The K-Lab Production Specialist is responsible for multifunctional support of production and packaging of our infused products. The K-Lab Production Specialist completes tasks assigned by the K-Lab Manager. Day-to-day tasks include prepping, cleaning, cooking, labeling, and operating production and packaging machinery.
Responsibilities
- Complete simple math computations, accurately follow and understand recipes, and execute large-scale production of various cannabis-infused edibles
- Operate kitchen equipment such as scales, mixers, cooktops, commercial ovens, packaging and sealing equipment, etc.
- Must have high attention to detail when creating, packaging, and labeling product is required
- Maintain standards of sanitation, kitchen hygiene, and food service safety techniques in order to follow proper health department rules and regulations, FTLOC鈥檚 HACCP plan, and regulatory sanitation and safety procedures
- Clean food preparation and production areas as required
- Ensure all kitchen utensils and containers are washed and put back in proper storage area
- Understand basic MRA rules and requirements for testing, packaging, labeling, and shipping
- Properly follow and record operational procedures to comply with METRC requirements and FTLOC鈥檚 SOPs
- Communicate with inventory team for METRC compliance and labeling of all steps of edible production, from raw THC material to finished product
- Consistently create and ensure high-quality product
- Assist in other duties as assigned by manager
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older and able to pass a background check
- 1+ years experience in commercial kitchen, food manufacturing or equivalent experience
- Previous cannabis edibles manufacturing experience preferred
- ServSafe Food Handler certification or willingness to obtain ServSafe Food Handler certificate
- Fluency in both written and spoken English
- Must have excellent manual dexterity and impeccable personal hygiene
- Must be highly detailed orientated
- Ability to understand and follow FDA regulations
- General knowledge of workplace health and safety standards
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail

Position Description:
The Lab Production Specialist works with the Lab Manager to compound and assist in product development per company specifications. They will work with laboratory equipment making tinctures, topicals, capsules, etc. Efficiency and attention to detail are paramount.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process all types of formulas accurately and in compliance with master formula worksheets
- Weigh ingredients correctly and process them following the provided formula worksheet specifications and SOPs
- Closely monitor the daily production schedule
- Assist Lab Manager with Research and Development
- Must be willing to personally consume product samples to test quality and product properties (flavor, effect, etc.)
- Work to create a variety of products on a large scale, must be comfortable with repetitive tasks.
- Responsible for daily cleaning and logs in accordance with established policy
- Perform frequent testing to confirm that all equipment is working well, including capsule machines, pumps, balances, etc.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be technically inclined and have the ability to operate precision machinery, noticing subtle changes in mechanical operation to safeguard product quality and consistency.
- Must have basic lab skills using balances, vacuum ovens, hot plates, dissolving solids, pouring solvents, etc.
- Must have basic chemistry/physics knowledge, solubility, pressure, density, etc.
- Must be proficient in computer usage (especially in Excel) and mathematics (basic algebra).
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Chemistry or similar field is preferred, however, a combination of experience and / or education will be considered.
- Two years + experience working as a compounding technician or similar job required
- Knowledge of pharmacology and biochemical mechanisms is a plus.
- Knowledge of human physiology, drug metabolism, cellular biology, is a plus.
