Summary Description

Position Title: Grower Accounting Manager

Summary Description
This position has overall responsibility for the grower accounting function and team. In addition, the individual will ensure accurate and timely payments to growers, perform proper accounting of all grower payment settlements as well as timely account reconciliations.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Train, supervise, and evaluate your team on day-to-day responsibilities. Ensure cross-training of team to have coverage.
- Responsible for analyzing and creating weekly pool settlements and accounting for various related charges
- Review pooling process and identify areas to automate/streamline
- Oversee banking wires to GDM and growers for pool proceeds including advances
- Ensure timely and accurate payments to growers in accordance with the grower contract terms and agreements
- Monitor domestic and international loan for potential delinquencies
- Manage the preparation of grower contracts and UCC filings
- Work with Production to manage Land Leases in Watsonville and Santa Maria
- Handles escalated grower requests and ensures issues are resolved
- Period-end / Season-end settlements for year-end close such as annual pool closing, true-up for growers, outstanding loan balances, grower result recaps, etc
- Ensures financial information for our grower clients is prepared in a timely and accurate fashion in accordance with their specific contracts
- Performs and provides analysis of current results to prior periods and/or budget
- Recommends and implements improvements to existing systems, processes and policies. Enforces adherence to established policies and processes.

Responsibilities
- Accountable for timely and accurate disbursement to growers in accordance with the Grower Service Agreements as well as any specific details included in each of the grower contracts.

- Timely completion of assigned period-end and year-end closing tasks.
- Partners with IT to document processes, identify improvements, test new development and is responsible to troubleshoot CCM issues.
- Contributes to the Business Unit’s people priorities and objectives regarding: people leader effectiveness, engaged employees, and enabling others to perform.

Candidate Profile
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of finance experience. The successful candidate will have broad-based accounting experience.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills are vital for success in this role. It requires the ability to establish credibility, build constructive relationships and impact cross-functionally at all levels in the organization. It also requires the ability to synthesize, simplify and present complex information and concepts to non-financial audiences.
- Developed financial and business analytical skills and attention to detail are required; to understand and interpret business results and plans.
- Must be knowledgeable in standard business software (MS Office, ERPs) to at least an intermediate level, and with the aptitude to quickly become an advanced user. Microsoft Dynamics and SAP experience preferred. Requires knowledge of business intelligence system.

- Bilingual; English/Spanish communication skills desired
- Process improvement experience is a plus
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required

Grower Account Manager

Indigo Grower Account Managers are the primary sales and service touchpoint for our grower customers. They represent Indigo and are well versed in all Indigo value propositions. Grower Account Managers execute with the clear objective of supporting the grower in business decisions to help improve profitability on their farm. Customer experience is core to the success of these team members in a quest to develop “enterprise” grower customers.
The role of the Grower Account Manager is to build and maintain close, emotional relationships with Indigo’s grower customers. This role extends far beyond a traditional sales position and will require the candidate to demonstrate strong business acumen, understanding of ag business, and exceptional emotional intelligence. The Grower Account Manager will need to intimately understand Indigo’s commercial offerings, articulate the benefits of Indigo’s solutions, close the sale with new growers and expand their book of business each quarter. Once the relationship has been established, Grower Account Managers will devote their efforts to delighting their growers with deep knowledge of farm operations, exceptional customer service, selling the complete Indigo portfolio of offerings, and building a long-lasting partnership with growers. The Grower Account Manager will partner with experienced Indigo Subject Matter Experts to enable grower success by maximizing farm profitability.
Responsibilities
- Graduates training certified in effectively communicating Indigo’s mission, technology, services and solutions including Marketplace, Microbiome, Carbon. Demonstrates skill in addressing questions/resistance and closing skills
- Systematically finds and nurtures grower leads whether assigned to them or developed on his/her own through an account-based selling approach
- Expands relationships with growers through a consultative sales approach that gets them to adopt Indigo solutions across the crop lifecycle
- Serves as primary relationship manager for grower-customers and leads grower-facing team of Subject Matter Experts
- Maintains grower accounts, sales stages, important notes, and sales process information in salesforce.com, CRM tool and utilizes other sales enablement technologies provided to them

- Can breakdown complex new products to effectively influence stakeholders
- Understands the customer’s needs that cultivates trust and lasting relationships

Indigo Research Partners (IRP) is an innovation ecosystem enabling the rapid deployment and value capture of agricultural technologies. IRP partners with various stakeholders across the ag value chain to drive the adoption of innovative and emerging tools that improve grower profitability.
As the world's largest agriculture lab, IRP partners with over 100 leading growers to evaluate Indigo's innovations and business models and deliver critical product feedback internally. IRP evaluates Crop Production innovations through microbial & regenerative experiments on growers' farms, as well as Crop Marketing innovations focused on understanding a full systems approach to de-commoditize agriculture.
Responsibilities:
- Creatively engage IRP growers in regional market by connecting growers directly with grain buyers and demonstrating 3+ value-added opportunities (ex. regeneratively or demographic produced grain)
- Develop regional grain market by networking with external crop marketing stakeholders (buyers, grain marketing advisors) and leveraging value of Indigo's various grain marketing tools
- Engage growers in Indigo's initiatives to improve logistic efficiencies through Indigo Transport
- Work cross-functionally with various internal teams to improve Indigo's crop marketing products, farm profitability, and risk management
- Become competent in Indigo's suite of pricing tools and best uses for each respective tool
- Serve as liaison between IRP growers and Indigo Offer Leads by capturing actionable feedback to evaluate and improve Marketplace and Transport offers
- Enable growers to advocate for Indigo's offerings by demonstrating a world class experience and proactively working to generate repeat product usage
- Develop a strong cohort of Crop Marketing growers in the region and consistently maintains strong relationships. Identifies and prioritizes leads as directed by IRP Leadership and uses systematic process to progress leads through enrollment funnel.
- Partner with IRP Hub Team (Field Research & Trial Manager, Research Operations Agronomist, Research Agronomist) to support Crop Production field experimentation as needed
- Embody a solution-oriented mindset. Consistently provides world class customer service and addresses any questions/issues from growers in a positive and professional manner

- Ability to travel >50%

This role extends far beyond a traditional sales position and will require the candidate to demonstrate strong business acumen, understanding of ag business, and exceptional emotional intelligence. The Grower Account Manager will need to intimately understand Indigo's commercial offerings, articulate the benefits of Indigo's solutions, close the sale with new growers and expand their book of business each quarter. Once the relationship has been established, Grower Account Managers will devote their efforts to delighting their growers with deep knowledge of farm operations, exceptional customer service, selling the complete Indigo portfolio of offerings, and building a long-lasting partnership with growers. The Grower Account Manager will partner with experienced Indigo Subject Matter Experts to enable grower success by maximizing farm profitability.
