Processing Chemist
California Cannabinoids is a vertically integrated rare cannabinoid manufacturer located in Oakland, CA. The company manufactures bulk rare cannabinoids (THCV, CBN, D8THCV, CBV, etc) for various manufacturing uses in the California regulated cannabis industry. The company has various retail lines of products available in California, including the Doug’s Varin™ line of high THCV products. We are a fully licensed and compliant cannabis business under California state law.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the scientific management team on process and new product development.
- Document results, analyze and organize data, complete batch records according to company protocols
- Writing and maintaining manufacturing related documents and standard operating procedure.
- Preparing for and executing production scheduling, calculating requirements, implementation, monitoring results and identifying and documenting non-conformances
- Maintain laboratory facility in compliance with company standard operating procedure and regulatory and legal frameworks
- Operating, calibrating, maintaining and repairing laboratory manufacturing and analytical equipment
- Maintaining inventory records of supplies, materials, and equipment, and preparing requisitions as necessary
- Storing supplies and equipment, disposing of waste per state regulations, and overseeing the general upkeep of laboratory, storerooms and working areas
- Washing and sterilizing laboratory and equipment
- Performing clerical work related to laboratory activities such as word processing and record keeping
- Maintaining material safety data sheets
- Implementing quality control
- Management and training of manufacturing lab employees
- Implementing METRC compliance
- Performing and assisting in other duties, responsibilities, or projects as needed
Job Qualification Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to pass a live scan background check
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry or related field
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of and hands on experience with extraction, rotary evaporation, decarboxylation, winterization, distillation, or similar technologies in related fields.
- Strong mathematics skills.
- Analytical with the ability to collect and interpret data
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands
- Ability to comply with established safety standards for the proper use, safe handling and disposal of harmful chemicals, substances, and hazardous
- Experience effectively using computer systems, software, and hardware common to laboratory record keeping.
- Must be able to work in a challenging fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, along with frequent
- Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle common laboratory tools and implements.

Distillation Lab Tech
The Cannabis Lab Technician will report to the Process Chemist. Cannabis Lab Technician will be responsible for operating the distillation equipment in creating multiple cannabis products. This individual will work safely to meet production goals, maintain a clean and organized workspace all while exceeding quality control standards. This position requires close attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic workspace, and the ability to work as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and measures for compliance with quality, health, safety and regulatory requirements
- Maintain a clean and efficient workspace
- Maintain and operate Wiped Film distillation equipment.
- Maintain a complete and up to date laboratory notebook.
- Responsible for utilizing all required processes.
- Responsible for producing distillate products.
- Work with the team to ensure product integrity throughout the manufacturing process
- Perform all other related duties as assigned
- Conform with all regulatory, compliance and safety requirements
Candidates Must Possess The Following Qualifications
- 2 years of laboratory experience in distillation
- Experience in various distillation techniques to include Wiped Film distillation
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks for an extended period of time
- Strong communication skills
- Excels in a team environment; follows directions easily
- High attention to detail and extremely organized
- Able to adapt to changing roles and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient with computers, particularly Excel, Word, Email & capable of learning
- Must be 21 years of age or older to apply
- Able to stand on their feet for at least 8 hours a day with constant movement. Repetitive hand motion, moving heavy equipment.
- Required to work with hazardous chemicals and to wear appropriate clothing
Experience:
- Cannabis: 1-2 years (Required)
Education:
- Associate (Preferred)
A flexible schedule is a must. Sometimes a distillation will start late in the day and you will need to stay until it is completed. Some days you could come in late or leave early and others you might put in a long day. We try to make sure the schedule is balanced and fair, while keeping in mind that if a distillation is started you would need to stay and see it through to the end.
