The Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) Office of Information Technology Services (OITS) CalCannabis Cultivation Licensing Division (CalCannabis) is seeking a conscientious professional with a proven record as a supervisor over a technical team with broad and extensive experience in achieving productive results by developing plans to meet goals; building collaborative relationships and fostering an inclusive environment for consensus-building and decision-making; prompting loyalty to the Department’s mission; committing to drive continuous improvement for better results; and bringing strong communication skills and methods and approaches for continual process improvement.
Under general direction of the Agency Informaiton Officer (AIO), the incumbent is the supervisor of the CalCannabis Cultivation Licensing Division (CalCannabis) within OITS that is compromised of the Track and Trace team responsible for the technology solution California Cannabis Track and Trace (CCTT) system which tracks cannabis through the supply chain from cultivator through the retailers. The incumbent is responsible for managing state technical staff and overseeing vendor staff to perform business, technical, and legislative analysis, requirements development, system testing and validation, configuration support, release management, related interface support, system change control and governance, organizational change management, and contract management. It is critical that the incumbent maintain a high level of professionalism, diplomacy, and tact as this position must effectively communicate with executive staff, technical resources, and vendors. The position also requires significant collaboration with supporting vendors, other state departments, and the cannabis cultivation community.
The position exists in downtown Sacramento. CDFA’s Headquarters office is located at 1220 N Street, Sacramento, California.

Working Conditions
The duties of this position are primarily conducted indoors in an office environment. The incumbent will have a workstation with modular furniture, an adjustable rolling chair, a computer with various software programs, a telephone with voicemail, and stationary filing drawers and bins. The position requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time and operate a personal computer utilizing a mouse and keyboard.
The incumbent must be able to give presentations, participate at meetings, and interact with other staff. They must also be able to: push buttons on a keyboard, calculator, photocopy machine, facsimile machine, and telephone; grasp papers, small objects, and manuals; access upper and lower files and cabinets; and exert up to 15 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently in order to move or position objects.
Travel to various CDFA facilities and sites throughout the state as needed using various means of transportation systems; overnight stays and weekend and off-shift work may be required.

The Office of Information Technology Services (OITS) is responsible for the oversight and management of all information technology and telecommunications activities including, but not limited to, information technology, information security, and telecommunications personnel, contractors, systems, assets, projects, purchases, and contracts. OITS is tasked with ensuring compliance with state information technology policy and conformance to state information technology and telecommunications policy and enterprise architecture. The range of services that OITS provides encompasses the areas of Technology Governance, Applications Development Services, Customer Support and Services, IT Infrastructure Operations, Enterprise Architecture, Procurement, and Information Security. OITS provides IT services to over 2,000 employees in eight major program areas as well as executive and administrative staff distributed over 100 locations throughout the state.

Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I), the Staff Services Analyst will learn and perform increasingly difficult duties of a semi-technical nature within this specialized departmental program. The incumbent will respond to public inquiries regarding licensing information, direct phone calls to appropriate resources, and provide support to the program’s training unit. This job requires a thorough and detailed knowledge and application of the appropriate laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to CalCannabis. The incumbent will interface with the CDFA Office of Information Technology Services Division (OITS) to support CalCannabis Cultivation Licensing System (CLS) development and maintenance and support Customer Support System (CSS) system maintenance and call center operational activities.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Respond to inquiries from internal and external customers and stakeholders by phone, email, or regular mail regarding the application, licensing, amendment, and renewal processes including the electronic licensing system utilizing research and analysis to triage issues.
- Assess and appropriately route incoming phone calls; ensure appropriate, detailed, and accurate information is received from the caller before routing the calls.
- Provide technical customer service support for industry and public users accessing the CalCannabis CLS, including responding to emails and support calls. Provide analysis and solutions to discrepancies and identify potential problematic issues with the CLS.
- Create, maintain, and train staff to the customer service handbook and desk manual to ensure all customer service representatives maintain continuity of messaging and follow the same guidelines.
- Assists the division trainer with dissemination of information, CLS and CSS training materials, new or revised licensing system and operational procedures and/or policies, etc. in a formal or informal setting to state users and/or stakeholders.

Department Information
California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is statutorily mandated to establish a cannabis cultivation licensing program. As required by the Medicinal and Adult-Use Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MAUCRSA), CalCannabis licenses the cultivation of indoor and outdoor cannabis, with consideration given to size and location of the operation; has established a Track-and-Trace program that uniquely identifies cannabis plants and enables licensing authorities to track cannabis through the distribution chain; works in consultation with other state agencies to adopt environmental remediation regulations; and considers and implements best practices. Current law also includes the authority to conduct compliance verification inspections and investigations, take disciplinary actions, and promulgate regulations and report program activities to the Legislature.

Job Description and Duties

This is a 24 months limited term position with the potential to become permanent.
Under the direction of the Supervising Special Investigator I, the Special Investigator conducts inspections, investigations, administrative enforcement actions, and other duties related to compliance and enforcement of California laws and regulations governing the cultivation of cannabis. The incumbent applies State laws and regulations relating to the cultivation of cannabis; determines compliance with track-and-trace requirements for the movement and transfer of cannabis and cannabis products; analyzes situations accurately; and takes an effective course of action. Additionally, the incumbent prepares and issues Notices of Violation (NOV) and prepares clear and concise investigative reports and administrative enforcement documentation and testifies at administrative hearings, civil proceedings and/or criminal proceedings.

Working Conditions
The duties of this position are conducted 40% indoors and 60% outdoors (percentages are an estimate). The incumbent will be assigned a state vehicle (equipped with GPS technology), laptop computer, printer, cellular phone, and other tools, supplies and equipment necessary to perform the required job functions. The incumbent is expected to spend four days per week in the field. Shift start and finish time may vary based on operational need of work (i.e., travel, search warrants, surveillance, etc.). Overtime may be required.
If the incumbent does not live within the position’s designated home office area (see below), the assigned vehicle will be parked at a department designated location (usually a CalFire Station or state or local government office) within the position’s designated home office area (which will become the employee headquarters for travel purposes). If the employee lives within the department designated home office areas for this position, they will be issued a home storage permit to park their assigned vehicle at their home and their home address will be their headquarters address for travel purposes. The incumbent’s primary working area will be within Region 1. (See Attachment A.)
Humboldt County will be considered for the designated home office area.
During activities while in the field, the incumbent may be exposed to extreme weather conditions, dirt, odors, noise, fumes, uneven surfaces, extreme weather conditions, and fast-moving equipment. Should be able to perform strenuous hikes on foot over rough and rural terrain where unlicensed cannabis cultivation activities occurs, carry 25lbs, wear a tactical vest weighing 20lbs for long periods of time (8-10 hrs), and operate a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
Travel by state vehicle throughout the State is required on a routine basis. Travel by state vehicle or other public transportation systems to various locations throughout the state will be required on a regular basis and may be on short notice to assist other CalCannabis Investigators on enforcement actions. Incumbent should expect travel outside of normal regional assignment 25% of the time; participate in regular early hour operational briefings; and work extended hours when on various operations. Investigations may require extended periods of surveillance and sitting.
Title 11, Section 703(d) California Code of Regulations requires that all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) or serving as a back-up to a Special Investigator I - CEP, be fingerprinted and subject to a background investigation through the Department of Justice. Applicants for this position/examination must comply with this requirement and be cleared before hiring. Employees/candidates who do not pass DOJs background check will not be authorized for hire to this position.

CDFA is statutorily mandated to establish a Cannabis Cultivation Licensing Program (CalCannabis). As required by the Medicinal and Adult-Use Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MAUCRSA), CalCannabis will license the cultivation of indoor and outdoor cannabis, with consideration given to size and location of the operation; establish a track-and-trace program that uniquely identifies cannabis plants and enables licensing authorities to track cannabis through the distribution chain; work in consultation with other state agencies to adopt environmental remediation regulations; and consider and implement best practices. Current law also includes the authority to conduct compliance verification inspections, enforcement language, and provisions to promulgate regulations and report program activities to the Legislature.

Job Description and Duties
Per CCR 249.3, this job control may be used to fill subsequent vacancies.
Effective July 1, 2020, State employees are subject to a 9.23% salary reduction in exchange for up to 16 hours per month of the Personal Leave Program 2020 (PLP 2020).
This is a 24 months limited term position with the potential to become permanent.
Under the direction of the Supervising Special Investigator I, the Special Investigator is designated to support the mission of Cannabis Enforcement Program (CEP). The Special Investigator conducts inspections, investigations, administrative enforcement actions, and other duties related to compliance and enforcement of California laws and regulations governing the cultivation of cannabis. The incumbent applies State laws and regulations relating to the cultivation of cannabis; determines compliance with track-and-trace requirements for the movement and transfer of cannabis and cannabis products; analyzes situations accurately; and takes an effective course of action. Additionally, the incumbent prepares and issues Notices of Violation (NOV) and prepares clear and concise investigative reports and administrative enforcement documentation and testifies at administrative hearings, civil proceedings and/or criminal proceedings.

Working Conditions
The duties of this position are conducted 40% indoors and 60% outdoors (percentages are an estimate). The incumbent will be assigned a state vehicle (equipped with GPS technology), laptop computer, printer, cellular phone, and other tools, supplies and equipment necessary to perform the required job functions. The incumbent is expected to spend four days per week in the field. Shift start and finish time may vary based on operational need of work (i.e., travel, search warrants, surveillance, etc.) Overtime may be required.
If the incumbent does not live within the position’s designated home office area (see below), the assigned vehicle will be parked at a department designated location (usually a CalFire Station or state or local government office) within the position’s designated home office area (which will become the employee headquarters for travel purposes). If the employee lives within the department designated home office areas for this position, they will be issued a home storage permit to park their assigned vehicle at their home and their home address will be their headquarters address for travel purposes. The incumbent’s primary working area will be within Region 4. Kern and Fresno Counties will be considered for the designated home office area.
During activities while in the field, the incumbent may be exposed to extreme weather conditions, dirt, odors, noise, fumes, uneven surfaces, extreme weather conditions, and fast-moving equipment. Should be able to perform strenuous hikes on foot over rough and rural terrain where unlicensed cannabis cultivation activities occurs, carry 25lbs, wear a tactical vest weighing 20lbs for long periods of time (8-10 hrs.), and operate a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
Travel by state vehicle throughout the State is required on a routine basis. Travel by state vehicle or other public transportation systems to various locations throughout the state will be required on a regular basis and may be on short notice to assist other CalCannabis Investigators on enforcement actions. Incumbent should expect travel outside of normal regional assignment 25% of the time; participate in regular early hour operational briefings; and work extended hours when on various operations. Investigations may require extended periods of surveillance and sitting.
Title 11, Section 703(d) California Code of Regulations requires that all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) be fingerprinted and subject to a background investigation through the Department of Justice. Applicants for this position/examination must comply with this requirement and be cleared before hiring. Job Description and Duties
Per CCR 249.3, this job control may be used to fill subsequent vacancies.
Effective July 1, 2020, State employees are subject to a 9.23% salary reduction in exchange for up to 16 hours per month of the Personal Leave Program 2020 (PLP 2020).
This is a 24 months limited term position with the potential to become permanent.
Under the direction of the Supervising Special Investigator I, the Special Investigator is designated to support the mission of Cannabis Enforcement Program (CEP). The Special Investigator conducts inspections, investigations, administrative enforcement actions, and other duties related to compliance and enforcement of California laws and regulations governing the cultivation of cannabis. The incumbent applies State laws and regulations relating to the cultivation of cannabis; determines compliance with track-and-trace requirements for the movement and transfer of cannabis and cannabis products; analyzes situations accurately; and takes an effective course of action. Additionally, the incumbent prepares and issues Notices of Violation (NOV) and prepares clear and concise investigative reports and administrative enforcement documentation and testifies at administrative hearings, civil proceedings and/or criminal proceedings.

Working Conditions
The duties of this position are conducted 40% indoors and 60% outdoors (percentages are an estimate). The incumbent will be assigned a state vehicle (equipped with GPS technology), laptop computer, printer, cellular phone, and other tools, supplies and equipment necessary to perform the required job functions. The incumbent is expected to spend four days per week in the field. Shift start and finish time may vary based on operational need of work (i.e., travel, search warrants, surveillance, etc.) Overtime may be required.
If the incumbent does not live within the position’s designated home office area (see below), the assigned vehicle will be parked at a department designated location (usually a CalFire Station or state or local government office) within the position’s designated home office area (which will become the employee headquarters for travel purposes). If the employee lives within the department designated home office areas for this position, they will be issued a home storage permit to park their assigned vehicle at their home and their home address will be their headquarters address for travel purposes. The incumbent’s primary working area will be within Region 4. Kern and Fresno Counties will be considered for the designated home office area.
During activities while in the field, the incumbent may be exposed to extreme weather conditions, dirt, odors, noise, fumes, uneven surfaces, extreme weather conditions, and fast-moving equipment. Should be able to perform strenuous hikes on foot over rough and rural terrain where unlicensed cannabis cultivation activities occurs, carry 25lbs, wear a tactical vest weighing 20lbs for long periods of time (8-10 hrs.), and operate a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
Travel by state vehicle throughout the State is required on a routine basis. Travel by state vehicle or other public transportation systems to various locations throughout the state will be required on a regular basis and may be on short notice to assist other CalCannabis Investigators on enforcement actions. Incumbent should expect travel outside of normal regional assignment 25% of the time; participate in regular early hour operational briefings; and work extended hours when on various operations. Investigations may require extended periods of surveillance and sitting.
Title 11, Section 703(d) California Code of Regulations requires that all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) be fingerprinted and subject to a background investigation through the Department of Justice. CDFA is statutorily mandated to establish a Cannabis Cultivation Licensing Program (CalCannabis). As required by the Medicinal and Adult-Use Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MAUCRSA), CalCannabis will license the cultivation of indoor and outdoor cannabis, with consideration given to size and location of the operation; establish a track-and-trace program that uniquely identifies cannabis plants and enables licensing authorities to track cannabis through the distribution chain; work in consultation with other state agencies to adopt environmental remediation regulations; and consider and implement best practices. Current law also includes the authority to conduct compliance verification inspections, enforcement language, and provisions to promulgate regulations and report program activities to the Legislature.

Job Description and Duties
Per CCR 249.3, this job control may be used to fill subsequent vacancies.
This is a 24-month limited term position with the potential to become permanent.
Under the direction of the Supervising Special Investigator II (SSI II), the Supervising Special Investigator I (SSI I) serves as the field office supervisor and oversees cannabis cultivation site inspections, investigations and administrative and licensing actions associated with licensed cultivation sites within the designated field office coverage area. The SSI I supervises, plans, organizes, and directs the work of Special Investigators performing inspections, investigations, and enforcement activities of licensed cannabis cultivation sites. Among other duties, the SSI I interprets and explains the provisions of the cannabis cultivation laws and regulations; performs the more difficult and complex investigations; assists the Supervising Special Investigator II in program planning, policy development and implementation and administrative duties including coordination and collaboration with other state agencies regarding statutory and regulatory enforcement. The SSI I reviews and evaluates inspection and investigation reports; makes or participates in more difficult field investigations; files complaints, prepares cases, and appears in administrative hearings or in court; works with and secures the cooperation of State and local law enforcement agencies as needed. The SSI I works closely with the SSI II in order to develop strategies for managing program fraud and abuse; assists in planning and directing a major investigation program; prepares various management reports and related documentation, and acts for the SSI II in their absence.

Working Conditions
The duties of this position are conducted 40% indoors and 60%outdoors. The incumbent will be assigned a state vehicle (which will be equipped with GPS technology), laptop computer and printer, cellular phone, and other equipment necessary to perform the required job duties and the necessary equipment, tools, and supplies to conduct on-site inspections and investigations and work remotely/away from the home office. The incumbent is expected to spend four days per week in the field working with their staff. Designated home office area for this position: Los Angeles County, Ventura County, or Orange County.
The assigned vehicle will be parked at a department designated location (usually a CalFire Station or state or local government office) within the designated home office area (which will become the employee headquarters for travel purposes). If the employee lives within the designated home office areas for this position, they will be issued a home storage permit to park their assigned vehicle at their home and their home address will be their headquarters address for travel purposes. The incumbent will be responsible for supervising staff located throughout Region 6 (Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego Counties - see Attachment A.)

Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) (SES Sup) in the Region 2 Compliance Unit, the Environmental Scientist will field-verify cannabis cultivator operations for compliance with commercial cannabis cultivation statues and regulations, determine environmental compliance of licensed cannabis sites, investigate complaint referrals from partner agencies, make environmental referrals to partner agencies, support Environmental Scientists in the Licensing Branch, analyze situations accurately, prepare clear and concise documentation to support enforcement activities, and take effective actions.
This is a 24-month limited term position with the potential to become permanent.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Field-verify that cannabis cultivators are operating in compliance with commercial cannabis cultivation statutes and regulations; document violations to support enforcement activities of licensed cannabis cultivation sites.
- Receive, process, and investigate referrals and complaints regarding environmental compliance of state licensed cannabis cultivation sites to ensure accurate and consistent oversite of licensees.
- Document site visits via post inspection reports and maps.
- Regular travel to various locations within Region 2 to conduct on-site inspections
- Review cultivation plans including property and premises diagrams, required California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) mitigations, and all license information prior to inspections to ensure all activities are accounted for in inspection plans, such as: designated areas for flowering and propagating; canopy does not exceed licensed limits; pesticide storage area; cannabis waste area; processing and packaging area; product storage area; confirm water sources and water storage area; confirm field growing method corresponds to correct license type; water quality protection; and fish and wildlife protection measures.
- Use of field equipment such as Global Positioning System (GPS) instruments and digital measuring wheels to record field data points such as point of water diversion for irrigation and canopy measurements.
- Plotting field data points using Geographic Information System (GIS) software for gathering, managing, and analyzing field data.

Job Description and Duties

This position is a 24-month limited-term with the potential to become permanent.
Under the general direction of the C.E.A., the Supervising Special Investigator (SSI) II serves as the Chief Investigator and will oversee statewide cannabis cultivation site inspections and enforcement for the Southern California Region. The SSI II will supervise Supervising Special Investigator I (SSI I) positions and Special Investigators in Regions 4, 5, and 6. The incumbent is responsible for providing guidance and advising the SSI I in supervision of the field staff in performing inspections and enforcement activities statewide to detect or verify regulatory non-compliance or unlicensed cannabis cultivation activities. The SSI II interprets and explains the provisions of the cannabis cultivation laws and regulations; performs the more difficult and complex investigations; and assists the C.E.A. in program planning, policy development and implementation and administrative duties including coordination with other state agencies regarding regulation enforcement.

Working Conditions
The duties of this position are performed indoors approximately 90% of the time and outdoors approximately 10% of the time. The incumbent will be assigned a state vehicle (which will be equipped with GPS technology), laptop computer and printer, cellular phone, and other equipment necessary to perform the required job duties and the necessary equipment, tools, and supplies to conduct on-site inspections and investigations and work remotely/away from the home office.
The incumbent is expected to spend four days per week in the field working with their staff. Designated home office area for this position: Los Angeles County, Ventura County, or the following zip codes in San Bernardino County: 91335, 91701, 91709, 91710, 091730, 91737, 91739, 91743, 91761, 91762, 91763, 91764, 91784, 91786, 92313, 92316, 92336, 92337, 92358, 92376, 92377, 92401, 92405, 92408, 92410, or 92411. If the incumbent lives outside the area herein designated as Region 4, 5, and 6, the assigned vehicle will be parked at a designated location in one of those regions as predetermined by management. This predetermined location will serve as the incumbent’s home office; the incumbent will be responsible for travel expenses from their residence to the designated location.
The assigned vehicle will be parked at a department designated location (usually a CalFire Station or state or local government office) within the designated home office area (which will become the employee headquarters for travel purposes). If the employee lives within the designated home office areas for this position, they will be issued a home storage permit to park their assigned vehicle at their home and their home address will be their headquarters address for travel purposes. The incumbent will be responsible for supervising staff located throughout Regions 4, 5, and 6 (Fresno, Monterey, Tulare, Merced, Mariposa, Madera, San Benito, Kings, Kern, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Inyo, Mono, San Bernardino, Orange, Riverside, San Diego and Imperial Counties.
During activities while in the field, the incumbent may be exposed to dirt, odors, noise, fumes, uneven surfaces, extreme weather conditions, and fast-moving equipment.
Travel by state vehicle within Region 4, 5 and 6 is required on a routine basis. Travel by state vehicle or other public transportation systems to various locations throughout the state will be required on an occasional basis and may be on short notice to assist other CalCannabis Investigators on enforcement actions.

As required by the Medicinal and Adult-Use Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MAUCRSA), CalCannabis will license the cultivation of indoor and outdoor cannabis, with consideration given to size and location of the operation; establish a Track-and-Trace program that uniquely identifies cannabis plants and enables licensing authorities to track cannabis through the distribution chain; work in consultation with other state agencies to adopt environmental remediation regulations; and consider and implement best practices. Under the direction of the Director, the incumbent provides a high level of administrative and executive level duties and responsibilities to the Director, Assistant Director, Branch Chiefs, and support staff for the Division. The incumbent works collaboratively with the Division management team and staff to brief and advise them of various topics. Working Conditions
Our newly remodeled office is located in Natomas, just off of the I-5 freeway north of downtown Sacramento, with plenty of free parking. The duties of this job are performed indoors in a cubicle environment. The cubicle contains a chair, computer, various software programs, a telephone with voicemail, portable and stationary filing drawers, and overhead cabinets.
This position requires travel on an occasional basis to other CDFA facilities, sister agencies, and other locations for relevant meetings or training, using private vehicle, State vehicle, air, or other transportation system. Employee may occasionally be required to travel in inclement weather.

In order to protect and promote California’s agricultural industry, the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) oversees the production of safe food and fiber for the consumers of California agricultural commodities through responsible environmental stewardship and regulation of marketplace standards to ensure a fair and competitive marketplace. The Division of CalCannabis Cultivation Licensing (CalCannabis) fulfills its mission by ensuring public safety and environmental protection by licensing and regulating commercial cannabis cultivators in California. CalCannabis is organized into three Branches: Licensing, Compliance and Enforcement, and Administration.
The Medicinal and Adult-Use of Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (Act) requires CDFA to establish a regulatory program for the cultivation of commercial cannabis, to license cultivation of indoor and outdoor cannabis, establish a track-and-trace program, work collaboratively with other agencies to adopt environmental remediation regulations, implement best practices including water discharge, nutrient management and application, wildlife habitat, and pesticide use standard; and establish an electronic data base that can be accessed by the Bureau of Cannabis Control. Job Description and Duties
Per CCR 249.3, this job control may be used to fill subsequent vacancies.
Under the general supervision of the CalCannabis Senior Environmental Scientist Supervisor the Scientific Aid is responsible for performing a variety of data management and field tasks associated with the CalCannabis Licensing Branch (CCLB) Compliance program. The Scientific Aid will have the ability to read and understand all forms of instructions; compile and organize data; operate various types of office equipment; follow oral and written directions; produce reports and keep records; meet and deal tactfully with the public; understand and communicate CDFA and/or CalCannabis policies and procedures. Occasional overnight travel may be required. A California driver’s license is required for this position.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Enter, edit, update and retrieve cannabis cultivation data using ARCView, ACCESS, ACCELA or other prescribed data management program. Data retrieval includes preparing reports and documenting other needed environmental compliance information.
- Prepare, provide and receive documents related to the County Agricultural Inspection program.
- Review, utilize and apply cannabis legislation, regulations and CalCannabis policy as it pertains to commercial cannabis cultivation to assist with the compliance processes.
- Respond to public inquiries and requests for information and clearly and concisely relay information to the public via email, phone, and in person. Accurately refer technical and scientific questions to appropriate scientific or administrative staff.
- Assist staff with field-verification of cannabis cultivators. Travel to remote locations to collect field information. Ensure Licensees are operating in compliance with commercial cannabis cultivation statutes and regulations; and document violations to support enforcement activities of licensed cannabis cultivation sites.
- Act as a backup of review for annual license applications, which includes receipt of application packet and confirmation that all required documents have been received and scientific review of cultivation plan.

Working Conditions
The duties of this position are primarily conducted indoors in a cubicle environment located at 930 Sixth Street, Eureka, CA 95501. Each cubicle contains a computer with various software programs, a telephone with voicemail, portable and stationary filing drawers, and overhead cabinets.
Irregular travel will be required to remote field locations. During field activities, the incumbent may be exposed to dirt, odors, noise, fumes, uneven surfaces, extreme weather conditions, and fast-moving equipment.
Occasional travel to the CalCannabis Headquarters in Sacramento and various other locations throughout the State by private vehicle, State vehicle, air, or other transportation system is necessary for the incumbent to attend training and board, committee, and other assorted meetings. Employee may be required to travel in inclement weather.

Department Information
California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is statutorily mandated to establish a cannabis cultivation licensing program. As required by the Medicinal and Adult-Use Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MAUCRSA), CalCannabis licenses the cultivation of indoor and outdoor cannabis, with consideration given to size and location of the operation; has established a Track-and-Trace program that uniquely identifies cannabis plants and enables licensing authorities to track cannabis through the distribution chain; works in consultation with other state agencies to adopt environmental remediation regulations; and considers and implements best practices. Current law also includes the authority to conduct compliance verification inspections and investigations, take disciplinary actions, and promulgate regulations and report program activities to the Legislature.
