This position provides legal support for the Medical Cannabis program in the Department of Health. Medical Cannabis was passed by South Dakota voters in November 2020 and codified at SDCL 34-20G. The Department has worked tirelessly to bring up the program over the last year and a half. The incumbent also serves as a Special Assistant Attorney General. Duties include providing legal opinions and advice to program and department staff; drafting legislation and administrative rules; lobbying; drafting policies and procedures; assisting with the Request for Proposals process; ensuring the Department is in compliance with federal and state statutes and administrative rules; participating in administrative and court hearings associated with regulatory actions involving patient registration and registration/regulation of medical cannabis establishments; providing assistance in drafting contracts and joint powers agreements; and other duties as assigned. This s a unique opportunity to provide legal assistance and support to a developing industry and body of law. The position will provide technical assistance and guidance to staff regarding the administrative rules, promulgation process, and legislative matters.

Work you'll do
Executive Support
- Completes a broad variety of administrative tasks for the Founder/CEO + Chief of Staff including: managing an extremely active calendar of appointments
- completing expense reports
- composing and preparing correspondence that is sometimes confidential
- arranging complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, and agendas; and compiling documents for travel-related meetings
- Plans, coordinates and ensures the CEO + Chief of Staff's schedule is followed and respected.
- Provides "gatekeeper" and "gateway" role, creating win-win situations for direct access to the CEO + Chief of Staff 's time
- Communicates directly, and on behalf of the Founder and CEO + Chief of Staff, with Board members, clients, Foundation staff, and others, on matters related to CEO + Chief of Staff 's programmatic initiatives
- Researches, prioritizes, and follows up on incoming issues and concerns addressed to the CEO + Chief of Staff, including those of a sensitive or confidential nature

Independently manages all aspects of Project Management and Delivery Process for strategic projects/programs that range in scope, budget and team size to the level of large projects, involving medium to high levels of risk and complexity.
- Identifies and manages cross-dependencies, proactively resolves issues/risks/impacts among multiple projects in a program.
- Works with varying levels of leadership across Dope Labs from staff through Partner, Principal, and Founder level.

Qualifications
Required:

Highlite Staffing is a cannabis industry specific staffing agency that identifies and employs cannabis career enthusiasts. We also place candidates with mid to upper-level experience to work directly with our customers who have licensed facilities across the country.
Our Mission is to assist our employees in jumpstarting their dream endeavors by providing them with the necessary experience to be bought out directly by the licensed facilities who employ Highlite Staffing to provide entry level assistance in their licensed marijuana establishments. Headquartered in Las Vegas, Highlite Staffing will continue to aggressively expand into other legal markets establishing ourselves as the leading national cannabis staffing agency. We have immediate need for a Cannabis Consultant/Staff Coordinator: $17 hourly plus bonuses ($500-$2000 monthly bonus). Primary goals are to work with our staff (budtenders, cultivation assistants and production lab assistants) to place them on assignment and be in control of their schedules. The staffing coordinator will be the liaison between the licensed facilities we are contracted with and our staff that we send on assignment to those locations. The staffing coordinator will work to place our budtenders, cultivation assistants and production lab/manufacturing kitchen assistants as well as help with permanent placement for our staff for mid to upper level positions.

Job Summary
VGR Law Firm is a startup cannabis law firm in Massachusetts. Its founder helped to end cannabis prohibition in Massachusetts and represents clients on wide range of cannabis related issues. We are seeking a non-attorney to add to our team. This is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a law firm in the cannabis industry, with potential equity available in addition to salary. Specifically, we are hiring a Staff Assistant who is motivated, uses technology well, and has the vision to assist in growing this busy practice.
Job Responsibilities
- Project management and drafting assistance for state and local cannabis applications.
- Collaborate on prospective client outreach to grow the customer base of the firm.
- Manage schedules, meetings, phone calls, and online interactions.
- Represent the law firm in meetings with state and local officials.
- Draft/review policies, procedures, and training materials for cannabis business employees.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a law firm, corporate, government setting, or other similar professional experience.
- BS/BA from accredited college or university.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to copy edit.
- Strong software skills including MS Office and the ability to learn other systems/CMS such as Clio and Asana.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence, a commitment to professionalism, integrity, and collegiality.
- Driven, organized, and diligent worker who remains calm under pressure, exhibits flexibility, and positivity.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment, works under tight deadlines, can multi-task, prioritize and delegate.
