Work Environment

While performing work-related duties the employee occasionally works with hazardous, toxic or caustic chemicals such as acids and solvents, works around fumes or airborne particles from laboratory chemicals used/fume hoods works with or near moving mechanical parts from laboratory equipment and works with equipment that vibrates. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Work Schedule:
- 40-hour minimum workweek; Sunday-Thursday
- Schedule is 9AM-5PM with some flexibility required
- May require on-call duty and the ability to work outside of scheduled work hours including weekends and holidays when the need arise
- Travel of 5-10% may be required

ACT Laboratories is currently a seeking a full-time Laboratory Chemist for our Ballston Spa, NY laboratory.
The position will be scheduled primarily on the day shift, Monday-Friday; with overtime and weekends as needed.
Under technical supervision, Laboratory Chemists perform laboratory procedures requiring technical skills and independent judgment in chemistry and microbiology.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform laboratory tests to provide data for use in ensuring patients receive the proper and most pure medication
- Participate in general laboratory techniques such as preparing chemicals and preparing samples for testing
- Make interpretation of data from microbiological plates
- Make microscopic examinations of samples
- Perform review of data entered into Laboratory Information Management System
- Other duties as may be assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemisty, Biology or related science required
- Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience required;
- Knowledge of elementary principles of microbiology and chemistry
- Knowledge of basic clinical laboratory skills
- Ability to operate laboratory equipment
