The Staff Scientist is responsible to perform data acquisition, analysis, and report preparation for the various testing/screening services. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Position Steep Hill Mississippi at the forefront of Cannabis Analytical Laboratories
- Work with Laboratory Technicians and Laboratory Analysts to ensure turnaround times are met
- Consider and address any deficiencies found in other areas, such as facility administration; proficiency testing; and general, pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic systems
- Ensure that all delegated duties are properly performed
- Ensure Laboratory compliance with all necessary regulations
- Manage instrument calibrations, maintenance and address any equipment malfunction or failure
- Partner with the Lab Director, Lead Analyst, lab staff, customers and more to build on lab practices and improve laboratory operations

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Staff Scientist must be at least 21 years old

Position Summary: This is an analytical position responsible for laboratory support functions to include calibration, standard preparation, instrument tuning, instrument and equipment maintenance, and analysis of data used for laboratory quality control. Daily work involves the use of various types of instrumentation (including HPLC, LCMS, ICPMS and GCMS) lab equipment and complex computer programs to perform tests, record data or findings and present information.
Essential Duties:
- Works with Scientific Director to ensure lab efficiencies for prioritization, workflow, and sample preparation, as well as the loading and running of instruments
- Identifies opportunities for improvement; works with laboratory members to implement new and improved methods and processes
- Assists with the upkeep and improvement of the quality management system to include Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and the employee training programs
