Position Overview
The Assistant Manager is primarily responsible for day to day operations for the front of house which include effective performance management and execution of retail operations including merchandising, staffing, and the patient order fulfillment processes. The Assistant Manager oversees all activities related to the operation of the Dispensary to include patient identification and registration, record retention, product tracking and inventory control in compliance with all regulatory requirements PA Medical Marijuana Program rules and regulations governing the Act.
Primary Responsibilities
- Drive a culture of positive employee engagement with a strong focus on inclusion & diversity.
- Develop, coach and consistently execute Natures Medicines service standards. Ensure consistent execution of steps of service by using tools such staff meetings, and customer feedback. Constantly work to improve standards and customer satisfaction.
- Take ownership of Natures Medicines dispensary business and ensure the dispensary operate efficiently and profitably.
- Actively manage inventory, recalls, and pricing to meet cost and sales targets.
- Effectively manage cash controls and financial reporting. Ensure check register, cash outs, bank logs, inventory and deposits are accurate and executed according to Natures Medicines standard.
- Hire, train, schedule and manage staff at dispensary to achieve established standards, sales and profit objectives as well as customer satisfaction. Ensure that all deadlines are met and take accountability for completion.
- Effectively manage service labor, scheduling and payroll.
- Conduct performance reviews with employees & monitor employee productivity, attitudes, and performance results.
- Maintain a general awareness of cannabis and retail trends to help create innovative and adaptive strategies. Work closely with grower-processors to understand and learn about their products.
- Maintain excellent facilities conducive to enhancing employee productivity.
- Work with the Dispensary Manager to meet all regulatory requirements PA Medical Marijuana Program rules and regulations governing the Act. Correct all violations with a sense of urgency.
- Work with Natures Medicines corporate office (finance, marketing,) to ensure standards are met. Maintain open lines of communication with staff.
- Promote open feedback from reception, retail staff, medical professional.
- Become a subject matter expert in Pennsylvania’s seed-to-sale tracking system MJ Freeway and LEAF Data System.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- 1+ years of management experience in the retail, restaurant, grocery or other service industry with responsibility for financial results preferred
- Previous management proficiency in high volume retail with P&L accountability.
- Ability to create and maintain a customer focused culture.
- Cannabis experience is a plus.
- Work/manage coverage of weekends and holidays as necessary.
- Must be flexible regarding work schedule and willing to work 5-6 days per week including evening and weekends including opening and closing shifts.
- Have a proven track record of working effectively with customers with minimum of 2 years’ experience preferred.
- Must be willing to submit to and pass a comprehensive background check.
Background Check Requirement
