventory and biological assets on the financial statements and financial disclosures
- Review standard and actual costs and work to improve and implement standard cost estimates
- Obtain a strong understanding of the company’s ERP system including functionality, costing processes, and integration with the general ledger

Position Summary:
Glorious Cannabis is one of the largest wholesale flower producers in Michigan. We’ve expanded from 50 employees in 2020 to 150 employees now.

Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for the development on standard costing and will work to implement or improve the financial systems and data used to support cultivation and manufacturing processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of a bill of materials for all products, as well as implementing cost standards for materials, labor, and overhead

- Validate the cost of goods sold as part of a standard costing system during the close process
- Assist with inventory observations and cycle count programs with facility managers, suppliers, and external auditors
- Work with the Controller to development financial models for each facility
- Assist wtih the month-end & year-end close process
- Investigate significant trends/variances for cost reduction regarding material, labor, overhead, and other types of costs related to manufacturing products
- Assist with implementation of the ERP and other reporting tools
- Work cross-functionally with operations on various projects designed to increase through-put, decrease costs and increase efficiencies.
- Understand and articulate operational issues and their impact in order to assist with operational decision making
- Evaluate and improve business controls impacting manufacturing and inventory
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of production/harvest cycle planner and other cultivation and manfucturing KPIs

Required Experience, Education, and Skills

We are looking for an experienced Senior Cost Accountant that will perform daily analysis for the cultivation and processing of our plants and finished products. The Senior Cost Accountant will be an integral member of our management team. This position requires strong technology skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems. - Strong understanding of accounting theory, internal controls, and accounting for multiple entities
- Expert in computer skills including ERP systems (Sage 100, Quickbooks Enterprise or Equivalent)

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Plan, study, and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor
- Analyze data collected and record results
- Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided to determine effects on cost
- Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
- Record cost information for use in controlling expenditures
- Analyze audits of costs and prepare reports
- Make estimates of new and proposed product costs
- Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services
- Maintain cost accounting excel files
- Assist in month end close of the General Ledger
- Assist with physical inventories and monitor cycle count program
- Reconcile finished goods inventories
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business-related field, Master’s Degree or CPA certification, preferred
- 5+ years experience in cost accounting within CPG or manufacturing
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office required

Our Moore/Oklahoma City office is currently seeking a bright, organized individual to join our cannabis team as a Senior Cost Accountant. This Senior Cost Accountant position will be primarily responsible for the following:
- Collecting and analyzing data about a company’s operational costs
- Setting standard costs of farmed goods
- Carrying out cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis, including for small businesses
- Establishing costs of business processes such as administration, labor, shipping, etc.
- Performing account reconciliations
- Preparing financial reports and presenting them to management
- Managing the company’s balance sheet and accounting books
- Supporting other company accountants with invoicing
- Submitting various daily/monthly financial analysis reports to company owners
- Additional duties as assigned
Daily tasks include contacting vendors and other employees via email, phone, and regular mail to request documentation necessary to complete tasks.
Required skills to excel in this position include:
