JOB SUMMARY*

TITLE: Part-Time Dispensary Medical Professional (Pharm D., RPh, PA, CRNP)
REPORTS TO: KCR Executive Team
POSITION SUMMARY
KCR’s Dispensary Medical Professional will assist in providing the best possible experience for patients of the medical marijuana program in Pennsylvania. Medical Professionals shall be devoted to the safe, accurate and efficient dispensing of high-quality medical marijuana to qualifying patients, as well as providing patients and caregivers with correct and intelligible medication information. Dispensary Medical Professionals will help provide leadership and direction to dispensary staff members and be proficient with other dispensary activities as deemed appropriate. KCR’s Medical Professionals will be consistently aware of the dispensary environment and work to preserve a clean, comfortable, and professional patient experience. Medical Professionals will maintain the highest ethical pharmacy practice including awareness of and consistent compliance with all state laws and regulations as well as all company policies.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
Part-Time Dispensary Medical Professional duties shall include, but not be limited to:
- Establishing a working availability with KCR’s executive team for assistance during times of increased patient volume and company necessity
- Counseling patients on safe, accurate, and effective use of their dispensed medical marijuana
- Assuring the accurate and timely dispensing of medical marijuana products and ancillary equipment
- Maintaining the highest level of quality and safety throughout the dispensaries and the company
- Maintaining all compliance elements with the highest degree of professionalism consistent with Pennsylvania state laws and regulations
- Maintaining KCR’s company procedures, policies and compliance with State regulations to eliminate diversion of drugs and other merchandise
- Overseeing and preserving workflow processes that assure an excellent patient experience and achieve the highest level of patient satisfaction
- Maintaining practices and procedures that are sensitive and appropriate to KCR’s budget
- Achieving and maintaining an appropriate degree of competency with respect to the medical marijuana industry
- Working with the dispensary medical professional team to develop and implement medication therapy management services to maximize utilization of medical marijuana and prescription medication to improve patient outcomes
- Collaborating with KCR’s staff and other associated groups to inform and educate both healthcare providers and Pennsylvania citizens about medical marijuana and its applications including assisting the Pennsylvania Department of Health with its education, outreach and stakeholder management efforts including but not limited to physicians, patients, caregivers, law enforcement and advocacy groups
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy
OR
Master's degree graduate of an AMA-accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner program required.
At least 2 years of clinical practice experience. Experience with medication reconciliation, medication therapy management and disease state management essential.
Licensure, and/or Certification:
Licensure by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Pharmacist (Pharm. D. or RPh) Physician Assistant (P.A.) or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (C.R.N.P.) (in good standing with No disciplinary action).
CPR/BLS and ACLS training desired.
Must pass any and all state and federal background checks.
PA Medical Marijuana 4-hour course completed prior to start date.
Knowledge, Skills, Traits and Abilities:
KCR’s Dispensary Medical Professionals will have a strong knowledge of: methods and procedures used in the practice of pharmacy, including chemistry, pharmaceutical calculations and prescription compounding; federal and state laws pertaining to the preparation and dispensing of prescription medication and specifically Pennsylvania law pertaining to the preparation and dispensing of medical marijuana; guidelines for the safe handling, storage and utilization of medical marijuana and associated medical equipment and adjuncts; necessary equipment for proper administering of medical marijuana and pharmacy / dispensary function, and means to obtain and maintain such equipment; software systems utilized for the management of patient data and dispensary inventory.
KCR’s Dispensary Medical Professionals will have strong communication skills, be friendly and compassionate toward patients and staff, and be able to positively represent KCR and the PA medical marijuana industry as a whole. He/she will be able to both effectively manage and participate in dispensary-related tasks. These individuals will be able to work independently, as well as with a team, and have a high level of organizational skills. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are necessary. Computer competency and internet navigation skills are also necessary. Pharmacists will be familiar with and understand how to navigate common published drug resources and references, including online resources. Dispensary Pharmacists will have a positive attitude and a consistently high degree of professionalism. They will abide by the highest level of ethical and moral conduct and serve as role models for the dispensary team and all KCR employees. Also, due to the nature of medical practice within dispensary sites, it is also favorable that the individuals serving as Pharmacists be trained and certified in Basic Life Support and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
