Specific Responsibilities:
This position is 60% QC, and 40% Process Scientist. In the QC role, you will support manufacturing activities by ensuring that all raw materials and finished products are recorded in compliance software systems throughout the various manufacturing stages according to California state laws for cannabis. In the Process Scientist role, you will be integrated into a manufacturing team aimed at producing the highest quality cannabis extracts for our brand Chemistry, our partners, clients, collaborators and patients.
You will be trained in and responsible for assisting in all aspects QC and manufacturing, including but not limited to the following:
- Quality control track and trace software per California regulations
- Quality control and sample submissions to external testing laboratory
- Cleaning, organizing and maintaining a safe lab environment
- Lab equipment operation and maintenance
- Data input into compliance systems and management tracking platforms
- Extraction, mechanical grinding of biomass, solvent transfer systems
- Operation of rotary evaporators
- Preparation of materials for all steps of processing
- Laboratory materials and inventory management
- Maintain accurate inventory counts
- General laboratory cleanliness
The preferred candidate should be able to:

- Lead in meetings and be able to direct team work flow and efforts in accordance with company goals
- Multitask and work in a dynamic environment
- Flexibility to help with workload where needed, sometimes outside of lab duties

Essential Duties and Job Functions
Plans and executes assigned processes that support manufacturing activities and company goals. Demonstrates and applies advanced level of understanding of company goals, methods, and SOPs. May work cross-functionally within organization to achieve common goals. Recommends alternatives, researches new methods and techniques and may proactively seek out senior personnel to discuss potential solutions to problems. Participates in company meetings. Works with limited supervision on projects of moderate scope and complexity.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills
BS in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry and/or relevant experience in a laboratory setting is preferred. The preferred candidate will have 3 years of experience in a laboratory in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry. Previous experience within a QC department is highly desired. Strong verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are required. Must be able to participate in highly effective teams. Requires ability to use common tools for effective (scientific) communication within the company.

Job Type: Full-time, Monday - Friday (9:30 am- 6 pm). For the initial 1-2 two months while training on compliance software systems, remote weekend work will be required for 1-4 hours per day. The weekday schedule will also be flexible to match this requirement during the training period. After training, the schedule will resume to M-F.
Salary: $65,000.00 to $80,000.00 /year, salary commensurate with experience
