A DAY IN THE LIFE
Enthalpy Analytical, is part of the larger organization, Montrose Environmental Group, is comprised of over 9 laboratories servicing air, water, soil, tobacco, cannabis, and toxicology testing. Regulations drive the need for our services, but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.
Our Richmond, VA facility is currently seeking a Full-Time Sample Receiving Technician.
Sample Control technicians are responsible for ensuring that samples received by Enthalpy are received, documented, and stored correctly. They are usually the first point of contact between the clients’ samples and the laboratory and, as such, are responsible for immediately notifying the Laboratory Project Manager as to receipt, volume, preservation, labeling, or other discrepancies that could affect the laboratory’s ability to efficiently and profitably generate complete and accurate sample results on time, and meet the expectations of our clients. Sample Control technicians are also responsible for receiving incoming chemicals, standards and consumable supplies for the laboratory.
Role and Responsibilities
- Receiving samples and supplies
- Processing samples and supplies
- Review and reconciliation of sample receipt and chain-of-custody
- Communicating sample status to Sales for samples received or expected to be received
- Sample and supply storage
- Maintain sample disposal records
- Maintaining sample storage archive area and records
- Disposal of hazardous waste according to Enthalpy’s waste disposal plan and all local, State and Federal requirements.
- Assist in updating SOPs related to sample handling
- Prepare sampling supplies for shipment to clients
- Outgoing shipping
- Maintain inventory and maintenance for sampling canisters and sampling orifices
- Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency of sample storage or processing
- Complying with Enthalpy’s Quality Assurance Program and other policies
- Other duties as assigned by Sales Department or Lab Director
- Comply with Enthalpy’s Exposure Control Plan
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

Job description
Tentamus Virginia, member of Tentamus Group is seeking a Sample Receiving Technician in Fredericksburg, VA to collect client samples and receive them into the laboratory for testing.
With 12 independent U.S. labs, Tentamus is passionate about testing food, water, cosmetics, and hemp/cannabis for quality, compliance, and product safety. Using superior technology, creativity, intelligence and proven methods, our dedicated employees are utilizing science and producing industry leading analysis.
What you will be doing:
- Receive and log in samples in preparation for analysis. Review sample and any attached documentation to assign identification number and enter information into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Prepare documentation acknowledging receipt of samples.
- Contact client to obtain and clarify missing or unclear information.
- Ensure appropriate storage of samples and maintain sample inventory.
- Coordinate sample flow between departments in the laboratory.
- Prepare packages for pick up by shipping vendors. Follow appropriate procedures to send packages and maintain all related documentation.
- Prepare samples to be shipped to other testing facilities. Complete appropriate documentation.
- May assist laboratory personnel with the preparation and analysis of samples.
- Must be able to help perform basic tasks in a laboratory environment including, but not limited to; washing prep tools, weighing, or measuring samples, and other basic tasks.
- Travel offsite using a company vehicle to pickup samples.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- HS Degree or Equivalent
- Valid VA driver’s license with good driving record
- Experience in a scientific setting preferred.
- Positive attitude.
- Prioritization, time management and initiative.
- Function in a rapidly changing environment with an excellent ability to multitask.
- Ability to work independently with minimal instructions.
- Excellent organization.
- Lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

AgriScience Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Sample Receiving Technician. We are a state licensed and certified cannabis testing facility that provides quality control testing to the marijuana and hemp industries. We need to expand our team to keep up with the rapid growth of the cannabis industry. The role of the lab assistant is primarily to accept samples from clients and deliver them to sample prep areas in a timely manner. The work under direction of a supervisory analyst to complete tasks by following ASL's relevant Standard Operating Procedures. Additionally, general lab maintenance, logging, and monitoring requirements are required functions.
Daily Tasks:- Perform sample log-in and tracking
- Call and interact with clients
- Perform sample reporting in Marijuana Enforcement Tracking Reporting Compliance (Metrc)
- Sample and waste disposal
- Maintain a working understanding of current Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) rules and regulations
- Manage supplies relevant to your position
- Complete additional tasks, as needed or directed
Education/Behavioral Skills:
- Minimum of an associate’s degree from an accredited university
- Capability of getting a MED badge
- Experience in the cannabis industry a plus
