Doctor's Orders is a licensed medical and recreational dispensary in NE Portland that has been operating since 2015. We are looking for reliable, energetic and driven individuals to fill a part-time budtender position. Job Summary
Budtenders are responsible for providing exceptional customer service while actively engaging conversations with consumers, to locate a suitable product. We expect you to contribute to overall atmosphere of the business, by providing your unique personality, to create a trusted relationship with the consumer. Other duties may include, assisting the management team with daily activities, work flows, and operations of the dispensary, while following all policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
This position requires the flexibility to work mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides knowledge, expertise, guidance, and a personalized experience to each customer by explaining potential benefits of the Premium Cannabis products offered.
- Ensures customer questions or concerns are resolved quickly and completely. Communicates any requests or unresolved concerns to management immediately.
- Ability to remain accurate while collecting, receiving, coordinating, and fulfilling customer orders.
- Ability to meet and/or exceed daily, weekly and monthly sales goals. May include meeting team sales goals.
- Assist management staff in ensuring all procedures are being followed to reflect regulatory and compliance standards.
- Maintain an positive work environment while treating all individuals with courtesy, dignity and respect.
- Performs other duties assigned by the general manager, assistant manager or keyholder.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in medical cannabis industry is preferred but not required.
- 1-3 years’ experience working in a cannabis retail setting preferred.
- 1-3 years' of customer service experience ideal, but not required.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with customers/caregivers and team members.
- Prior customer service experience in a hospitality, pharmacy, customer services or retail environment.
- Able to accommodate scheduling that may include mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Ability to follow cash handling procedures.
- Assist and remain accurate with product inventory counts.
- Follow all safety, health and security protocols.
- Adapt to POS system, training, technology and procedure changes.
- Ability to successfully pass and remain compliant with HIPAA Guidelines of NM.
- Maintain an understanding of and follow New Mexico Dept. of Health and Cannabis Control Division regulations.
- Per state law be at least 21 years of age.
- New Mexico resident with current valid State-issued ID or Driver’s License.
- Ability to provide necessary documentation for employment in the United States.
- Able to pass all background checks.
Education
- Must have obtained a high school diploma or GED.
- Associate's and/or Bachelor's degree, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Customer Service experience ideal, but not required.
- Experience with BiotrackTHC ideal, but not required
- Close attention to detail

Working conditions
- Work is primarily performed in a dispensary setting. The working area may be odorous at times and loud due to fans and filtration systems, fluctuating between cold and warm temperatures.
- Involves frequent contact with staff, vendors, and customers. Work may include dealing with law enforcement and occasional State inspectors.
Physical requirements
- The person in this position frequently communicates with customers and/or caregivers regarding medical conditions and symptoms. Must be able to exchange accurate information about product offerings.
- Frequently operates computer/POS system and other standard office equipment such as printers, phones, and photocopy machines.
- The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position when checking in customers or when operating the register.
- Constantly moves and transports dispensary products/totes up to 30 lbs. throughout the dispensary.
- Ability to twist, turn, bend, stand and walk as required to perform the duties associated with functioning as a dispensary agent.
- Able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
- Able to periodically bend, reach, and squat.
- Able to physically lift at least 50 lbs.
