Maintenance Technician (HVAC)
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for HVAC equipment onsite, utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, control systems, pip fitting, and structural layouts. In this position you will establish and maintain a positive relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers through effective oral and written communication skills via phone, computer, and face to face. You will perform scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance, inspections, site surveys, and service request including replacement, and modifications of equipment or systems as needed or requested by the grow house team. Communication with Grow team members/management, other members of the High Life Team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with contractors and vendors
- Performing troubleshooting and repairs on mechanical systems
- Handling emergency service calls after business hours on an on-call rotation
- Perform building maintenance and building maintenance as required, using hand tools motorized lifts and machine tools such as lathe mills, grinders, etc.
- Gathers and disposes of rubbish and waste materials by hand or with the use of powered equipment.
- Paints, installs drywall and makes interior changes as required
- Observes appearances and conditions of premises and equipment; reports needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions requiring outside vendor services.
- Scrubs, strips, sanitizes, waxes, and buffs floors using powered machines equipped with rotating brushes.
- Cleans grounds and parking lots of litter, glass or other debris.
- Loads and unloads supplies, and moves heavy furniture and equipment using dollies, handcarts, or power equipment. Replaces light bulbs and fuses.

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and executing the overall maintenance requirements and maintain proper environments of the cultivation and processing facility with primary focus on HVAC.

Job Description
Terrapin is looking for a HVAC Maintenance Technician to join our growing company. As a Boulder, Colo.-based national cannabis company, Terrapin is a pioneer in the emerging industry. Terrapin is a cultivator, processor and provider of high-quality medical and recreational cannabis products. Over 10 years of operations, Terrapin has grown into a multi-state company with nearly 400 employees. As we have expanded nationally, our need for skilled technical assistance has grown significantly.
We are seeking a highly-skilled mechanical technician to assist our construction, engineering, cultivation, and lab team. You will be updating service and repair records, maintaining our machinery, and running diagnostic tests on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
To ensure success as a mechanical technician, you should exhibit solid knowledge of mechanical performance standards and experience in a similar field of specialization. A top-notch mechanical technician will be someone whose mechanical expertise translates into optimized machinery and equipment performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a continuous HVAC maintenance program. This will include vetting and training contractors and maintenance teams in different states to maintain our units and environmental conditions set by our cultivation managers.
- Assure that all HVAC units are maintaining the required VPD, Humidity, and temperature throughout all of our cultivation facilities.
- Aid in design work including but not limited to: equipment selection, load calculations, placement, distribution of ducting, new airflow systems etc.
- Continuous research on new and innovative technology that can benefit the company in efficiency and quality of HVAC equipment.
- Monitor all environmental monitoring systems, identifying issues and executing prompt solutions to problems that arise.
- Must be willing to travel to all locations throughout the U.S.
- Will work directly with Construction, Cultivation and Lab to assure all facilities are held up to the highest standards set by Terrapin
- Set parameters for different seasons in different climates and assure that on-site technicians are achieving the proper setpoints.
- Diagnosing errors or technical problems and determining proper solutions.
- Installing and performing diagnostic tests on mechanical systems.
- Documenting processes and maintaining mechanical service records.
- Monitoring the availability of parts and replenishing supplies.
- Optimizing mechanical efficiency by adjusting machinery and equipment settings.
- Training co-workers on the safe and efficient use of mechanical machinery and equipment.
- Maintaining a tidy work environment and adhering to industry regulations.
- Create and submit detailed bids that outline costs and timelines of HVAC related projects for construction in accordance with deadlines.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MIT), or similar.
- A minimum of two years' experience as a mechanical technician in a related industry.
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering designs, installations, maintenance, and repairs.
- Proficiency in mechanical design and diagnostic testing software.
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Great organizational and time management abilities.
- Willingness to perform mechanical maintenance and repairs outside of business hours.
- The ability to use computer aided drafting programs
- The ability the work both independently and part of a team
Salary/Pay Rate
- $65,000 - $90,000 dependent on experience
