- Responsible for accounting entries and account reconciliations for equity, including stock compensation, leases, debt, and intercompany transactions

Where You’ll be Planted

Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of the financial statement footnotes and MD&A for annual reports and the preparation of Form 10-Ks and Form 10-Qs
- Compiling information from business units to create supporting schedules, content and notes for the external financial statement filings
- Assist with the preparation of other filings including debt covenants and government accounting reports
- Researching technical accounting issues under US GAAP, including the preparation of accounting memos and policies
- Maintain accounting records and perform monthly close process for the US Corporate entity

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Assist Director of Technical Accounting with Research and documentation of GAAP accounting treatment and review current and new accounting pronouncements and developments
- Prepare memorandums on complex accounting and reporting topics (Leases, Consolidation, Acquisitions, Variable Interest, Derivatives, and may more)
- Development of new and revised accounting policies in accordance with GAAP
- Participate in cross-functional projects related to financial reporting and disclosure matters
- Assist in preparation of a monthly and quarterly reporting package for public Company (K/Qs)
- Assist the Senior Director of Financial Reporting and internal staff in preparing and reviewing the quarterly and annual SEC filings, including 10-Qs and 10-Ks, 8-Ks.
- Draft and review of the Management's Discussion and Analysis section of the 10-K/Q and support the drafting of the earnings release and related earnings call transcript
- Interface with the accounting department to extract data and reports from Sage reporting system and general ledger system to prepare monthly financial reports and monthly/quarterly financial statements for inclusion in various internal filings and SEC filing reporting requirements
- Assist in preparing quarterly and year-end audit schedules and analyses for the external auditors.
- Research and analyze disclosure requirements of new and amended technical accounting and reporting pronouncements and new transactions entered into by the Company. Prepare position memos as needed
- Assist in the Jushi's Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts in connection with the financial reporting process
- Support Director of Technical Accounting and Senior Director of Financial Reporting with ad hoc analysis or special projects as assigned
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting and technical accounting experience preferred)
- CPA required
- In-depth knowledge of US GAAP
- Assist in preparation of a monthly and quarterly reporting package for public Company (K/Qs)
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated history of solving multiple and complex challenges
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to understand, summarize and communicate complex accounting topics
- The qualified individual must be detailed oriented, very organized, be willing to roll up their sleeves, and have the ability and willingness to work in a rapidly changing and challenging environment
- High levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality

The Role
Leaf Trade is hiring a Financial Accountant to own financial processing and reporting across our quickly growing business. You will report to the Vice President of Finance and work closely with the Chief Revenue Officer and Chief Executive Officer to support their day-to-day reporting needs.
The ideal candidate is experienced in financial accounting specific to venture-funded startups with strong technical ability. You will own all accounting processing and reporting, and be responsible for developing processes to collect and manage revenue from the Leaf Trade platform.
Responsibilities
- Plan and perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including profit and loss statements, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses and analytical reviews, producing internal management reporting and external audit support
- Own accounts receivable and payable
- Participate in building scalable accounting processes to support growing revenue sources like Leaf Pay (our B2B payments solution)
- Partner with the Finance, Revenue, and Product teams to support internal financial systems process improvements and automation and to advise on accounting implications
- Research and prepare technical accounting analyses for new accounting pronouncements and/or business initiatives
- Design, implement and execute efficient internal control procedures
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedural documentation
Requirements
- B.A. or B.S degree in Accounting or Finance
- Experience performing the monthly close process, including all expense and revenue reporting
- Strong knowledge of Excel and experience working with accounting systems like Sage Intacct
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated history of taking on various types of challenging projects and producing results
- Demonstrated experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders
- Experience with internal controls (design, implementation and execution)
- Solution-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for establishing best practices

Responsibilities and Duties

Cash, AR, & Revenue: Counting cash from AR payments dropped off by couriers, preparing the Garda deposits, applying customer payments in the account system, creating & applying customer credits, preparing check deposits for the bank. Assist the Controller in weekly and quarterly cash needs projections for Oregon operations. -
Purchasing, AP & Expenses: Assist core Accounting Team with weekly AP Aging review & check run process. Print checks for vendor payments as needed. Assist Business Unit Manager and Accounting Team with forecasting inventory & purchasing needs. Assist with closing AP for month end close. - The preferred schedule is 9am PST – 1pm PST, Monday – Friday, although we can be flexible on this schedule as needed.
Skills & Experience Required
- 2-5 years of accounting experience required (CPA not required)
- Cannabis experience preferable but not required (if no cannabis experience, must be comfortable with high cash volume environment)
- 20 hours per week (potential to increase to 30 hours per week).
- Notary certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred
