About This Role
Every position at Common Citizen from seed to sale, is contributing to our mission to serve our fellow citizens of Michigan with the highest quality, safest cannabis product through our highly individualized and education-oriented provisioning centers.
Responsibilities
Outlined below is what we see you doing at this point in time. We are a fast-growing company looking for people that are excited to grow along with us.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Operate machinery and support machines change over by cleaning and staging the equipment drums
- Unload materials, devices, and machine parts using hand tools
- Identify and communicate problems to Lead such as mold, diseases, insects, etc. that may have a negative impact quality
- Assure sanitation standards are followed with respect to process equipment maintenance (i.e., nutrient reservoirs and irrigation) and finished goods production equipment (i.e., auto-trimmer, etc.)
- Be able to identify and mitigate Waste / Product and Process Defects – considering a wide variety of defects such as plant disease, bad insects, poor product quality, etc.
- Accountable for quality control checks (Leader Standard Work) to ensure process and product quality align with company standards and assure Citizens maintain a clean and tidy workspace (5-S Standard)
- Collaborate with all Citizens in improving daily tasks, assure proper training, and provide process audits with a passion for Continuous Improvement.
- Communicate with clarity and consistency to maintain a positive and progressive team atmosphere.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
The Experience You Bring and the Skills we Need:
· Problem solving skills

· Must have at least 1 year (2-3 years preferable) of hands-on experience in a factory, production, or fast-paced manufacturing environment with measurable goals and working standards.
· Ability to measure, package, and label in a precise manner.
· Effective time-management skills and ability to multi-task.
· Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Ability to communicate using electronic media such as Slack and Outlook Email.
· Perform other duties as required.
· Knowledge of basic MS Office, METRC, and cannabis inventory management programs (Leaf Logix, Biotech THC, MJ Freeway, Lucid) is a plus
· Efficient cultivation/production work ethic with application of Lean tools.
· Must have strong attention to detail and hold themselves accountable to Standards of Work.
· Solid communication and documentation skills.

Job Summary:
The Machine Operator facilitates the use and assists in troubleshooting specialized equipment for teams assigned to the machinery during production. You will ensure all activities related to the machinery such as room organization, machine calibration, and machine maintenance are followed at all times.
Essential Functions:
- Follow standard operating procedures during production runs.
- Trouble shoot, repair, and conduct preventative maintenance on any and all equipment once trained.
- Operates machinery within throughput and quality specifications.
- Ensures machinery is calibrated and well maintained with accurate record keeping.
- Responsible for production quality control for units created on their machinery.
- Continuously monitors the quality of all items associated with packaging and labeling in order to minimize waste or rework.
- Works as a member of a fast-paced team environment to help the team meet group goals.
- Maintains high level of cleanliness of all processing equipment / areas and sanitation practices.
- Reports any identifiable occurrence of mold, mildew, seeds, pests, or pathogens to the supervisor.
- Keeps a sanitary & organized production space.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- At least one or more years of related experience or equivalent processing experience
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Familiarity with packaging and weighing machinery
- Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
- Detail oriented and organized
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer skills
- Ability to work pm shift as necessary
- Knowledge of processing machine and ability to perform basic troubleshooting
- Skilled in following policies and procedures & standard operating procedure
- Team-oriented with good interpersonal and communication skills
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, lifting, walking, standing, some bending/crouching, stooping, stretching, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull and balance up to 15 pounds and must be able to do so with extreme care and caution when working with plants and products.
