Specific Responsibilities:

As a Process Chemist, you will participate in an integrated manufacturing team aimed at producing the highest quality cannabis extracts for our brand Chemistry, our partners, clients, collaborators and patients. You will be trained in and responsible for assisting in all aspects of manufacturing, including but not limited to the following:

• Preparation of materials for all steps in the manufacturing of cannabis extract
• Extraction, mechanical grinding of biomass, solvent transfer systems
• Lab equipment operation and maintenance
• Operation of rotary evaporators
• Data input into compliance systems and management tracking platforms
• Laboratory materials and inventory management
• Cleaning, organizing and maintaining a safe lab environment
• Quality control and sample submissions to external testing laboratory
• Quality control track and trace software per California regulations

The ideal candidate will:

• Demonstrate strong leadership, communication and organization skills
• Have a desire to maintain a clean and efficient laboratory, with a focus on optimizing workflow.
• Have a familiarity with concepts regarding distillation, chromatography, polarity in context of extraction science, knowledge of phase diagrams and volatility of liquid solvents.
• Be able to multitask and work in a dynamic environment
• Have knowledge of crude cannabis oil refinement techniques
• Flexibility to help with workload where needed, sometimes outside of lab duties
• Learning new techniques and willingness to help structure and implement them as we grow
• Has worked with vacuum pumps, chillers and filtration equipment.
• Work independently with no supervision and as a team member to accomplish manufacturing goals

Essential Duties and Job Functions

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills

BS in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry and/or relevant experience in a laboratory setting is preferred. The preferred candidate will 1-3 years of experience in a laboratory in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical or cannabis extraction industry. Strong verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are required. Must be able to participate in highly effective teams. Requires ability to use common tools for effective (scientific) communication within the company.

Responsibilities:

• Work with the scientific management team on process and new product development.

We're looking for two passionate and professional people to fill two laboratory positions. We need one of the hires to be the processing lead responsible for managing, operating, and reporting on, a state-of-the-art, compliant, extraction/processing facility and HAS experience in a position like this. We are looking for a highly dedicated individual who is self-driven, excellent communicator, who has extensive experience with being a cannabis processor, and who has extensive knowledge of the cannabis industry. The other chemist should have chromatography experience.
Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related Chemistry field experience preferred.
Prior GMP production experience preferred.
Previous experience in cannabis field preferred.

We are seeking an experienced Purification and Formulation Chemist for a fast-growing company to provide support to the organization. The Process Chemist assists the Lab Manufacturing Director in producing quality cannabis products thru execution of post-harvest processes including extraction, purification, distillation and formulation. The Process Chemist will be responsible to maintain production levels in accordance with departmental goals as well maintaining quality control measures to ensure production of quality products. Day-to-day tasks would include Supercritical CO2 Extraction, Purification thru Centrifugation and Filtration, Rotovap, Distillation and Formulation. The Process Chemist must monitor and maintain the production facility in accordance with the state of New York and standards set by Curaleaf, NY.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Curaleaf NY Facility is a state-of-the-art cannabis grow, manufacturing, and research development center located just outside Albany, New York. As a member of the Curaleaf team you would perform all necessary laboratory functions to help support our team's mission of producing consistent and safe cannabis-based medicines that help improve our patients lives.
Job Duties:

• Perform process steps that include extraction of crude cannabis oil, purification into decarboxylated oil, distillation, formulation of finished product.
• Perform mass balance calculations, dilution math, collect and maintain data, execute master batch records and follow good documentation practices
• Prepare and plan for production by reviewing production schedule; understanding product specifications for purification and distillation; calculating equipment capacity and maintaining adequate supply levels.
• Maintain and Operate highly sophisticated laboratory equipment such as a Supercritical CO2 Extraction Unit, Rotovaps, Centrifuges, Distillation units, Overhead mixers and Balances.

Processing Chemist
Curaleaf is a rapidly expanding, multi-state medical cannabis company dedicated to the needs of its patients. We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Chemist familiar with cGMP guidelines to work in our new production facility in Lake Mary, Florida. As a member of the Curaleaf team you would be part of a dynamic and rapidly growing organization. The Chemist supports the laboratory manufacturing team by performing day to day tasks associated with downstream processing of medical marijuana products including extraction, filtration, and distillation. In addition the chemist will also assist in product and process development. The chemist duties will also include activities associated with product formulation covering a wide range of dosage forms that ensures high quality products. The Chemist will maintain and monitor the production laboratories in accordance with the cGMP standards.

• Assume the role of technical lead for processes development and process transfer involving new products and/or processes being assimilated into the manufacturing group
• Document results, analyze and organize data, complete batch record documentation in accordance with GMP guidelines.
• Writing manufacturing documents , standard operating procedures and preparation of
• Preparing for and executing production by reviewing production schedule; studying and clarifying specifications for upcoming production runs; calculating requirements; monitoring results and identifying unexpected
• Accurately recording essential information in databases, communicate findings, and aid in generating analytical reports under strict time lines.
• Maintain laboratory facility following current good manufacturing practices (cGMP), and standard operating procedures; complying with legal regulations; monitoring
• Operating, calibrating, maintaining and repairing laboratory equipment such as pumps, roto vaps, balances and centrifuges.
• Maintaining inventory records of supplies, materials, and equipment, and preparing requisitions as
• Storing supplies and equipment, disposing of waste per state regulations, and keeping laboratory, storerooms and working areas
• Washing and sterilizing laboratory
• Performing clerical work related to laboratory activities such as word processing, record keeping, and
• Maintaining material safety data sheets for all department chemicals and
• Supporting the QC analytics laboratory as needed
• Training employees on the cannabid oil extraction and refinement
• Accurately enter inventory within state run inventory tracking system (BiotrackTHC)

Job Qualification Requirements:

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Bachelor's Degree in chemistry or related field
• 1-2 years' experience in cGMP laboratory or manufacturing setting
