Chief Science Officer:
US Cannalytics NJ is part of a multi-state laboratory network in search of a Chief Science Officer for analytical laboratory serving the medical cannabis industry in New Jersey.
The Chief Science Officer will be responsible for the accuracy and overall quality of all analytical aspects of the laboratory. These include, but are not limited to:
- Cannabinoid analysis via HPLC-DAD
- Terpene/Residual Solvent analysis via HS-GC-MS
- Heavy Metal analysis via ICP-MS
- Pesticide/Myocotoxin analysis via HPLC-MS/MS
- Microbial Detection via qPCR and Growth Promotion
- Water Activity via Water Activity Meter
- Moisture Analysis via Loss on Drying
- Overseeing laboratory testing protocols and methods
- Method development and optimization
- Maintaining analytical equipment (i.e. HPLC, GC-MSMS, LCMSMS, ICP-MS, qPCR, analytical balances, autoclave, centrifuge, biological safety cabinets, fume hoods, etc.)
- Execution of Proficiency Testing
- Troubleshooting
- Result verification

Minimum Qualifications:

- A master’s level degree in a chemical or biological science and a minimum of 2 years post-degree laboratory experience related to testing of medicinal or pharmaceutical products or other experience as approved by the Department or
- A doctorate of science or an equivalent degree in chemistry, biology, or a sub-discipline of chemistry or biology.
- Appropriate experience with HPLC-PDA/UV, HPLC-MS/MS, GC-MS, and/or ICP-MS
- Flexibility to take on new assignments and see them through to completion

Chief Science Officer Responsibilities:

Position: The Laboratory Director will be responsible for running the lab safely and efficiently. Responsible for all scientific aspects of the lab, including equipment, supplies, software, and documentation.
Skills/Qualifications:
- A doctoral degree in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university. A master’s degree in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university, plus at least 2 years of full-time practical experience.
