What you will do:
This position is full time 39 hours/week position. The S05 Greenhouse Grower will work under general direction provided by the Greenhouse Manager and Director of Horticulture. This role will assist the Greenhouse Manager with the daily operations of the Plant Production Facility, which supports horticulture, natural areas, and education programs at Cornell Botanic Gardens.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the care of seasonal plant material to include, but not limited to watering, fertilizing, plant propagation, transplanting, pinching, and pruning with attention to detail.
Maintain greenhouse work areas in a clean, sanitary and orderly condition.
Monitor greenhouse equipment and environmental conditions and report problems promptly.
Monitor plant health on a regular basis to determine and address nutritional, disease, or insect problems.
Report plant health concerns to the IPM Team.
Ensure that all protocols and procedures to safety requirements are met and Best Management Practices for Cornell Greenhouses are adhered to.
Assist with the care of garden areas throughout Cornell Botanic Gardens with direction provided by horticultural staff and Greenhouse Manager.
Amending soil, pruning plants, clearing brush, weeding, mulching, string trimming, raking leaves and edging.
Check both plant identification and interpretive labels and notify plant records manager of any missing tags.
Complete status change cards recording plant movements into and out of the specified collections, as well as reason(s) for plant loss and failure.
Operate fleet vehicles and small-scale power equipment.
Other gardening related duties as needed, including supporting IPM program and Arboriculture.
This position is full-time (39 hours/week) and will be located in Ithaca, New York.
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of three years of directly related work experience in a greenhouse and/or nursery, landscaping business or public garden required.
Demonstrated horticultural skills including experience operating motorized landscape and snow removal equipment.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and be cleared to drive for university business.
Excellent interpersonal (oral and written) skills to interact with a diverse range of people.
Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team and independently.
A strong customer service orientation while providing a helpful and friendly approach to serving the campus community.
Motivated to learn and takes initiative to be proactive.
Demonstrated experience utilizing independent judgment and problem solving to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Requires physical fitness and must be able to lift heavy objects, and move more than 50 pounds.
Must be willing to work under varying climatic conditions (heat, cold, precipitation, etc.).
Applicants must have the ability and willingness to work in an environment that utilizes pesticides as a pest management tool.
May be required to report to work outside of the regularly scheduled shift to address time-sensitive operational needs, or to assist with departmental emergencies, or to deal with issues of public safety.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in greenhouse management or horticulture.
Successful completion of formal coursework in greenhouse management and operations, integrated pest management, agronomy, arboriculture, ornamental plant pests and equipment operation helpful.
Experience in the care of a wide range of tropical, perennial, and woody plants.

ASSISTANT MANAGER: Starting pay $16 per hour. Assist with inventory tracking, scheduling and management of cultivation staff.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: * Over 21 years of age. * Ability to work a varied schedule * Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbally. * 2 years management experience * Basic computer and Excel skills * Previous experience with BioTrack and METRC systems is a plus * Valid Nevada marijuana agent card is a plus but not required.
GARDENERS: Starting pay $12 per hour. Perform plant maintenance such as watering, fertilizing, pruning, and trellis installation and maintenance. * Monitor plant health and inspect for pests, disease or other symptoms of distress. * Apply pest and pathogen control products.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: * At least 21 years of age. * High School Diploma or GED. * Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays. * Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbally. * Sincere, authentic interest in the Marijuana Industry * Valid marijuana agent card and horticultural experience is a plus, but not required.

OLCC tier 2 cannabis farm is looking to hire an assistant gardener.
Applicants are required to have an active marijuana worker permit and a strong work ethic. Having reliable transportation and being punctual is a must. Our Hours of operation are 7am-330pm, Monday through Friday with occasional weekends.
Duties will include,
Cleaning greenhouses/getting them ready for the next round of plants, Watering plants, Pruning/shaping plants, Transplanting, Trimming of the flower, Help prep flower for sale and many other duties.
No previous experience is necessary but is a plus.

Full Job Description
Garden Assistant
New state of the art, vertical LED Tier II OLCC facility is looking for full-time Garden Assistant to support our staff in daily operations. Our facility uses sustainable practices and strives to foster a work culture of respect, equality, teaching, and growth.
The Garden Assistant will support our lead garden staff with all activities of cultivation. These duties will include: IPM, feeding schedules, documentation, cloning, plant training, transplanting, trellising, harvesting, and sanitation.
Our ideal candidate has basic knowledge on plant deficiencies, diseases, and IPM programs.  You should be a team player, detail-oriented, driven, positive, and focused on the cleanliness of the new facility. This is an entry level position.
Responsibilities:
- Follow garden and facility SOPs
- Monitor and report all aspects of the veg and bloom room environments.
- Assist activities per the garden schedules, including feed times, rates, IPM, cloning, pruning/training, harvest, and cleaning/sanitation
- Complete all documentation to meet the company standards and OLCC requirements
- Attend weekly staff meetings and actively participate to ensure fluidity and communication between staff and daily/weekly calendars
- Assist with packaging and trimming, as needed
- Run errands for supplies, as needed m
Qualifications:
- Oregon Liquor Control Commission Marijuana Worker Permit required
- Must pass a background check
- A valid driver’s license
- 1 year experience as a grower or assistant grower in a licensed cannabis facility
- Must be physically capable of working for extended times on ladders during plant care, watering, and sanitation.
- Must be able to lift up 50lbs repeatedly
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Must work well in a team-environment and follow directions
- Must be professional and reliable
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Experience with MS Office, including Excel and Outlook is a plus
- METRC certification is a plus
- Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
Work Environment:
- Work is within an indoor facility with rooms that fluctuate from 65-86 degrees
- Must be available to work Saturday and Sunday and some holidays.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 40+ hours/ week but more as needed
- Must be able to handle high-light intensity (protective glasses provided)
- Must be able to work on ladders up to 8’ high in our 3 tier vertical bloom rooms and vertical dry room racks
