TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Section Grower is responsible for all aspects of growing and horticultural operations in a designated section of WinGen’s facility in Mustang Ridge, Texas. Primary areas of responsibility are:

Smith Gardens is a Wholesale Nursery company that is headquartered in Bellingham Washington, and is family owned for over 100 years with facilities in three states.
The Aurora site opened in 1997, and is located just 30 minutes south of Portland, Oregon in the beautiful Willamette Valley. The site has 37 acres of greenhouse and 3 acres of field space. In 2013, we added a 3-acre State-of-the-art glass greenhouse which has allowed the facility to re-purpose 40,000 gallons of water every day helping to reduce our carbon footprint.
JOB FUNCTION:
Responsible for daily irrigation, fertilization and misting of crops. Coordinate with Head Grower to determine crop cultural needs. Maintain environmental controls, assists with pest controls, sanitation of area, and crop layout.
JOB DUTIES:
- Responsible for 2-4 acres of greenhouse or 5-10 acres of field, or an area of 25,000 square feet of plugs and liners.
- Coordinates the work of 2-4 Irrigation Staff.
- Responsible for daily irrigation, fertilization and crop watering.
- Apply pesticides in a safe and effective manner.

Primary Responsibility

- Manage all aspects of crop growth in your section on a daily basis. These responsibilities include irrigation, chemical application, growth tracking, disease monitoring, and insect scouting.
- Assist in the execution of our weekly beneficial scouting program. IPM Manager will manage this program. Section growers will be trained to scout crops in an efficient and effect manner.
- Directly report all insect issues to the IPM manager and assist him in determining effective solutions to the problems.
- Assist in managing the environmental control program, taking note of all necessary changes that are being made and suggesting changes on a regular basis.
- Work alongside the Head Grower in determining which crops in your section are ready to be shipped, taking into account the targeted ready weeks for each product.
- Suggest actions to take in the future to assure that each crop is being grown correctly and finished properly.
- Seek to build upon your horticulture knowledge by regularly researching such topics. Section growers will be given as many opportunities as possible to gain expertise through trade shows and educational events.

JOB SUMMARY:

Looking for energetic persons to come and work at our ever-expanding, family-owned wholesale greenhouse operation located in Seagoville, Texas.
We are currently looking for a Section Grower, and Nursery-Growing experience is required. This is a full-time position and the applicant must have reliable transportation.
Preferred applicants must be willing to work outside in all weather and be accustomed to lifting, squatting and twisting with at least 40 pounds.
During the spring and fall season expect to work 50-55 hours a week on average. In off seasons, summer and winter, crew members average 45 hours a week. We are legally a farm so all Agriculture laws apply to our operation.
Job Summary:
The Section Leader will oversee a section of plant, supervise a team and work closely the with Assistant Grower and Head Grower to maintain the quality of the plants and the goal of the nursery.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Supervise and manage 5-6 people per section
· Manage daily tasks given by the Grower; including plant quality, watering, plant moving, and weed control
· Assist in scouting for diseases and insects
· Able to work with other supervisors and managers
· Manage equipment for assigned section
· Collect information from the field and deliver to the grower
· Management of Irrigation in assigned section
· Management of Greenhouse Temperature
· Any additional duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications:
· Must be eligible to work in the United States and 18 years of age
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Previous experience managing a team
· 1 year or more of Greenhouse nursery experience

Section Grower Management Opportunity – Innovative, Growing Nursery in Dallas, Texas Area
We are seeking a Section Grower who has the desire to be part of a contemporary, collaborative, and inventive team committed to the highest standards of quality and service.
The Section Grower reports directly to the Head Grower. This position oversees Cultural workers, Pesticide Applicators, and Irrigation Technicians. During peak season, the Section Grower will directly supervise 20-25 associates. Plant cultural responsibility begins at potting and extends through harvest.
Key Responsibilities:
· Direct and supervise the cultural team to meet production timelines and sale forecast targets.
· Adapt all activities to support the established companywide KPI’s.

As Section Grower, you will contribute to the overall success of the organization by planning, organizing and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the perennial growing department to ensure the production of high quality plant material to meet sales and forecast needs as scheduled.
We are looking for a high energy, organized, experienced individual with excellent communication and multi-tasking skills. This role requires horticulture experience, pest and fertilizer knowledge and a passion for producing a top-quality product. The Section Grower must be dependable, flexible and reliable as this is an extremely important position. This position is part of the growing team and will require participation in the weekend / holiday work rotation for water and fertilization.
Key responsibilities for the Greenhouse Section Grower position:
- Use of accepted horticultural practices to grow high quality plants.

Produce and maintain inventory to meet production goals and shipping timelines for assigned crops. This includes scouting and treating plants as needed so shipping is not delayed because of growth or pest issues.
- Keep accurate and current records of scout reports and pesticide application.
- Pass all PDA/WPS inspections.

Maintain accurate records on current crop trials and their timing.
- Train and supervise grower assistants and seasonal greenhouse laborers.

Work collaboratively with the perennials Grow Team Lead to oversee proper grooming of perennial crops.
- Assist with the logistical layout of greenhouses/hoops for best crop culture and efficient pulling.
- Improve perennial crop quality, timing, and production efficiency by researching and experimenting with the use of PGRs, lighting at critical stages, crop specific micronutrient input schedules, and use of biological pest controls such as predatory mites.
- Pest / disease diagnosis and treatment, which includes chemical sprays and other treatments; must obtain PA Pesticide certification within 6 months.

Create and update plant database files; compile and track trial info and update database.

Qualifications for the Section Grower position:
- Degree in horticulture, floriculture or related field of study

Summary Responsible for the day-to-day management of an assigned section of plants.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
Responsible for learning and complying with all SOPs and regulations as it relates to cultivation operations.
Responsible for pruning, watering, pest and disease scouting, nutrient and water testing, recording and measuring plant data.
Maintain records of plant growth.
Meet or exceed production goals.
Maintain open communication with the cultivation and production team.
Any other duties assigned by cultivation team.
Job Skills & Qualifications:
Must be 21 years or older.
High school diploma required.
Must have a basic understanding of cannabis laws, rules and regulations set forth by the state and local authorities.
Fundamental knowledge, as well as the ability to be taught and guided in areas related to the cultivation process.
Work is performed inside greenhouse facilities exposed to cold and hot temperatures.
May require working rotating shifts with varied hours/days, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
A Section Grower at Skagit Horticulture is responsible for the care of his/her assigned crops including: water/fertility and media monitoring and management, control of environmental conditions of the crop, scouting for pests and diseases, application of routine pesticides, growth regulators and record keeping.
Responsibilities are as follows:
Water/Fertility and Media Management
- Determine irrigation needs, apply irrigation as needed
- Monitor fertilization levels of the crop and apply fertilizers as needed
- Routinely test media EC and pH levels, monitor crops for nutrient problems, and take appropriate actions.
Monitor Conditions of the Crop:
- Monitor environmental conditions to provide crops with best attainable environmental conditions through proper use of heating, cooling equipment and light management.
- Check crops for readiness for shipping or transplant and work with transplant personnel to have material ready for transplant on time.
Pest and Growth Regulator Management:
- Scout your area on a regular schedule for pest and disease issues,
- With advice of Grower, determine control measures for pest problems, apply routine pesticides
- Maintain crops within agreed upon standards with prompt and judicious use of PGR’s and cultural height control measures
- Maintain required records and see that worker protection standards are followed.
- Obtain and maintain Washington State Private Applicator status and stay current with new chemicals, application methods, and regulations
Weekend and holiday rotations:
- Cross train to assist in coverage of propagation or stock areas for weekends and holidays.
Space Management:
- Work with Grower and Move Supervisor to find the best possible space available for crops
- Keep crop consolidated and promptly dispose of substandard plants

- Monitor and adjust the nutritional program based on soil test results and plant growth requirements.
- Maintain pruning procedures, schedules, and spacing of plants in a timely fashion. Assess results of pruning and spacing for continuous improvement.
- Maintain a schedule of herbicide applications.
- Perform special projects, as assigned.
Requirements:
- A degree in Horticulture or relevant experience is necessary for consideration.
- High level of organizational skills with specific ability to prioritize activities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Some proficiency with Excel and other programs.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Assist, follow implement, delegate and carry out tasks involved in growing of assigned crops i.e.; Spring Annuals, Hanging Baskets, Summer Annuals, Fall Crops and Perennials. Responsible for insuring all assistant growers are trained in carrying out assigned responsibilities in a consistent manner in area of responsibility. Is involved in day to day operation of facility and can point out areas of improvement. Includes growing specific crops in area of responsibility and can include transplanting, irrigating, propagation, record keeping, and other crop requirements. Safety Committee administration. Training Implementation and follow through with subordinate staff. Management, supervisory and people skills. Supervise, train, and delegate to other employees working in your area of responsibility. Manage other people’s day as well as your own.

9. Work with Head Grower/Production Manager on present 52 week production schedule in your crop sections and other section grower’s area. Implement and enhance it through communications.
10. Take notes of crops. Delegate tasks to assistants, schedule periodic review and change with production manager.
11. Job requires excellent training and people skills and employee must be able to interact with many departments professionally and effectively.

JOB SUMMARY: Correctly perform the cultural requirements needed for each crop in such a way
to produce quality plants, on a consistent basis, with minimal losses, and as efficiently as possible.
Maintain the growing area to meet the sanitary and organizational standards of the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and accomplish objectives with
minimal supervision. IE- Performs daily walkthroughs to create and then follow
daily action plans. Correctly cares for crops as directed by supervisors and care
sheets. Correctly records work on documentation sheets.
2. Accurately judges watering needs of the crops with minimal instruction after
training period.
3. Accurately waters crops using hoses, booms, sprinklers or other automated
devices in order to avoid the extremes of too dry or too wet for each crop. Repeated
bending, pulling and lifting are required to accomplish this function.
4. Accurately report status of all assigned jobs with minimal supervision.
5. Mixes and applies correct fertilizer at correct rate consistently with minimal
instruction. This involves lifting 25lb bags from the ground to above waist level.
6. Keep work areas clean. This involves utilizing an industrial power washer, lifting
trays, pulling carts and tossing containers of plants.
7. Effectively scout for insect, disease or virus in our crops after training.
8. Mixes and applies pesticides as needed wearing all appropriate PPE including
spray suits and respirators while using high pressure sprayers or other spray
equipment as a member of the spray team or in an assigned area.
9. Responsible to apply bio controls as assigned.

4. Actively contribute to the continued success of the company by expressing new ideas that

PHYSICAL ASPECTS:
1. Bulk of the job is spent standing or walking, bending to the ground and reaching
overhead, pulling carts on 4 wheel castors weighing over 200 lbs.
2. Lifting a minimum of 25 lbs.
3. Must pass respirator “fit” test.
4. Must pass respirator evaluation to be eligible for spray team.
5. Employee will be exposed to the sun and/or high intensity lights.
6. Employee will work in a wet environment where clothes and footwear can become
saturated.

A Section Grower is responsible for the scheduling, tracking and management of a designated section of a wide variety of blooming plants. Hours vary throughout the year based on growing seasons, full time benefits offered, and blooming annual plant knowledge required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Controls plant growth, potting, and cutting plants for sale
- Assists in determining the types and quantities of horticultural plants to be grown based on budget and projected sales volume
- Manages the watering and planting of plants within a designated section
- Develops weekly schedule for the greenhouse staff according to their employment status
- Works closely with the Wholesale Division Operations Manager to develop plans for seasonal crops
- Determines plant placement and organization
- Monitors and controls greenhouse environments (i.e. climate control)
- Accurately records production data
- Ensures that all planting meets quality expectations
- Manages chemical planning, application, recording, and inventory alongside other section growers
- Applies pesticides and growth regulators to crops within a designated area
- Interviews potential employees
- Manages a team of greenhouse workers (training, task delegation, performance documentation etc.)
